  1. 0:01Jennifer Davis: Happy and sad aren't living on the west coast

Jennifer Davis: Happy and sad aren't living on the west coast and East Coast. Davis: Feel what you're feeling and know that that is indeed enough. She says there are lots of ways to being better, feeling some joy or feeling some sadness. Davis asks readers to write down what they are feeling now.

Hey there, Cadre. Good morning. Good Saturday morning. The days are still getting shorter, but by golly, they start getting longer. They start getting longer soon. I hope that you are doing swell. Whether it's warm or cold. This morning is one where you are watching Cadre today a little bit later, because maybe you slept in or maybe your cadence in your schedule is making you not watch the clock, but is being pulled towards other things like a conversation or a cup of coffee or a nice view out the window.

Chris Fortman, Matt Tappe, nice to see y' all this morning. I'm glad that I'm here. I'm glad that you're here. I know the things I know, and I really care about you. Nice to see you. Jennifer Davis. Good, good Saturday morning. My name's JC if we've never shared time and space together before, thank you for the opportunity, Jules, to spend some time with you. Write now. You know, on Saturday at Cadre today, we often talk about, you know, my big bucket idea. And that is enoughness that you are always in each moment, indeed enough and capable of doing something that has value.

It may not be the big glorious thing that you're worth think about. Here's a good example. If you ever saw the TV show Cheers, which takes takes place at a bar in Boston, and as the theme song goes, where everybody knows your name, where everybody there is so glad that you walk in the door and people go, norm, Chris, Matt, Jules. And there was a certain heaviness about this show because people were, you know, sitting on the edge of the bar and thinking and mulling and in that cruciferous and rumination state, and you go, gosh, why are they happy?

Why do they seem to be happy and chuckling in a space where maybe they're focusing on not happy things? And that's a really great case of happy, sad, sad. Happy is maybe, let's say. Let's say you have some holiday plans coming up, and all of a sudden you get to the family house and everybody's there and everybody's doing the things and the traditions and no one's fighting at the moment, and you kind of stand in the corner of the room and you. And all of a sudden, even though everybody's in the moment and happy, you're standing in the corner feeling heaviness.

I call that one sad happy. So in other words, happy sad when you're feeling joy in the midst of heaviness, and sad happy when you're feeling heaviness amidst joy. You ever felt these things? I think if you thought for a little bit you'd be like, okay, yeah, I've. I've been in that sad, happy state recently. Or I've been in that happy, sad space. Nice to see a speak wonder emotions, like emotions, the ability of, of kind of all of our systems, our nervous system, All the things that give us data.

Hey, the world's happening. Here's something to be aware of. All of those pieces of data are a lot closer to one another than we sometimes think. Happy and sad aren't living on the west coast and East Coast. They actually kind of share a trailer house. They live right next door and they're friends. They dance. You may be the person feeling sad happy, because as you look at happiness being shared, you may go, wow. And I know these moments never last. Or in the happy sad, you may be going, wow, I know things are heavy right now, but how wonderful is it that I get to be surrounded, that I have support in the midst of the heavy times?

And sometimes you start craving. You start craving those moments of drama or loudness or chaos. Or sometimes you start craving in the midst of that sadness, the ability to laugh through the tears, or vice versa. I raise this up today because especially as we get to the end of a. Of a calendar year, as we get into a season where there's a lot of opportunities to feel a lot of things right, we're often led to the binary, to the you're supposed to feel this, not this. What are we doing here? Cadre reminding us that there's lots of ways, lots of pathways, lots of lots of things you can do on your journey to being well, to being better, to feeling some joy or to feeling some sadness, which may be exactly what you're looking for right now.

If the world says feel this, don't feel this, and you're going, but I'm feeling that, not this. Feel what you're feeling and know that that is indeed already enough. That's my invitation for you today. Feel the things you're feeling. Name them. Even if you have to make up some words like happy sad, or sad happy. Y' all have a great day ahead, and I will see you tomorrow. Bye.
