It's been a rough week and you don't want anything to do with it. Good stress still has consequences to the body. Community is so important. Sit back, close your eyes for a minute, take a deep breath. There's still plenty of time to accomplish all the things that you want.
How are you doing on a scale of 1 to 10? 1. It's been a rough week and you don't want anything to do with it. 10 meaning you know what, given the context of my week. And also don't forget to let me know where you are in the world.
Lukewarm: Is your stress leaning more towards good stress or bad stress? Good stress still has consequences to the body. Lukewarm: Recognize different signs and symptoms that it's not ideal for your body.
The last tool I want to give you is called a hard stop. Every single day, determine, based on how I feel right now, the people in my life that are important to me. Get accountability. Community is so important.
All right. Let's end in an emotional regulation moment. Sit back, close your eyes for a minute, take a deep breath. There's still plenty of time to accomplish all the things that you want. And please, please know you are important.
Kadrasphere how are you? Let me lean in and really ask because it does matter. I want you to stop and really ask yourself, you know what? How am I? That's a really great question and I don't want you to even think about just the obvious. I always ask you to come in and say good morning, good afternoon, good evening. Depending upon when you join rate week. Hello, Steph. Irwin. Hello Andrea. Let me know how are you doing on a scale of 1 to 10? 1. It's been a rough week and you don't want anything to do with it.
Hello, Shannon. 10 meaning you know what, given the context of my week. Hello, Davis. I'm doing pretty well, right? Hey, Audrey. It's a very simple way to just kind of check in. It's what we call an emotional regulation skill. And then the goal is to think if I'm an 8, I'm a 7, I'm a this, then where do I want to move forward? And also don't forget to let me know where you are in the world. I'm in my home city of Charlotte. Got out of Minneapolis, which seems like just in time because the weather's about to go crazy.
And they were like if you have a flight, you're going to get delayed. So while I'm missing Minneapolis, I'm also really to the weak and what do I want to not come with me into the week. So all that being said, our focus of today is about stress and really understanding and recognizing that both good stress and bad stress still has impact. And I want to spend some time really talking about the good stress that you may have in your life life and recognizing different signs and symptoms that it's still not ideal for your body.
First, let's do this. I want you to kind of take inventory and tell me when you think about the kind of stress that you have in your life, is it leaning more towards good stress or is it leaning more towards bad stress? And let me tell you the difference. Good stress. Thank you for the hearts whoever sending those good stress is going to be time limited. It's, I'm pushing. This is a lot. Hey, Luke. It's going on for a while but at a certain point it's going to come to a stop. Right. Whereas bad stress, you usually is a little bit more out of your control.
It may be you being in a situation in an extended period of time, it's prolonged and you're really expending energy in the wrong direction. You're, you're focusing your energy, your effort, your thoughts, your Time, your resources on things that really are outside of your control. So in this moment, over the last two or three weeks, are you leaning more towards the good stress in your life, or are you leaning more towards, oh, I'm in the season of some bad stress, and this is not a place of judgment, it's just a place of awareness.
So good stress still has consequences to the body. And so that's what I want you to consider. Because if you are a visionary, I love those you that are in good stress. This makes me happy. If you're a visionary, if you're a founder, if you're an entrepreneur, if you're a dreamer, if you're a parent, if you're a caretaker, if you're a father. Right. If you're single, could be a number of different things. You might have a tendency to ignore the signs that good stress is also starting to come at a cost.
Here's a few examples of what it may look like when even good stress is having consequences that we don't want you to experience. You may notice that your brain is wired and that you're having a difficult time settling down. Especially in the evening when it's time to wind down. You know that you're physically tired, you've pulled back from the. You laid there, you get in bed and you're like, I can't sleep. And it's not that you're worried. You may not even be calculating anything, but you're just wired.
This is going to be even more the case if you're someone who is neurodivergent. And along that spectrum of neurodivergency, other things that you might experience is skipping meals or under eating. So you might be living off of caffeine all day. Now, this is my morning cup, I'm not gonna have it all day. But if you notice that you're kind of on a caffeine drip all day and food is only coming once, maybe twice, you're kind of grazing here, a little snack there, and then there's this massive amount of food you're eating late at night.
That's a sign that there's a level of consequence, I use that very loosely, to the stress that you're experiencing. Another example might be over focus. So you're so driven, I have to be cautious of this one, that you want to kind of work and get things done and work on something all the time because you're so excited about it. So it's difficult for you to set any kind of boundaries for what you're doing because you love it so much that you don't want to stop. Now, I in no way am trying to discourage your passion, your purpose, your fortitude.
However, we absolutely know from a neuroscience standpoint and from a neurobiological standpoint that the body and the mind and the spirit needs rest. We will actually be more efficient if we pause, step back, pull away, get up, walk around, go outside for a moment, smell some fresh air, even if it's freezing, just a moment, look out a window and allow the brain to have some breaks throughout the day. Every hour, your brain would benefit from a five minute minimum break. Sometimes people are cautious of that because they feel like, well, if I stop, I'm concerned that I won't get back on track.
But remember, if your good stress is something that you love, you're going to be more likely to do it. But I promise, I dare you to try me. That's the application. That's the tool for this week. I want you to make a note. Throughout the week, I want you to get a little post it, put it beside your computer, on your desk, desk in your car. Just don't, you know, mess with the way you're driving. And every time you take a two, I'm gonna be nice. A two to five minute pause. Once you put a little splash mark, right?
Just a little slash mark and then see what you notice. What's the difference at the end of your typical day? That's tool one. The last tool I want to give you is called a hard stop. Every single day, I want you to determine, based on how I feel right now, the people in my life that are important to me that I want to have energy for based on what's coming up for the rest of the week, Right? So we want to talk about the energy that we need and desire for the rest of the week. What time would be a great hard stop today?
So it doesn't have to be all or none. You don't have to go. I'm stopping at 4 o' clock every day, unless you want to. One day it might be four, another day it might be 7:30. I know that I have a day that changed and so I'm going to have a later day today. But I also know that in order for me to get through what I need to get through for the rest of the week, my hard stop still has to exist tonight. I've got to put the computer down, close it, wrap it up, and I'll add this extra. If you know that you're an individual that you struggle with the hard stop dynamic.
Get accountability. Community is so important. It's one of the most important dynamics. Did you realize that we heal better and faster and sustain it when we're in community? Right? So maybe you come back to one of these lives or you post here in the app and you let us know. So proud of myself. My hard stop today was at such and such time. That's your accountability. Maybe know somebody in this community offline and you reach out to them and go, how are you doing with your hard stops? I'm not doing great.
Want to be accounting partners, Pull someone in to support you, that it's not a sign of weakness, it's a sign of strength. All right. That being said, good stress or bad is still important for you to make sure that you are taking care of yourself. Please slow down today. Please pause today. Sit back, close your eyes for a minute, take a deep breath. Let's end in an emotional regulation moment. I want to invite you just to take a moment, close your eyes. Trust that all you need to do for the next 30 to 60 seconds is listen to the sound of my voice.
You let your shoulders soften, but your back is still tall. Your heart is still open. Maybe you place a hand on your heart in gratitude because you have another day of life. And then take a few deep breaths into the nose and out through the mouth and remind yourself this is a great day ahead. There's still plenty of time to accomplish all the things that you want. The world will not fall apart because you're taking a moment to center into ground. Take one more deep breath in through the nose, out throughout and then when you're ready, open your eyes and move forward with your day.
As always, I'm so glad that you chose to come to hang out to spend this time with me. I'll be back. I'm going to start doing a little bit more pop ups so always just kind of come back in and say hello and I hope you have an amazing rest of the week. And please, please know you are important. We care for you and you have access to us in this space 24 hours, seven days a week and all are welcome. Have a good one. It.
