JC shares one of his favorite podcasts, describes its hosts and episode formats, and explains how its humor, tenderness, and unpredictability create a feeling of belonging; he connects that to this Cadre series and invites leaning into small favorites.
JC greets Kadri and checks in, then says he’s going to pause to introduce one of his favorite things.
He explains the podcast’s hosts, episode formats, and why its mix of humor, tenderness, and unpredictability makes listeners feel included.
JC formally welcomes listeners, introduces his role, and names this Cadre series as another favorite for similar reasons he loves the Handsome Podcast.
He cites a line from You've Got Mail about how shared 'nothings' can mean more than big gestures, then invites listeners to lean into whatever small favorites nourish them.
A short goodbye where JC says he’ll see listeners tomorrow and signs off.
Hi, Kadri. How are you doing? I'm going to hit pause over here. I'm hitting pause on one of my favorite things. It's called the Handsome Podcast. It's a podcast of three, hosted by three comedians, Tig Notaro, Mae Martin, and Fortune Feimster. And they talk about being friends and Then all of a sudden the conversation goes places. And then on their full episodes, they take questions from celebrities and then they answer them. And then on the shorter episodes, they take questions from listeners and they answer them.
And it's a really popular podcast. It's funny, it's touching, it's absurd. You don't know where it's going to go. You don't really care. You feel like you're a part of the thing. Hey, welcome to Cadre. My name's JC. If we've never shared time and space together before, thank you for sharing some time and space with me right now. I'm really glad you're here. I'm glad I'm here. I know the things I know and I care about you. And another one of my favorite things is this, this Cadre. For a lot of those same reasons that I shared about why I like the Handsome podcast.
there's a great line on You've Got Mail where Meg Ryan says to Tom Hanks, so often we talk about so many nothings. We just talk. But then she says, I need you to know, Tom Hanks, all these nothings mean so much more to me than so many somethings. I think that's the beautiful thing about our favorite things. We don't need to reason as to why they're our favorites. But there's something that makes us smile or feel or feel nourished or all that stuff. And that's exactly what we're doing right here every single day in the Cadre Sphere.
So my invitation for you today is lean into whatever those favorites are. You don't even know why, but lean on in. I'll see you tomorrow. Bye.
