Josie, a holistic health coach, explains how sleep clears brain waste and affects emotional reactivity, outlines simple sleep and nutrition habits, and discusses hydration, electrolytes, and trace mineral drops for mental clarity.
Josie greets the audience, introduces herself as a holistic health coach and co‑founder of a beverage company, and frames the video on how nutrition, sleep, and hydration affect physical and mental well‑being.
Describes how sleep clears brain waste via the lymphatic system, explains that poor sleep increases emotional reactivity and amplifies small stressors, and offers practical habits like consistent wake times and morning sunlight to regulate sleep.
Covers how nutrition provides the building blocks the brain needs, notes the gut produces much serotonin, and recommends regular meals with protein, fiber, and whole foods to prevent sugar and caffeine crashes that can mimic anxiety.
Shares a personal example of feeling rejuvenated after drinking water, recommends trace mineral drops for focus, explains mild dehydration impairs mood and focus, and notes electrolytes like sodium and potassium are essential for neuronal signaling and are lost through sweat, exercise, and caffeine.
Reiterates checking sleep, nutrition, and hydration when you aren't feeling well, prompts viewers to pick one of the three areas to focus on this week and comment, and closes with thanks and well wishes.
Hello Cadre, how is everyone doing? It's Josie here. I am a holistic health coach and I'm also the co-founder of a beverage company called Charm. And I just wanted to hop on here to give a little reminder about how important nutrition, Sleep and hydration is for not only your physical body, but for your mental health and well-being as well and for your brain health. So first off, let's start with sleep. So sleep is the time when your brain clears out waste and resets. You have this thing called your lymphatic system and What it does is it basically is like the vacuum cleaner for your brain to remove all the excess things that it doesn't need in there and so that you can go about feeling more mental clarity and just feeling good.
It removes excess buildup in the brain. And poor sleep also can make your brain more emotionally reactive. So, for example, I know I experience this a lot, but when I do not get enough sleep, something that might not have triggered me at all on a normal day absolutely makes me so sad and upset. And I can have a mental breakdown from seemingly small things because I didn't get enough sleep. So it can make Small stressors feel much larger. And having a consistent wake up time and getting daylight morning sun in the morning can really help a lot more than you would think in regulating your body's natural sleep schedule and helping you wake up for the day.
And then nutrition is also so important for your mental well-being. Nutrition gives your brain the building blocks that it needs in order to function. And the gut and brain are also in constant communication. And much of your serotonin is actually produced in your gut, which is pretty cool. And so skipping meals or running off of just sugar and caffeine can cause crashes that can feel like anxiety. And so it's really helpful to have regular meals with protein, fiber, and whole nourishing foods, lots of fruits, veggies, et cetera, clean protein sources to support, steady your mood and focus throughout the day.
And then lastly, I wanted to talk a little bit about hydration and electrolytes. Just earlier today, I was in a, while working I realized that I hadn't really had much water today because it just slipped my mind and I realized that, gosh, I didn't feel the best. And then I just drank a big glass of water. I love to use these things called trace mineral drops. It really supports, really helps me with my focus and mental clarity. I had a big glass of that and now I feel completely rejuvenated and recharged.
And so sometimes it's all we need, sometimes all we might need is just a nice nourishing glass of water. And your brain is mostly water and even just mild dehydration can really affect mood, focus, and energy. And Neurons actually fire by moving sodium and potassium in and out of the cell. And so without electrolytes, your brain literally can't send those signals. So it literally needs those things to work. And sweat, exercise, and caffeine, those things can pull electrolytes out. So replacing them really can help support your brain's function.
All right, and then I hope that some of these tips are helpful. Sometimes coming back to a tangible, basic health topic can be so impactful for your overall health and well-being. So if you're not feeling the best one day, sometimes it can be really helpful to think about, okay, what can I do to support my sleep? What can I do to support my nutrition, make sure that I'm nourishing my body with good whole foods? And also, have I had water today? And so some of these tips can be really helpful in changing the trajectory even of your day.
And this week, if you could pick just one of these three to work on, What would it be? Comment which one you plan to put more awareness to. Nice. Looks like Davis is gonna have some water. Yeah. Absolutely. It's so easy for it to slip our minds, but it really can make such a big impact on our minds. Alright, thanks so much Cadre. I hope that you have a fantastic rest of your day and I will see you next week.
