Hello cadre. It's me. Dr. D and Dr. D is on the go today and I don't have. My coffee, but I do have some water because I'm trying to stay hydrated today. Y'all. Um, so I wanna get into our topic of the day. And I wanna talk about the guilt of letting go. So a few times a year, and I think it's probably more often than that because. My video and photo storage gets full so fast. But I often have to go through my pictures and hi, Shannon. I get to delete things just to make room. Right. And it, I noticed that I do.
This, um, and I really struggle to let go of some of the photos and the videos. Videos that I have of, um, people that are close to me. And I have this like strange feeling. And tell me if you experienced this too. Where, when you delete the photo of the video, it's like, deleting the memory, like you feel like you're just not gonna remember what happened. And it's really painful to me. And I don't know if that is a spirit, the experience of. Other people, but it's really hard to let go. And what I'm finding out as I get a little older is.
There are times in life where letting go of people. Is necessary, but it hurts. And sometimes there's guilt. Associated with letting go of the people in your lives. Because you feel like that attachment or that connection is supposed to last forever and that's just. Unrealistic. And we don't talk about that part. We, we talk about, you know, self. Self-improvement we talk about building connection, but we don't talk about letting go of people that are just. No longer supposed to be a part of our lives.
And sometimes the reverse of that is we're no longer meant to be in their lives. I am a true believer that people come in and out of our lives for a season. And if you think back on your own experiences, there are people that you may have met one time that. Left a huge impression on you. And you never talked to them. Never saw them again, but you'll always remember them. And there are some people where you've spend lots of time together. Where you build a deeper connection. Over time. And for whatever reason, it takes time to.
Um, get closer and feel like you can be safe with that person. And sometimes. So those are the people that we have a hard time letting go of. It's it's kind of like, you have to let go of the investment you made. In that person and the investment you made in the relationship. But there is always a time. To let go. And it doesn't always have to be something that is traumatic or. Dramatic or there's a fallout. It could just simply be. You've evolved. They evolved or one of you did or didn't right.
And so it just feels like that connection is just more painful. To keep than to continue. So I just wanna encourage you to. Be mindful when that's happening, when it feels like that, or it feels like there's pain. Associated with letting go. And why are you trying to hold on? Ask yourself that, why am I holding onto this connection that. Feels like it's more painful. To keep at times. And I don't know why I want to let it go. Right. So I think of, uh, the, the transformation I had. Um, I will say maybe with coworkers.
So like when you change jobs, you you tell yourself like, Hey, we're gonna keep in touch. Sorry. There is a. Trash truck going by me. So if it's loud, I apologize. (laugh). Um, but we tell ourselves, you know, Hey, we're gonna keep in touch. We're gonna keep this connection going. And the truth is that doesn't always happen. Um, most of the times it doesn't. And so there's this pain of even deleting their number from your. Phone or deleting their contact in some way. Um, because you told yourself I was gonna keep this connection, but it didn't happen.
And it's just a it's evidence. You know, I just take it as evidence that. You've changed and it's time to move on. It's time to let go. It's time to move forward. Just like the seasons, like we're, we're about to approach fall. And it's time to let go of things in the past and not have guilt associated with letting go. It may hurt, but that's temporary. Because what is coming? These new connections, new people you're going to meet. Even connecting with the new versions of yourself. Is gonna be a beautiful process.
And so I can't wait for you to see it. So I wanna encourage you this week to. Go through your context in your phone. Go through your email context, go through those photos. And think about some of those things that you need to delete. Some of the people you need to delete from your life. Even on social media, like sometimes we have to go through our following list. And delete the, the social profiles that. No longer fit who we are or who we're becoming. And it's okay. It's okay. So I hope you guys have a wonderful week.
Um, do something for yourself, connect with yourself because that is the most important relationship you can. Ever have, and, um, I'll see. Y'all next week.
