Hey, Cadre, it's me, Dr. D. I just got out of a really heavy session, so I am. I'm just trying to collect my thoughts. So please forgive me, but I think I want to make a pivot. So sometimes I might have a topic planned. Sometimes it's just whatever's on my heart for the moment. And this is one of those moments where I think I just want to share what's on my heart. So I just got out of a heavy session, as I said, and it just reminded me of the importance of connection. And I am. I'm really wanting people to recognize where they have connection.
If it's just with one person, how much that means to have someone to be able to say that you. You have one person in your life that you feel safe with, because there are so many people that don't have that, that have never had that, that are seeking that healthy connection in all the wrong places. And so if you can say that today that you have one person in your life that you can connect with, that when you have your darkest moments, your darkest thoughts, that you know that that person will listen to you, will not judge you, will not try to hurt you or attack you or use what you share with them, use that against you.
Someday you've got something special. And I wish that we could all be that for someone. And so I know that as my. My role as a therapist, I am that person professionally. My glasses are messing me up today, but I also know that in life, because who I am as a therapist, that's just who I am, right? So I know that I do that for others as well. And so I think about who is that for me? And I. I do have a great network. I have a great support system. I have. I'm the type of person that has individual connections.
I don't belong to a group of people that I feel deeply connected to. And so I'm. I'm very thankful for those individual friendships that I have of people that. That see me. They see different parts of me that I don't always see in myself. And there are people that I know that I can trust to call, like, if I'm just confused or if I just need to vent or whatever it is, and they'll be there for me, you know, and they're honest when they can't do that for me. And I think that's another piece of the.
The connection that we. We need to. We miss sometimes is the honesty between us. Oh, I like how that sounded. The honesty between us where we have to be honest, when. When we want to share something that is that we see about ourselves as heavy and dark, and we even question, can this person hold this from me? Or maybe we just question, am I gonna hurt this person that I love so much by sharing something that's so dark about me or these dark thoughts I have? And when we lean into that, where we're.
We're not having those honest conversations to ask the question, can you hold this for me? Or can I tell you this? Right? And we just assume the person can't do it. What does that do to us? And I think that puts us in a really bad place of loneliness and isolation where we don't have to be. We don't have to be isolated. So let's stop making assumptions. I guess that's my message for the day. Let's stop making assumptions that other people can't be there for us, that other people don't have the space for us.
And let's stop making the assumption that we're too much. We don't get to determine that. We don't get to say that we're too much for someone else because we don't know how big their cup is on any given day. Okay? So for people who are struggling today, who are hurting, who are seeking connection, who are feeling lonely, or maybe you're putting yourself in a position of isolation, I want you to know that you don't have to be alone. You're not alone. This space right here with Cadre is designed for you to not feel that loneliness, to have healthy and safe connection.
So tune in, you know, look at some of these videos that have been posted. Come to the lives. Right?
