Hey, everybody, it's in the kitchen with Dan. Sunday's at three. Welcome. If you're just tuning in for the first time, I'm glad you're here. My name is Dan Cunningham. I am a coach here in Cadre. I focus on organization, everything culinary and primarily how organization affects our mental health and our health and wellness overall. There is a huge connection between organization and how we feel day to day. And so one of the areas I love to focus on is the kitchen. We all have to cook. Most of us have a kitchen where we live, hopefully.

And you know what? What more important thing to focus on for health and wellness than what we put in our bodies. So I love to save money and time in the kitchen and pass that info on to you guys today. There will be no shortage. Well, hi, Brian. So I am going to show you how to make something that a bunch of us growing up in the sixties and seventies, maybe it wasn't until the seventies, had for dinner a bunch and it was Betty Crocker's helper products. There's hamburger Helper, there's chicken helper, there was tuna helper.

I think primarily they now focus on the burger Helper products. But hey. Hey. Good morning. Va, good to see you. We're talking hamburger helper. So I think they're now just down to the hamburger helper products. I'm looking at this really cool light on me. It's coming through the shade here. It's so cool. Isn't that cool? This reminds me of another tip that I like to give people. It's staying present and finding ways throughout your day where you can just be present. Whether it's a really cool sun shadow or flare on you, whether you're noticing like a bird in a tree, beautiful sunset when you're brushing your teeth, anything that you can take a moment and just be present for, it really helps us out and get you anchored.

And when you're more present, then you're more apt to make better decisions in every area of your life. All right, back to the helper. So this recipe, if you choose to use it, it's going to save you so much time and so much energy. There's different ways to store this. And what we're doing is we're making the hamburger helper that came in the box or still does come in the box. You're going to have it in your pantry. It's shelf stable up to a year. You can put it in a mason jar. You can put it in a ziploc bag, plastic bag, as long as it's airtight.

And yeah, it'll last for ages. So when you're done with this mix, which we're gonna make in a minute, when you're ready to cook your meal, you're gonna brown whatever kind of ground meat you'd like. If you want turkey, you could do ground pork, ground beef, chicken, whatever. You're gonna brown that and then drain the fat, get it back in the pan, and then you're going to add this stuff. And when you dump the bag or the jar of the contents of the helper into the pan, you're going to add one cup of water and two cups of milk.

You're going to bring it to a boil and then reduce the heat to simmer and cover it, stirring occasionally. And you're going to cook it about twelve minutes until the pasta is done. Now, you can use a bunch of different types of pasta, so the time isn't exactly taste the pasta as you're cooking. You're gonna know when it's getting ready. It'll thicken up. And so here we go. I'm gonna use the mason jar and you want a container that's large enough to hold one and a half cups of pasta. We're gonna use macaroni today.

Okay. And then so simple. It's gonna just save you so much time. Then you up to this? Are going to add a teaspoon of garlic powder. I grabbed the wrong one. These are great if you haven't seen these yet. Another thing that I love are these collapsible funnels. Anything that saves space. I'm a huge fan. They fold right up. They only take up that much space. And these are great because they, they're magnetized. They stay together so you're not always searching. And then there's even comes. It's a little lovely.

com shop the organizer man. I am an Amazon influencer as well, and that was one of the first they chose to start their shoppable video program. So I make tons of videos for them. Hey, Cadre. Um, thanks for hopping in. com shop slash theorganizer. Man, never while we're alive or you're watching content here. All right, jar pasta, one and a half cups. And then to this we're gonna add, we gotta find our teaspoon in here. And these are color coded too. After you use them for a while, you'll know, like the blue one.

Is the teaspoon. All right, teaspoon of both of these. Garlic powder. One teaspoon of garlic powder. These are cool, too, because one side is narrow to fit into the jars like this. You know, if you can't fit them like that. Tips and tricks from the organizer man. Another teaspoon of onion powder and two teaspoons of paprika. This is what gives it its beautiful color. A lot of people don't know that paprika is more than just for color. It is delicious. You can buy it smoked. So look at different kinds of paprika to work into some of your recipes.

Two teaspoons of that. A teaspoon of salt. It doesn't matter what kind. This is all gonna get cold cooked in. So I'm just using rock celery because that's what I grabbed. And we do one teaspoon of salt, and then this is what helps it thicken up. Corn starch. And you use one teaspoon of cornstarch. So, so far, the teaspoon is all we've even used. That's about right. All right. So, yeah, we only even have one thing to clean, really, and I just rinse it off. Here's another tip. You don't need to soak and get crazy washing every single thing in your kitchen.

Go over, rinse this off. Nobody put it in their mouth. It's cornstarch and salted stuff. So just rinse it off. You save the soap, you save the time. Have a little strainer next to your sink, and. And it's better for the planet, too. And it's another opportunity to get present when you're rinsing your spoon. Okay, now we've got our macaroni. We've got our garlic, onion, paprika, salt, and cornstarch in this pasta. Okay, now, here's another tip. If you want to flavor this, you can add two tablespoons of beef stock.

You can use chicken stock. You can use veggie stock, bouillon cubes. You know, you can buy it in the powder. This, we're just gonna leave the way it is. And I like to do that because I know this is my mix, and I know I can. I can change it up however I'd like. If you want to do stroganoff, when you're done and ready to eat, almost throw in some. You know, when the pasta is done and it's ready, throw in some sour cream and measure with your heart. Right. I always tell people, go slow at the beginning.

If you're measuring stuff in, you're not sure if you like it, go slow. Little bit of sour cream in, see how it looks, tastes. Add some more if you think it needs more, or don't add any, and put a dollop on your plate. Just think in a different way when you're in the kitchen, if you're not comfortable there and you'll have a much better time. So, anyway, I keep this the way it is because now I can flavor it however I'd like. So, you know, for the stroganoff, again, you can do the sour cream and the beef stock.

Mushrooms you can put in there. So this, when it's finished. One thing I didn't mention yet was you want to add some cheese at the end, and you can, again, use whatever kind of cheese you'd like. Now, this can be tuna helper, too. So peas, mushrooms, I mean, just let your mind go and get creative with whatever you want to add to this. Right? All right. So again, when you're ready to make this, you brown your protein, your ground beef, your chicken, turkey, whatever you choose. Drain the fat, dump this in two cups of milk, one cup of water, and mix it up and cook it until the noodles are tender and it'll thicken up once it cools down a tiny bit.

All right. So many more of these to come. Great ways to save time and money. Again, this sits in your pantry for a year. If you're busy, you want to get dinner on the table fast. It's economical. This is a great, great tip. Tell your friends and meet me back here for more health and wellness and organization tips right here in Cadre. See you guys later. Have a good weekend.
