You sir don't matter, will you read my book? Give to me is the right, will you take a look? It's based on a novel by my name Lear, and I need a job, so I'm gonna be up with my back writer. Faith, my back writer. I hit the pause right there. Little Beatles to play in on this Thursday. I never figured out what day of the week it was yesterday. I kept saying Thursday or Tuesday. Every once in a while I said Wednesday. But by golly, even if we don't know what day it is, we are still probably impacting others.

We still probably have a great capacity to care for ourselves and our passions and the world in which we exist in. So if you're having a day where you don't know what day it is, You are still incredibly capable, still incredibly worthy, and probably still going to do some pretty remarkable stuff out there. My name is JC. If we've never shared time and space together before, thank you for the chance to spend some time with you right here, right now in the Cadre sphere. I'm glad I'm here. I'm glad you're here.

I know the things I know and I care about you. In about 90 minutes, I'm going to be hopping on the television to talk about the impact of having community on your well-being and community meaning your people, right? Your those individuals that you walk through this life with. You may go, it's like, but I've actually lost a lot of family members and I'm I have strained relationships with other family members, or I don't know my neighbors, or my friends are always too busy to hang out. You may go, I don't have community.

And that's a real thing. 30% of people in the United States say that they are lonely. And 25% of people in the United States say they don't have access to emotional emotional support, social support, those systems that we're talking about. So the big thing I want you to consider today is not the power of community, because I think we all know that, but the how do we do it? How do we form it? And I always bring a couple of things. Why is it hard? Because people are busy. We expect too much of ourselves and others.

Like what is the threshold for being in one's community? Another reason why it's hard is because the world is divided. And lastly, it's always thrown out there. social media is ruining the world. If you hear anybody say something that sounds simple in addressing a complex problem, run. Simple solutions to complex problems never lead you anywhere good. And I don't say never often, but I truly think, because I see it and I live in it, that anytime someone tries to throw something really simple sounding at something really complex, it doesn't actually get you to a space of going, oh, because that complexity is there for a reason.

Anyways, let's talk about each of these things. Yes, people are busy. And even though people are busy, you're still in this space where community is happening. Whether it be you walking down your neighborhood streets and seeing your neighbor to give them a nod, Whether it's your barista, whether it's the parents you see at your kid's soccer game, or whether it's your co-workers that you hop on a Teams call or a Meet call or a Zoom call or a WebEx call, or you see walking down the hallway, those people count.

They are a part of your community. So honor those moments. Your barista may be the person who makes you go, you know what, I'm not alone. because my barista knows my name or my barista recognizes me on the second day. Hey Emily, nice to see you. Number 2, we expect too much of ourselves. Yes, you may not be able to get your whole community together for dinner on the second Monday of every month, but you can honor the moments when some of y'all get together and give yourselves and others a break when something's come up last minute and go radio silent.

So at the end of the day, we can give ourselves a really hard time if we're not the ones showing up all the time. Sometimes the best thing you can do for your community is say, hey, I need to stay on the couch tonight. Third point, the world is so divided. Yes, there are things that make us different, but the benefit of being a good neighbor, being kind and being welcoming is worth it. So at the end of the day, pick the times when it's right to fight and pick the times when it's time to smile and wish someone good and sit next to them on the plane and find some common ground because I may sneeze in a moment.

And we'll talk about the 4th point, social media. Yes, people spend more time on their tech today than they did yesterday. And technology is a phenomenal way to grow your community. Think about what we're doing right now. Your community may be rooted through a screen. And guess what? As someone who's lived that way for a long time, that's pretty great. I know I'm never alone. And I know I can stay connected with people who are far away from your busy by doing what we're doing right now. So my invitation for you today is yes, acknowledge that of course we know community is healthy.

And yes, of course we know it's hard to form. And there's ways to do it. So get out there y'all. Build your community. Make people feel good today. You have that ability.
