As you head into the weekend, this is an invitation to let go, be in the moment and pause as you transition.
The host greets viewers and explains the idea of a Friday exhale — a weekly transition practice to shift from the workweek into a different space. This section sets the intention and schedule for the recurring practice.
The host guides listeners through a series of long, slow inhales and exhales, emphasizing deeper release by the third breath and noticing the physical and mental effects.
The speaker shares an anecdote and reflections about the tendency to hold on tightly to things we care about — relationships, jobs, or communities — and how that tightness can suffocate them.
Through pause and curiosity, the host asks probing questions about what we're holding onto and why, shares a personal example of clinging to a community or business, and suggests letting go to see if it can thrive independently.
The host asks viewers what they're willing to let go of to reclaim themselves, sends love and encourages taking a pause to exhale so that a piece of you can return.
Hello everybody, happy Friday. Summer, it's Friday, we're here. So many cool things about that. On Friday afternoons I'm coming in to do a little Friday exhale. That point in time where we transition from our day, our week, into something different or new. Now, Some of us, many of us might also work on the weekend. I don't know about you, but for me, I feel like there is, even when I work on Saturday and Sunday, I feel like Friday still has that something special about it. And whether you're going by a calendar day or maybe it's Friday based on your work schedule, whatever that might look like, there's a transition.
So every Friday I'm going to come in live, join you here and we're going to do our transition, our Friday exhale. So let's start first with a breath. I feel like big transitionary moments or changes in conversations, there's always like a deep breath and a sigh out or an exhale. So let's just do that. Take a long, slow breath in. Exhale out, long and slow. You feel that, right? Like an intentional breath, you feel something. So let's feel something again. Second time around, it feels a little deeper.
It feels like there's something a little extra. So it's third time a charm it. Take another long, slow inhale. That's the one. That's the one. I feel like by the third time you do that, you actually physically, mentally, mindfully allow yourself to expand the release. So today I just want to share just an anecdote, a conversation, a concept. about letting go. We can hold on to something so tight because we believe so passionately in what it is. It could be a relationship, a job, a business, a community.
The harder we hold on, the tighter we squeeze. We create tension around it. That thing that we love so much, that we're so passionate about. Maybe we try to control it. Maybe we try to stop it from ending because we never want it to end. And then there's that moment, that moment where we realize that the tension, the grip, the tightness that we're holding onto, has now started to shift the meaning of what we've been grasping to for so long. We realize that the harder we squeeze, the tighter we hold on, the more we suffocate the thing that we love so much.
Maybe you feel that when you're a parent with a child. I don't have children, so I don't know, but I know what it's like to feel like the child. when the parent is holding on so tight. Maybe it's a relationship, a friendship, a romantic relationship, a marriage, a partnership. When you squeeze so tight, so tight that it suffocates that relationship, that partnership, that partner, that friend. And then we pause, we take that breath. And then we offer in curiosity. What are we holding onto? Why are we holding on?
What if we let go a little? Would we set something free? Would we lose that something? Would we lose ourselves? I've recently been in the space of holding on so tight to something I love so much. A community, a business. But sometimes we just have to let go and see if it'll fly on its own. See if that community that we've believed in so much can fly on its own. But along the way, it feels like we're losing a part of ourselves. But what I'm trying to grapple with as I exhale on this Friday is maybe I lost that piece of me along the way already.
And maybe by exhaling, I'm creating space for that piece of me to come back home. So here's my question on the Friday. As you exhale, what are you willing to let go to create space for yourself once again to fly? Though my heart, I'm sending you love on this beautiful Friday, wherever you're at, whatever time of day you listen, whatever day of the week you hear this message, I'm sending you love in this moment. And I hope that you too can take that pause to exhale and let something go so that a piece of you can return.
