Hey Cadre, how are we doing on, on, on, on this Tuesday? I think Tuesday is the day that I struggle to remember what day it is the most. I get this moment every day where I get to go, Hey, good morning Cadre, happy. And in that second, my brain has to go, Hmm, what day of the week is it? For some reason, Tuesday is always the one that I have to take a moment the longest on to go, It's Tuesday. What about for you? These little kind of meat thermometer checks are really important to do because they give you information about who you are, how you are, in the moment that you are.

And I think that's one really great way to look at what CADRE is doing in this world. It's inviting you to think, where am I? How am I? And then once we know the answer to those two questions, where am I? How am I? Then we can consider what are we going to do? Good morning, Emily. I'm glad I'm here. I'm glad you're here. I know the things I know and I care about you. And CADRE today is that opportunity for you to meet thermometer and go, hmm, yeah, this is where I am. This is how information is hitting me.

This is how I'm seeing my capacity and my capability in this moment, which then allows you to walk into the world and go, Here we go. It's interesting. We all have power. We all have influence. I often love saying in an age of influencers, somehow we've been convinced without even knowing it that if they're influencers, people who are not influencers must not have influence. Hey, Dr. Sharice, nice to see you. It's a really debilitating, sneaky little pill that we're kind of force-fed that in an age of influencers, if influencers have influence, we start to believe that we don't.

We think it's like, Oh, we need to have influencers to share the thing that is special to us or to amplify the thing that we want to be amplified. I always love reminding people that you have the most influence on the people who are closest to you. You have the most influence on the people who find trust and calm and softness and clarity in you. So if all of a sudden you're going, Well, I'm not an influencer. I don't have a following. I don't speak in the right way. I don't use the algorithms or the game pieces in the way that they're designed to be used.

I must not have influence. It's not true. But even out of the idea of influence, if we think about power in general, power is not a stagnant You know, it's not like this little duck. This little duck, you know, no matter what, if it's hot or cold or if I'm happy or sad or if I'm rich or poor, this duck is going to stay the same, right? But power changes. So your quick minute today is the concept of up-leveling and down-leveling power. Let's say you walk into a room and people are looking at you as if you are out of touch in a positive or negative way.

Maybe they're they're placing you on such a high pedestal because you are the person, the power, the the the privilege, the the insightful, the thoughtful, the the the famous that you may go, I'm none of those things. Guess what? Because a lot of times people will see you as the one who has. And maybe they'll see you as the one who has because they see themselves as the one who has not. There are other times you'll walk into the room and people will look at you as if you are not enough or you do not have value or you do not have voice or you do not have perspective.

These are situations that when you feel the Ooh, I am above or I'm below. I'm too much or I'm not enough. I am seen as safe or unsafe. We get those feelings when we walk into a room. So A, acknowledge those feelings. And then B, consider how you can up level or down level your power in those situations. Sometimes if you walk in and people are seeing you as being above, you being the one with power, the one who does not see their reality. One of the best things you can do is share of your, I'll use the phrase authentic self.

Share the things that make you incredibly human, as opposed to the things that they perceive make you superhuman. And if all of a sudden you walk into a room And you can sense that people are going, Who's this person? Or, Oh my gosh, it's the person. Softening your shoulders, smiling at them, looking in their eyes, asking them how they're doing. Bonus point, if you share how you are doing, talking about things that have nothing to do with what's going to be in the room today. It's one of the beautiful things about weather.

Weather is something that we are all experiencing in a similar way. If it's hot out, we're all experiencing the hot. If it's cold out, we're all experiencing the cold. So one way that you can down level your power to create an accessibility or a solubility of your voice is to increase your authentic humanity. Now let's talk about up-leveling your power. Let's say you walk into a room and you are not the one with the power or the privilege, the one with the assumed knowledge, the assumed, Well, why is this person here?

Oh, we know why that person's here. They're going, Why are you here? Engaging with passion and investment in the thing that we are going to be sharing space talking about. is a really great way. Now I'm going to say simple, not simple meaning easy, but simple meaning few moving parts. If you walk into a room and you engage others in the conversation of, Hey, I'm really excited today to talk about the X and the Y and the Z. Here's a really great example. I had a mentee of mine yesterday walk into a second interview for a job where they have no experience with the subject matter.

And they started talking about how the interview went. They're like, you know, when I was talking about, um, how, you know, I don't, I don't really know about, I'm going to say tech, okay. Um, I really don't know about, you know, the, the specifics about this, this tech entity that, that this job is, is focused on. Um, but, and they spoke about how they had done work in the, in the, um, in the real estate space and how they'd done work within, the broadcast production space as a person who had not had specific experience in that space.

And then at the end they're like, you know, and it's really great because I, I often bring a perspective that others don't have in the room as the as the fresh voice, the fresh experiencer. So often I end up bringing up things that more experienced people with the subject matter don't see anymore. I was like, dude, that's the thing to begin with. That's how you up level your power, up level your prominence in that conversation. Because they may be going, who is this person? Why are they here? Tell them.

Tell them your investment. Tell them your passion. Tell them your courage and your curiosity and what it's bringing into the space. So my invitation for you today, when you feel something, when you walk into a room as if you are sitting above the others or you're sitting below the others, consider how you can down level your power or up-level your power in those first moments to create the start to the conversation. And when you do, watch what happens next. Y'all, I'll see you tomorrow.
