Walking meditation

JNJean Nitchals

Recently, I’ve started a walking meditation practice. So many times when I walk Major I am on a conference call or rushing between a meeting or an event. Some days I would get frustrated with Majors slow saunter as he smells everything, stops for pets along the way, and simply is being himself present. So as the season changes, I find a slowness. A beauty in the slow walks so at least once a day I try to stay with major cause when he causes taking breath and allowing myself to simply observe what’s around me as we make our way. I’m doing a walking meditation. It’s simply about being present. You might even count your breath in and breath out as a way to ground. My invitation to you today, take a few moments, whether it’s walking around your house inside or outside, in a mall or wherever you find yourself . Put the phone away focus on your breath and discover something you may not have seen otherwise. I find in these moments I find a piece of myself.
