Ticker taping on into Cadre on this Friday. On Fridays you see people often talking about grief and loss. You can accomplish a lot of really cool things when you're not doing great. Dr. Charisse coming up in about 29 minutes to borrow the airwaves for a bit.

  2. 2:23The most recent school shooting in Minnesota left two young people dead and injured

Two young people were killed in a school shooting in Minneapolis yesterday. When you offer thoughts, whenever you offer services or time or space or presence to someone who is in a awful time, a really powerful thing to do. At the end of that message go, and there's no need to reply.

Sometimes you got to chase the heat. If you're gonna walk out on the main street, take the pee mandolin and you see a room. Cause sometimes it comes down to doing what you gotta. I'll hit the pause button right there. Mel Myers, how are you doing on this Friday? I hope you're doing great, Mafi. Nice to see you. Nice to see y'. All. Ticker taping on into Cadre on this Friday. Jules, how is that chilly crisp weather up north? Andrea, nice to see you. Hey, it is Friday. Nikki, I hope all is well in your world.

But if it's not, know that that is not prerequisite for a bad day. You can accomplish a lot of really cool things when you're not doing great. You don't have to, but you can. And you can be doing great and choose to not accomplish a lot. It's pretty cool too. Speak wonders. Nice to see you, Maffy. Good morning. Playing a little old school, actually. I guess it was newer. Garth Brooks in the grand scheme of things. But a little song called do what you got to do. It's a little bop. Check it out. On Fridays you see people often talking about grief and loss.

You see our friends from St. Croix hospice popping in sometimes in the live Stream. You got Dr. Charisse coming up in about 29 minutes to go ahead and borrow the airwaves for a bit and hold space. But I'll tell you, there's always things to be grieving, there's always loss happening. Sometimes it's far away, sometimes you're not aware of it, sometimes it doesn't impact you and other times it's literally right in your backyard. I am in Minneapolis and the most recent school shooting, or actually one of the most recent school shootings because I think there was another scare yesterday.

Happened just down the road, just down the highway and 17 people injured, two young people killed, including Fletcher Merkel, 8 year old, who is the son of two of my friends and former students, Jesse and Molly. You may have saw Jesse on the news yesterday. He bravely shared his voice after. After losing his. His eight year old son. So often when someone is in grief, when someone is in trauma and we are caring about them from afar and wondering what do we do? What do we do? Sometimes we don't want to bug.

Sometimes we do want to bug. But either of those times, I have a little tip and I'm not an advice giver very often, but I'm risking to offer some advice for consideration right now. Whenever you offer thoughts, whenever you offer services or time or space or presence to someone who is in a awful time, a really powerful thing to do. At the end of the message when you're reaching out, saying, hey, I'm here and I have for you, or I'm willing to, or let me know, yada, yada, yada. It's a great practice to, at the end of that message go, and there's no need to reply.

Giving people permission to override that part of their brain that says, ah, I have to thank people, I have to respond to people, I have to see people. I'll tell you, when I got married, the number one reason why I didn't want any gifts. This also goes back in high school, in high school, when I wanted people to not bring cards or money. Here's the number one reason I didn't want them to do that, because I didn't want to have to go, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you note, thank you note, thank you message, thank you call.

Because that type of exchange takes everything out of me. Five days ago now, my sweet little pup Hamilton died and his remains are coming back in the mail today. They're supposed to be here maybe in an hour. So I've been in a space of receiving lots of love and messages as well. And a hand. Few of people have put that at the end of their message saying, hey, there's no need to reply something like, hey, I'm thinking about you. And no, you don't need to reply to this message. That permission for someone who is in a state of already emptiness or purge or.

Or volatility, giving them permission to know they can receive what you're giving without having to give anything back. You may go, ah. Does it really have to be said? Yes, it is a wonderful thing to say. So no matter where you are, no matter what's going on, I'm glad I'm here. I'm glad you are here. I know what I know and I care about you. So go do what you gotta do, y'. All. We'll talk to you tomorrow. This is one of those tracks that it never got released from the album. By golly, it is a good tune.

Here's the line. Sometimes it comes down to doing what you gotta do. Do it, y'. All.
