Happy Thursday Everybody. I am Ms. Shannon and I just realized that in my haste I forgot to schedule that I would be doing Comedy through the Chaos today. So I will record it anyway and see if my friends end up joining us because I did plan to be here today and just good example of how things just get in the way. But I am always happy to join you. I'm actually joining you from afar. Normally I am hubbing out of the great state of Minnesota, but today I'm join from the great state of North Dakota.
So I am in Fargo today and I wanted to talk to you about this and then I'll bring it up again and do a little callback to it on Saturday for our parenting edition of Comedy through the Chaos. And as we are going to be talking about harvesting things through the month of October, I thought that this would be a good thing to share is the concept of harvesting the patience and practice that you have planted throughout a variety of things. And for me that really came into place. Hello Shannon, I just realized that I forgot to say I was going to be here today.
Hello Chris, Good to see you as well. Good to see you both. So I will be here and I will remember to schedule them in the app for the rest of the month because I do plan on joining you every Thursday at 2pm Central here for a comedy through the chaos and I thought I would share this with you. Is that so many times, especially in our relationships as autism parents and caregivers and those type of relationships, we have to remind ourselves that we are doing things that may take a while in order to prosper and for us to be able to reap the benefits from them.
Here's a great example and I was glad that I got to have this last night. So I hired a PCA for my kiddo coming up on about a year ago. Great to see you too, Shannon. And so the thing is, my kiddo is very slow to trust. He happens to be 17 year old, he happens to be high supports on the autism spectrum and he is not the most trusting kiddo. I mean he trusts me. But then I get on his nerves sometimes because teenagers, but especially when I've been trying to like hire staff and give them enough time to build rapport and things like that.
It takes time. It takes time. And so what my kid's favorite thing to tell his PCA defe has been usually deaf gets there. And then for at least the first hour that he is on site at our house, my kid will tell him goodbye, see you tomorrow. Goodbye, see you tomorrow, Goodbye, See you tomorrow on a loop. That's it. Goodbye, see you tomorrow. Sometimes he tells it in a very funny, playful way. Sometimes he says it in a more, I mean, this, get out of my house way. It. It varies depending on the day to day, and sometimes from the first moment to the last time he says it, it goes through a transformation.
So it's hard to say, but he spends a lot of time basically telling this guy to get out. And the guy has always been patient. He never took it personally. He didn't go, hey, you know what, Ms. Paul? I don't think this is the right kid for me. He's not really doing that. And he has always just been a, oh, still, you need some space. So sometimes he'll just go back outside and sit in his car for a while. Sometimes he'll go sit outside on the porch, you know, and give, you know, my kiddo a little bit of time to kind of chill out and decide if he wants company or not.
Sometimes they just sit there in the same room together quietly, and he doesn't push any conversation on him. It changes all the time. But yesterday, when it was time for Defe to leave and he was leaving a little bit before 8pm and he went to leave and my kiddo said, no, go sit, and told him to sit down and then patted the couch next to him and was insisting that Defe sit down with him for a little while. And so they sat there for about 15 minutes in pretty much quiet and just were company for one another.
And I'm very proud of both of them that they managed to build their relationship and the trust that now, instead of saying goodbye, see you tomorrow is sit down and you need to stay. So even. Even if it sounds like the kind of command that you would give to your favorite pet, I'll take it. I'll take it. Communication in a variety of different ways is always welcome in our house. So what is it that you have been spending some time sewing, waiting to happen? And maybe it happened so long ago that you forgot that you were still waiting on it.
Maybe you had given up the actual concept of it actually turning into a positive outcome. Maybe you gave up on the outcome becoming actually manifest and coming to fruition? All of those are things that we do because we spend so much time that although we want to be able to harvest these things, sometimes we're like, we may not ever get there. And you just release it into the universe and try and stay present in the moment that you're in and go, this is what I can do for right now. So for right now, I have a kiddo that was happy to sit with his, his, his additional caregiver that gives me a little bit more peace of mind when I'm working and when I'm doing things like what I'm doing right now, which is an overnight so I can go and help a wonderful organization.
Their name is Bio Girls and I'll be their benefit auctioneer tonight for a fundraiser here in Fargo, North Dakota. So I'm glad that he has two people who care about him. So he has his pca, he has my sister. They'll be with him this evening and I'll be back tomorrow as, as, as quickly as I can, as efficiently as I can. Because I know that in his head, mom still does it better. So it's not personal, it's just the way that things are right now. So what is it that you have going on in your life right now that you may have been planting and sowing seeds for so long that you forgot that you might eventually get to harvest them?
Is there something little in that harvest that you can actually connect with that you're going, well, it took so long, I gave up on it. But now you're actually going to see that benefit, even if it's just something that's just a 15, 15 minute milestone. That's cool. And we're here to celebrate you with that. Celebrate with you on that. So enjoy all of those 15 minute milestones. Enjoy every little thing that you have. Let it give you a smile. Don't say that it's a bit, a little thing and that you're waiting for the next giant thing to happen so that you minimize all the winds that you have throughout your day because they help sustain us.
I will be back here on Saturday, Saturday at 10am Central. I will make sure I put it on the calendar so everybody knows that it will be here. And I'll be sharing some more stories with you because I appreciate being able to be in this space with you. Make sure you check out all of our other contributors while they're here. There is something in here, hopefully for whatever you need, when you need it. That's why we make sure that everything is available for replay so that you can come and check it out if you're like, this is what I need right now.
Hopefully you can search for it and find somebody to give you a little boost when you need it. And if there's something in particular that you would like us to share or make that that content is available. Available for you, please let us know so that we can make sure that we are fueling you in the way that you need to be fueled. So, hey, if it's not a Gatorade date, we don't want to give you Gatorade. We want to give you what you need. So I'm gonna go in here and check out this Butler arena and see what was going on this evening.
I appreciate being part of your day, and thank you for popping in, everybody. If the day doesn't treat you well, shame on it. Not shame on you. I'll talk to you soon. It.
