Hello, Cadre Sphere. It appears I haven't scheduled my October lives. So one, I'm a little late because I had to do the dishes, and two, you might not know that I'm coming on tonight. We are in day two of October and we're also in day two of BFRB Awareness Week, which is the mental health condition that I help people with. I'm not a treatment professional, but I help people with through technology, through the use of technology and getting, getting their healing. We've developed a smart bracelet that helps people with these conditions.
And October is theme is Harvest. And so the way I look at this idea of harvest is you reap what you sow. And right now, this week is BFRB Awareness Week. So. Hello, Mason, nice to meet you. Thanks for joining. Let me know where you're coming in from. And my sweet dog is whining so much for food. I have fed him already, but he sees an orange. Oh, okay. He's given up. So let me know in the comments where you're coming in from. I'm here. My name is Anila. I run a mental health tech company called Habit Aware and we help people with body focused repetitive behaviors.
So things like compulsive hair pulling, skin picking and nail biting, and we do that through the use of technology. We've developed a smart bracelet that brings awareness to the condition. So I pull from my eyebrows and my eyelashes and with that awareness, that gentle vibration can shift it from the subconscious to the conscious. And that idea of being aware, of being awake, being conscious and in the moment transcends. Right. Like when we are moving slower in life, in anything, in traffic, in parenting, with our kids, it allows us to not jump.
And as I say this, I am remembering this morning where I did jump because my son, I had put my coffee on the, you know, armrest in the middle between the driver's seat and passenger seat, and he knocked it. And I was just really flustered in the morning and I wasn't moving with slowly or moving with awareness. I was more focused on how I had to drop him and get back for a meeting and so wasn't there in the moment. Right. But that premise, the more you practice it, it works. So still working. I'm still practicing.
But I know that there are definitely times where it is working for me and where I'm able to slow down and do right by my family, by myself, and choose love. So it's October, it's the second day of October. We're here on Cadre in the theme of harvest. And it's also the second day of the awareness week for hair pulling, skin picking, nail biting conditions called BFRB Awareness Week. And BFRB stands for body focused, Repetitive Behavior. And the way I'm sort of tying harvest, that theme to awareness week is you reap what you sow.
And this week in our community, we are planting seeds of awareness. My pup is so sweet, wants to play, want to see him? Oh, where is he? There he is. Don't know if you got to see that. So we are planting seeds of awareness, a different kind of awareness, right? There's awareness of these behaviors, but then there's awareness on and understanding the information about these behaviors. So that's what we're planting. We're planting that seed in hopes that more people will understand these conditions.
And rather than, you know, saying, ew, that's gross, why do you pick your nose so much? Or oh my gosh, why don't you have, you know, hair over here? Or why does your face is all red and blotchy and bloody? That the hope is that with awareness people will understand that, oh, these, these are mental health conditions. These are self grooming, self soothing behaviors gone awry, right? And so that's the seed that we're planting this BFRB Awareness Week, the start of our theme of harvest. And I'm hopeful that whoever's listening to this live or on the recording is going to learn a little bit about what these conditions are and maybe even see that in themselves.
And feel free. If it's something that you, you've seen in yourself or in a family member or a co worker, come talk to me, find me, I'm here. And I'd love to get to know you and love to support your journey to leading with love, strength and awareness. So have a beautiful night and I'll see you next week. Bye.
