Chapters

  1. 0:01Opening and togetherness

Begins with a light musical intro then sets the intention of creating a shared space where people can think, feel, respond, and support one another. It frames the session as communal and welcoming.

  2. 0:54Normalize how you feel

The speaker greets the audience, affirms it's okay to be not okay or to be okay, and invites reflection on what it takes to feel well. They emphasize personal agency and care while acknowledging control and acceptance.

  3. 1:29Why name emotions

Explains the practice of naming emotions — noting that feelings are intangible but naming them makes them identifiable and shareable. The speaker gives examples (like 'panicky') and describes how labeling reduces fear and allows others to support you.

  4. 2:57Invitation and sign-off

Invites listeners to give names to their highs and lows so they can acknowledge and sit with them, and suggests naming 'Happy' today to be happy together. The segment ends with a brief goodbye.

Imagine me and you, and you and me, got you all the time. It's only right to think about the girl you love all the time, so happy together. I should call you up, invest a time, and you say you belong to me. I got a little piano part. So happy together. And I'm going to hit the pause right there. We'll do the chorus on the way out. Imagine all those people being happy together. That's what we're doing right here. We're creating a space where you can be with other people and thinking and feeling and responding and asking and supporting all those wonderful things.

Cheers to this Monday, Cadre. Hope you're doing good, but if you're not, that's okay. It really is. And I'll tell you, I say it every single day. And there are days that I'm not doing good and I hear myself say it and I go, yeah, it is okay to be not okay. It's also pretty darn okay to be okay. And if you're doing great, shout it from the rooftops y'all. And consider what it takes for you to get there. The things in your control, the things out of your control. I'm glad I'm here. I'm glad you're here.

I know the things I know and I care about you. It's really important to name it. And you get to decide whatever it is. Like if you have a kind of a feeling or an emotion that you get sometimes and you go, gosh, I'm in that head space again or that heart space, for you to be able to go, I am feeling that thing. And all of a sudden, because feelings aren't you can't hold emotions in your hand. You can look at the evidence of emotions or you can say what emotions maybe look like in the response they create.

But emotions aren't real. If you can get to a place where you can name the feeling and your specificity to it, it's like, I like using the word panicky. And all of a sudden it's like, my understanding of what panicky feels like to me is something that when I'm feeling it again, I can come back to it and go, oh. And if I'm naming it for other people, it's like, hey, friends, family, I'm feeling panicky again. Then they know where I am, which makes it a little less scary for all of us. If you could put ideas into vessels, and vessels are words or concepts, then more than one person can sit with you in the midst of that thing you're dealing with.

So my invitation for you today is when you're feeling those things, those highs, those lows, those confusings, those darks, those lights, wherever they fit, give it a name so whenever it makes an appearance, you can say hello to it, you can acknowledge it, and remind yourself that it's part of who you are. Everybody, one of those things that we can name is Happy. Maybe today we can be happy together. See you tomorrow.
