Chapters

  1. 0:01Welcome and grounding

Dr. Charryse opens with warm greetings, small talk about location and nail color, and guides a brief reflection on slowing down and being present. This section sets a calm tone and orients viewers before the main topic.

  2. 1:30Introducing false narratives

The host introduces the episode's focus on false narratives, explaining how they accumulate from childhood, relationships, and identity-related interactions. She frames how these subconscious messages can quietly shape behavior and announces a list of five hidden ways they show up.

  3. 3:29Minimizing and overworking

Dr. Charryse describes the first two patterns: downplaying accomplishments and overworking to feel worthy. She offers personal reflection and prompts viewers to consider whether they accept praise or use busyness to validate themselves.

  4. 4:45Unhealthy ties and self-sabotage

The host outlines two more ways false narratives limit people: staying in relationships that don't honor them and unconsciously undermining new opportunities. She encourages reflection on why we might expect failure or delay stepping forward.

  5. 5:32Struggling to receive support

Dr. Charryse highlights a common narrative that makes receiving support hard, invites viewer interaction, and shares her own ongoing work around trust and vulnerability in asking for help.

  6. 6:16Awareness and rewriting story

She invites viewers to notice where false narratives create unnecessary struggle, reminds them that beliefs shape becoming, and affirms the power to rewrite one’s story. The host reassures listeners that discomfort can be a sign of growth rather than error.

  7. 7:39Closing and community

Dr. Charryse offers congratulations, encourages continued practice, and closes with community reminders and well-wishes. This brief wrap-up points viewers to future content and affirms belonging.

Hello dear souls. It is another incredible opportunity to be alive, to be present, and to breathe. What's up JC? So good to see you. I have actually been really focusing on that. Slowing down, being present, and being right where my feet are. knowing what's happening in each moment, not expecting myself to rush through it at a million miles in an hour, and honestly just asking myself, where am I? What do I need? Hello, Jules. And am I willing to honor what I need? Because that's real. That we can know what we need and the whole dynamic of actually making the changes and honoring it are very different.

It's been a while since I've been in this space. I feel like my life has been all over the place in so many different time zones, but I've had the privilege while I've stepped back to enjoy many of you who are contributors and engaging and interacting with you. As always, let me know where you are in the world. Thank you. Wanted to do something fun for the Nail Color. I was in Minnesota a few days ago. I'm back in Charlotte right now, but I'll be back in Minnesota very soon. Today I just want to take a moment and really talk about some of the false narratives that we sometimes don't recognize are quietly shaping the way that we move through life.

And those narratives are accumulated over time and in spaces and places and interactions from childhood, from our relationship with other people, listening to things that are being said about parts of our identity that we resonate with or don't resonate with. Interactions where people have disappointed us. The list can go on and on. And it's not about holding on, of course, to all of the things that we've experienced that haven't been helpful or useful, But it's just really recognizing that sometimes we're walking around and operating from parts of our subconscious that we don't recognize until we find ourselves in a space saying things to ourselves like, I'm too much.

I'm not enough. people always leave or my worth depends on my ability to do something or my ability to achieve something. And while there's part of our brain that logically knows that's not true, there can still be these parts of us that hear those whispers and they make us shrink. or withdraw or second guess ourselves or prolong something that we know that we really want because those narratives are playing in the background. And so I wanna talk about this for a little while as we go through the weeks and I continue to engage more, but I wanna focus on for the next few minutes, five hidden ways that you may recognize yourself living from a place of limitation and having a false narrative that is impacting your life, although quietly and loudly all at the same time.

Number one, you minimize your accomplishments. Tell me, are you a person, honestly, that you are comfortable receiving praise or being okay with being proud of the things that you do? I still have to work at that. There's a lot of things that I do and I'm passionate about the things that I do, but I don't always do well allowing myself to recognize the magnitude of those things. And it's a work in progress, right? So number one, you might say things like, I just got lucky or it was nothing, but it was.

Number two, you overwork to prove your worth, whether that's unintentionally, whether it's a narrative that you developed growing up or believe has to be true because of who you are. And so sometimes we have that quiet part of us that is saying to ourselves, like, if I do more, I'll finally feel enough. Yeah, Jules, I agree. Like 50-50 depends on what it is, depends on the dynamic and the situation. And sometimes we can like let ourselves know that there's an accomplishment and then like, but was that too much?

Like, I don't want anybody to think, you know, the wrong thing. So number one, you minimize your accomplishments. Number two, you overwork to prove your worth. Number three, In some areas of your life, you might tolerate unhealthy relationships. And that can be because you're also empathetic. It can be because you want to see the best in other people. But it can also be a quiet narrative that keeps us kind of entangled in relationships that don't honor who we are or who we are becoming. So that's something for reflection for you.

Number four, you sabotage opportunities, maybe not intentionally. But it could be a mental dynamic where you're almost expecting something to go wrong or telling yourself what if it all falls apart. Maybe I shouldn't do this. Maybe I need to wait. Maybe I need to go and do all of these other things before I give myself an opportunity to step forward into something that you're probably ready for right now. And then #5, you struggle to receive support. I cannot miss this moment. Raise your hand, put up your emoji, say it's me.

How do you do with receiving support? I will be honest, it depends, right? It depends on the situation, the level of vulnerability and the person. I will say out of my own lived experience that I am working on my ability to ask for and receive supports, just not something I've had or always felt I could trust. And those are narratives that only take you so far, all right? So as you go forward, I want you to consider if you are aware, starting to notice that there, thank you, Jules, is any part of you that is allowing a false narrative to have place in your life in a way that is just creating challenge or a pace or a struggle that's different from what you really want.

And I want you to remind yourself and we'll continue to talk about this that you become what you believe. Just like we have false narratives that sometimes have been inherited and told to us too many times, We also have the ability to rewrite our story, to rewrite our narrative. And even if you don't believe what you're becoming right now, the more you sit in it and stand in it and stay present, the more comfortable it will become. And I'll say this as a final thought. Discomfort is not a sign to retreat.

When you are working towards believing something new and different about yourself, and it feels very uncomfortable, you might feel guilty, it might feel overwhelming, it's not always a sign that you're doing something wrong. Sometimes, it's just a sign that you are doing. And over time, you'll adjust. Congratulations on your new career drills. Yeah, that's real, right? Seven months ago, and still feel like, but you're doing it, you're in it, and I'm sure you are doing something wonderful and amazing out into the world.

Oh my goodness, it felt so good to be here with all of you. I will return to a very normal cadence soon. Until then, just kind of follow and keep yourself aware for the little calendar reminders that you get. And remember, you belong in the quadrasphere. We're always glad that you're here, this is your community, And there are always many ways to be well. Do the best that you can. Talk to you soon.
