Tonight let’s come together, light a candle, take time to breathe and have a conversation. Come join me.
Jean Nichells has been offline for a hot minute and now we're back. Tonight on our Tuesday evening, I wore my I'm a message shirt person. Where are you? Jean would love to hear from you.
The 8pm session is designed for people to come together in community and to be present. Emily asks you to write one thing in this moment that you're the most grateful for. There's no real script, but it's authenticity.
Someone said to me that right now in Minneapolis, specifically, it feels like Covid all over again, yet different. And the conversation got really just raw. I love being in a dialogue where people are willing to just share.
Jean Nicholls invites you to take a deep, long, slow breath in and a nice, just gentle exhale. As you take that breath, check in with your body. What are you feeling or thinking in your mind? And if you're willing to type into our chat, what are you grateful for in this moment?
On any given day, I might do a cacao ceremony. When I create space in time my day to simply be present, magic happens. In the last month, teaching spin classes has been really hard. It's really important to hold a container of space.
What is the feeling in your body that you feel the most right now? In this moment, what does your body feel? The word that I might say in this moment is peace. Holding space in our community right now is really just about for me, being present.
Jules bought a flash sale tattoo on the day of the second Covid shutdown in Minneapolis. She wanted to get a double infinity symbol, a Reiki symbol for pure love. What would be a shape or a symbol that represents how you want to show up tomorrow?
Cadre is a community of kind humans meeting everybody exactly where they're at, moment by moment. If you need inspiration, send me a note. Tell me what it is that you need, how we can help. And remember that you are loved.
Hello, Cadre family. Jean Nichells here. I may or may not be joined by my furry sidekick, But I'm excited to be here. I have been offline for a hot minute and now we're back. Needed some space and time, just more for myself. Hello, Speak Wonder. It's nice to have you here. It's nice to be here on a Tuesday evening, just holding space, being able to have a conversation. I haven't been out here for a while. I apologize for that. I have been just trying to focus on Minneapolis and take some time for myself to be present at our studio, the indoor cycling studio, to do as many sound baths as I can to help people heal and at the same time experience my own series of emotions for lack of better things.
So today, tonight. Hi, Jules. I have one of my favorite brands of candles. It's called Grateful Daily. So I'm gonna light my candle. I got a new one. We're gonna just have it here with us. Shining a little light on this beautiful, beautiful Tuesday evening. Now, I don't know where you're calling in from, so I'd love if you would type in the chat and let me know where you're at. Where are you? So I'm in Minneapolis. I live close to the river. And if you have been in Minneapolis at any point in time and in the last month, you will experience a lot of really beautiful things and you'll see a lot of beautiful people coming together to find connection.
So tonight on our Tuesday evening, I wore my I'm a message shirt person. I don't know if you know this about me or not. You see the be a good person swag that I wear from time to time. But I have been buying message shirts for a long time. Like this has been probably since college. I am a walking billboard of positivity. And my all time favorite shirt that I ever found has this big heart that kind of goes along the side and it's a black T shirt and it just says love on it. That's. It just says love.
And it would literally be the T shirt that I would travel in everywhere I go. And now I still have it and still wear it a lot. But I'm at the point where I don't want it to wear out because I love it so much. So I kind of only pull that one out on special occasions. But what I love about it is you can speak so many words, you can speak so many things, you can create connections without ever saying one spoken word. So in the chat, here's my invitation to you first. Where are you at? Where are you?
Are you from? Where are you at in this moment, literally physically? And then my invitation to you is to write one thing in this moment that you're the most grateful for. Now, I find for me that journaling lately has been hard. I feel like even my cacao ceremonies have taken on a different meaning. But one thing remains a constant, and that's just finding gratitude and holding space for gratitude. Hi, Emily. How are you doing today? If you're just getting in here, My invitation when you come in, is to type where you're at, like, physically, where are you from?
And then my second invitation to you is to write something that you are grateful for in this moment. Jules, you're standing in your kitchen craving sweets. I love this. I literally just had two homemade caramels, and they had nuts in them, and they were delightful. So it's really great to be able to come together on a Tuesday evening and hold space. And honestly, I think I might do evening shift more often because I feel like it's kind of delightful and we can really just kind of get all yummied in wherever we're at.
So these 8pm sessions are really designed for us to come together in community and to be present. There's no real script. There's no necessarily a motivational, inspirational twist, but it's authenticity. And honestly, I don't know how to show up any other way. So if I were to tell you, in this moment, where am I at? I would say that I feel joy for being able to be out here tonight. I feel gratitude for Major. If you've never met Major, he is a golden retriever. He is really fun. And he's laying here.
I'll show you. He is, like, laying down, checking it out, saying, hey, everybody, how's it going tonight? So Maryjer is our trusted advisor. He keeps us on point. And as you're thinking about things that you're grateful for, you know, it can be really hard sometimes when we're going through a lot. And it's interesting because I was having a conversation recently, and someone said to me that right now in Minneapolis, specifically, it feels like Covid all over again, yet different. And I was like, say more.
And this person was like, you know, people were coming together, helping out one another, and yet we all felt like we were on an island. And I was like, tell me more about being on an island. What does that feel like to you? And they shared that. It felt like to them, not isolation, but like, you kind of just find your own Space so you can find your own way. And I was like, well, tell me more about that. And the conversation got really just raw. And I love that. I love being in a dialogue where people are willing to just share.
So, as we're diving in this evening, I'm going to ask you guys to do a quick thing for me and I'll do it with you. Don't worry, we're in it together. And then I'll tell you a little bit about who I am, in case you don't know who I am, because I haven't been a little MIA this month. But I'll be back in February, I promise. So I'm gonna invite you to close your eyes. So I'm gonna close my eyes and I'm gonna invite you to take a deep, long, slow breath in. And a nice, just gentle exhale. You don't have to force it out.
Just a gentle exhale. Let it go and then find another deep breath in. And as you take that breath, I'm going to invite you to check in with your body. Where in your body are you feeling a little resistant? Where in your body are you feeling resistant to receiving that breath? As you exhale out, what does the exhale feel like in your body? And as you take that next big inhale, what are you feeling or thinking in your mind? Do you have all kinds of thoughts? Are you thinking about a feeling? What's going on?
As you exhale out again, allow one thought to just disappear. And then lastly, allow yourself to take one more big inhale. Feel your chest and heart expand and on that exhale, pierce your lips and just blow. It's as if you're sending a gift out to the world. Hello, Davis. I don't know which point you came in, but we were just doing a little breathing right here. And if you've come in, I have my trusted little candle here. I'm a total candle person. This one is called Grateful Daily. So for those of you just joining in, I'll give you a little bit of information about who I am.
My name is Jean Nicholls. I am one of the Cadre contributors. I usually am here on Sundays and Mondays are usually my time. I do self care Sundays and leading with authenticity on Mondays. I am a life coach, a consultant. I am a spin instructor, reiki master sound therapist. I do a lot of work to really look at the whole human. And I think there's nothing more beautiful in life than to really truly see someone and see past the title that they have in a job or maybe how you experience them in one dimension of their lives.
We think about who we are. We're multi dimensional. Just sit with that for a second. We are multi dimensional. So while I can wear a hat on one day that has me as a consultant, I can wear another hat that has me as a small business owner. I can wear another hat where I'm a healer or a sister. We have many hats. But what I'm finding right now is the hat that I need to put on the most is the hat that says, I wish I had one. I need to get one. Self care, self love, uncle. Yeah, Emily and Davis, where are you guys calling in from?
I know where Jules and Speak Wonder are from, but where are you at? Where are you from? And if you're willing to type into our chat and have the conversation, what are you grateful for in this moment? Ah, I love it. What are you grateful for in this moment? So I find that most days I do my best to wake up. Oh, hello, Minneapolis. Wake up and try to identify a couple of things. St. Paul, thank you for joining. Try to write just a few things that I'm the most grateful for and thank you so much. I appreciate that.
And so on any given day, I might do a cacao ceremony. Cacao is simply dark, bitter chocolate. Jules has tasted it, she knows it well. And you know, really, if whether it's a bottle of water that has just plain old water or maybe you have a hydration in here and you just hold it in a way that feels comforting and comfortable, you know, a ceremony can be as simple as taking a few breaths and offering a gratitude a ceremony, it can be as extended as sitting in a circle and sharing something out loud.
But I find that when I create space candles and I create space in time my day to simply be present, magic happens. Now, it doesn't mean that I'm going to go from angry to happy. It doesn't mean I'm going to go from, I don't know any other emotion to some other emotion. But what it does allow me to do is be fully present. I don't know about you, but especially if you're in Minneapolis and St. Paul right now, there's, there's a lot, right? I co own an indoor cycling studio and I teach spin classes.
And I love, I love teaching spin classes. But I'm not gonna lie, there's no point in that. In the last month, teaching spin classes has been really hard. So I found like I've been reusing some old playlists and maybe using the same song that Just hit me really good in a class, using it in a few classes. And this week, I have to. I get to teach six classes. But what's hard about that is I feel so much emotion. Like I'm a high empath. I feel a lot of things. And what I find is teaching those classes, it's really important to hold a container of space.
So it's a balance between expressiveness of what I feel, and I can share that through the music that I choose. Maybe I'm playing a little more rock or pop punk because I'm just feeling angsty and fired up and holding space for people in that angsty energy and movement. Or some days it's just like I feel like I'm creating a playlist that would be a sad song and just, like, moving through something that might feel a little more melancholy. And if you know me, I'm like Energizer Bunny and bubble machines and glow sticks and all those things.
So it's really a space to just be present. So in this moment, right now, if you're willing to share, there's no. You have to. What is the feeling in your body that you feel the most right now? Not earlier today, not in preparation for what's to come next, but right now, in this moment, what does your body feel? Now, I asked it that way in particular because body, mind, spirit, head, heart, hands, all of those things. Hi, Luke. Miss you, too. Davis, you say that you. Thank you. It's like one of my favorite colors and one of my favorite messages, but in this moment, what do you feel?
So, Davis, you feel relief. That's a great word. I love that word, actually. Relief. So if I play with that word. In this moment, how does relief feel in your body? Do you feel a lightness in your shoulders? Do you feel lightness in your heart? Do you feel your mind feeling a little less exhausted? Ah. You feel relief that Qatar is working. Thank you, Davis. I appreciate that. Yeah, I love that, for me, the word that I would say, Hi, Emily. Love it. Love all of you guys here. The word that I might say in this moment is peace.
I feel at peace in this moment. I have my trusted candle, and it's called Grateful Daily. I have my trusted advisor, Major, who is really a therapy dog for everybody. I am grateful to have an electric fireplace because fire and warmth make me feel cozy and safe and present. And I love every moment that I get to interact with Cadre. But holding space in our community right now is really just about for me, being present. So in this moment, sinking Into a cloud. Ooh, that's good. So if I were to ask you in this moment, what would be a shape or a symbol that represents how you want to show up tonight, you want to show up tomorrow, what might that look like for you?
Jules, I know you're out there. Speak wonder. I'm gonna guess you have some poem. So here is a thing that I did and I'll explain a thing that I did. But I did this thing a while ago. So fun fact. I have a couple of tattoos that may or may not be fun fact, but the fun fact is, is literally the day of the second Covid shutdown in Minneapolis. So every state and cities, they all did something different. But back then on this particular day and I mentioned that I co own an indoor cycling studio, I had bought a tattoo, like one of those flash sale tattoos from this artist who is just, she's a beautiful human and her artwork is impeccable.
And I've never been one that like, I don't want to have a lot of tattoos, but the ones that I have, I have three have very significant meaning to me. And I bought a flash sale. I didn't know what that meant. Tattoo rookie. I went there on this day and it was the very last hours before businesses were going to be closed again. But I really wanted to support this small business owner. And if you're on Instagram, it's Love and Inc. Her name is Helen. She's beautiful. Beautiful. And I bought this flash sale.
I show up at her office, her space, I don't know where I'm going. I just drive there, find the map. And I walk in and I see her space and I'm literally like girl crushing all over her because like she's just cool, right? And I walk in and we talk about this. She's like, okay, hey, you bought a flash sale. And I was like, yeah, great. I was like, hey, can this. It was like a crystal. I'm into crystals and all this woo woo stuff. And I was like, hey, can we like make this a butterfly? Cuz the Costa Rica butterfly is blue and that means purita.
And it reminds me of just life and celebrating life, living it life to its fullest. And she looks at me and she's like, this is a flash sale. I can add colors but like you want to redesign because this is a moth and you're asking for a butterfly. And I was like oh, like what does that mean? She explains it to me and I was like, well, here's the deal. I have a backup plan. She was like, I don't work this way. Promise I'm getting somewhere with this. And I was like, here's the deal. It's simple, and I already paid all this money.
I will pay you extra money. I want to support your business. I love your art. Maybe let's just try. She's like, I don't work this way. And you can tell she's frustrated with me. And I'm like, I'm so sorry. Be a kind human. And so I was like, I just want to get a double infinity symbol. And I'm a Reiki master, and it's a Reiki symbol for pure love. And I said, I've always wanted to get a double Reiki symbol, like a double infinity symbol, and you can do whatever you want with it. She's like, let me try.
So she drew out this thing, and I was like, this is amazing. And she's like, where do you want it to be? And I was like, on my forearm, and she printed it out. And then, like, takes the piece of paper. Have you ever gotten a tattoo? They draw it out, they print it out, and then it's like an outline, and they. They lay it on your arm, and. And I was like, cool. It's gonna be, like, this big. That's awesome. And I'm not great with, like. If you tell me it's six inches, that could be like this or it could be like this.
To me, it doesn't matter. I don't know. So she puts it on my arm, and I'm like, oh, that's a little big. Thicker than I thought, because originally I was gonna put it on my leg. And I was like, okay, let's go for it. And she starts to do the thing, and then I'm realizing how big this is gonna be. And she's singing Acapella, Taylor Swift, Red Album. So if you're a swiftie, this is your girl. And she does her thing, and I get done with it. And I was like, oh, my God, this is huge. I don't say those words out loud.
I just am like, this is beautiful. And she puts a little color to it, and she wraps it up. And I kid you not. She's like, no sweating for the next 48 hours. And, like, here's your instructions. I was like, okay, great. So I walk out, I get a text message from one of my instructors. It's the last class before the COVID shutdown, and we don't know what that's gonna be. And she's like, I can't Teach this class. And I was like, okay. So I just walk out of a tattoo parlor, I drive straight to her studio.
I have my arm wrapped up, and I teach a spin class. And I'm going to show you, like, my arm. I'm going to try to show you my arm. It's a double infinity symbol. It's got blue for, like, third eye, which is around your intuition. It has, like, these little moons up here, which, to me, represent expansion. And it literally is, like, the perfect thing for me to have on my arm, which is a symbol of pure love. So when I think about the gifts I want to give to the world and whatever's happening in our community in Minneapolis, I can't imagine a better place in this world to be than right here with all of you at Cadre.
And if I think about looking at my arm every single day, what is it that I want to give to the world? I want to give love. So even on the hardest days, and there are days where I have to take it in and I have to be able to give myself love first. And I'm going to show you my very first tattoo, which is a dragonfly, which is one of my animal symbols, because dragonflies are all about adaptability and creativity and being flexible, which is really important to me. But if you look at it, you'll see there's four hearts.
A north, south, east, and west. But the important part of these hearts are these two right here. There's a red one and a black one, and one of them is inverted. So when I got this very first tattoo, I knew I always wanted to give love to the world. But I was reminded as I was getting that tattoo that I have to be able to love myself first. I have to be able to take what I need to give myself love first before I can give it out to anyone else. And if I'm depleted and if I'm not feeling it, I don't have much left in my tank to give.
Now I'm a Reiki master. I'm a Cadre contributor. I do sound bath, meditations. I'm a coach. I teach spin classes. Giving north, south, east, west all the time. Pure love from my heart. I can't show up very well. But in these moments when we are going through all kinds of things, right, it's really, really important that we take something for ourselves. So tonight, my hope, my. My intention for all of us is to hold space, to be here so that you know that we're here giving love, and we are here receiving love, we are lighting a candle, because there's always light in the world.
In the darkest nights on a flower, full moon, it's a reminder that there is a light shining down on something beautiful. So wherever you're at in this crazy space right now, that feels unsettling, almost in a way similar to what it felt like in Covid. We can give and give and give and give, but if we forget to take back something for ourselves, give ourselves a tiny, tiny gift, we're not going to have enough for everybody. So whether it's wearing a simple shirt that says, be a kind human, be a good person, love.
I have a lot of paragraph shirts. So if you need inspiration, send me a note. But that's what we can do. Even on the day that I just feel the most depleted, I can pop out this shirt and know that no matter what, I walk past somebody and somebody's gonna look at that and they're gonna smile or they're gonna remember or they're gonna pause. So at the end of the day, we can do this together. We are a community. Cadre is a community. I look at Cadre as family now. I have the joy of knowing so many people that work behind the scenes in life, so I truly get to call them family.
But I can tell you with 100% certainty, if you need something, ask. You want to send me a text, text me. I'll give you my number. Or send me a DM on Instagram, dream big30. Tell me what it is that you need, how we can help. Type it in the comments out on the Cadre Sphere. Where are you at in any given moment? And I guarantee you, you will receive something very special back, because that's who we are. We're a community of kind humans meeting everybody exactly where they're at, moment by moment. And that's what we can do.
So, Hannah, Davis, Luke, Emily, all of you guys, I love you guys. We're here. We're a team. We're a community. And I just want to say thank you for being a part of my life. Everybody that dials in, that joins Cadre, thank you for being here tonight, lighting your candles, holding space, breathing, taking a moment to be present right now. Because the only moment we can control, literally the only moment we can control is this one. We can plan for others, we can reflect on what was, but all we can do is take how we feel in this moment, what we think, what we can create in this moment.
That is all we have control over is right now. So I'm going to invite you one more time before we say goodnight. Take a deep breath. Slow exhale. And simply remember that you are love. And that you are loved. So thank you all for being here tonight. Count me in on that little Cadre tattoo program. And just know that I'm grateful for all of you. And I'm proud of all of you for showing up, showing up for yourselves every single day. Have a great night, all. We'll see you guys soon. I'm back.
