Chapters

  1. 0:01Welcome and show intro

JC welcomes viewers to Cadre Today, explains what Cadre is, and situates this daily moment in the Cadre Sphere. This orients viewers to the show's purpose and tone before the main topic.

  2. 0:58Introducing magic tricks

JC describes his 'bag of magic tricks'—everyday acts like haircuts, car washes, air filters, donuts, and candles—and explains that each reliably helps him feel better. He gives the hair-cut example to show how a simple action can shift emotional state.

  3. 2:36More examples and effects

JC recounts recent travel and meetings, saying he'll get a car wash to feel more prepared, and mentions changing an air filter and lighting a candle as other quick mood-lifters. These concrete examples model how to use small acts to change how you feel.

  4. 3:34Invitation to identify rituals

JC asks viewers to name their personal 'magic tricks' and suggests making a list on your phone so you can use one when feeling drained or depleted. A community member shares their routine, illustrating that some rituals can be recurring structures like a recovery Monday.

  5. 4:44Closing and send-off

JC wraps up by reminding viewers to use their magic tricks, says goodbye, and notes he's off to get a car wash. This brief close sends viewers with a practical takeaway.

Hey Cadre, how are we doing on this Monday? I hope you are doing swell. My name is JC and this is Cadre. What is Cadre? It's a special group of people with a special intention. And that special intention is showing the world that there's lots of different ways to be well. Lots of different ways to take care of yourself. Lots of different ways to grow, to navigate, to change, to consider, to take care of you. Because the better you take care of you, the better the world is. Hey Speak Wonder, nice to see you, my friend, on this Monday.

I'm glad I'm here. I'm glad you're here. I know the things I know and I care about you. This is Cadre Today, which is a daily occurrence in the Cadre Sphere. It's an opportunity for you to see through one being this rolling synthesis of how we consider our well-being. One of the ways that I take care is by having my little bag of magic tricks. I'll name some of them. Haircuts, car washes, air filters, Cub Foods donuts, three wick candles, those little black and red berry looking candies. Okay, I'll hit the pause button.

You go, what do all these things have in common? Here's what these things have in common. Whenever I take out one of these magic tricks, I, on the other side, innately do a little bit better. You may be like, do better with what? Do better with how I'm feeling and how I'm doing. For about five and a half months, I hadn't had my hair cut till last week, and then I got my hair cut on a week ago today when I just finished a very exhausting stretch of life. Getting my hair cut brought me to a better place.

Yesterday I brought my dad down to Iowa for a concert in the evening 30 this morning to drive back to Minnesota because I have meetings starting in um 12 plus 32 in 42 minutes um and it's go time. So what am I going to do? I'm going to go get my car washed. Why? Because getting my car washed is going to make me go and all of a sudden I'm going to feel a little bit more ready, a little bit better. Um Sometimes when my house feels like I haven't had time to clean it as much as I'd like to, I change the air filter and all of a sudden I feel better.

There's times when I'm stressed and I'm getting ready to have a long day at the desk and I light the three wicks of a three wick candle and all of a sudden do it with me. I feel better. What are your magic tricks? What are the things that you have in your in your life that when you do, you feel a little bit better. It's really important to name these things. And that's my invitation for you today. Go on your phone, make a list of your magic tricks. So then whenever you go, gosh, I'm feeling drained or depleted or defeated or any other word that makes you, oh, you can take out one of these magic tricks and all of a sudden you'll feel a little bit better.

SpeakWonder says, Mondays are my recovery day, a built-in way to protect my nervous system. I read, I ruminate, I play good music, maybe a nap. I love that, right? Maybe some of your magic tricks aren't things that you take out, but they're things that present in the cosmos, like a Monday. And all of a sudden, SpeakWonder can make it to the Monday, and all of a sudden, do it with me, you feel a little bit better. Y'all, my invitation for you today. Make that list of your magic tricks. And then when you need to, take one out of the bag.

See you tomorrow. Off to the car wash. Bye. Peace.
