Jean Itchels invites you to write down three things from last week with your team, your family, your friend group. Three things that brought you joy, three things you are grateful for, three wins that you have. Then type one of them in the chat.
As you start side hustles, you'll quickly start to find things that you don't love. The opportunity that we have is to celebrate what our strengths are, but also celebrate the strengths of the people around us. This can open up the doors to a new opportunity.
Hello, everybody. Happy Monday. We're here. It's another beautiful day. I had to pop in fast and get to a street I can pull over on. So I wasn't driving my car. Hence the car chat today. As I mentioned, my name is Jean Itchels, here to talk to you today about. Hi, Nikki. What's up? How's California? What's up, Rose? How's it going? Happy Monday. So great to see you. I literally was racing in my car trying to get to a street I could pull over on to jump on my cod to call. I almost made it home, but not quite.
But we're here. That's Monday. Sometimes we just move around. We find our flow and we go with it. So today I'm super excited to be here talking to you about strengths, but most importantly, not just discovering them, but also celebrating them. So on this Monday, I wanted to take some time and if you have a pen and paper, cool. If you're driving in a car, let's not do this exercise until later or do it as a mental exercise, but make sure two hands on the wheel if you're driving or parked on the side of the road.
But if you are able to take a note, drop it on a computer, put it on a piece of paper. I love writing on paper because it helps me remember and there's. There's just such a tactile nature to it. But here's my invitation to you. I'm going to invite you to write down on a piece of paper three things from last week with your team, your family, your friend group, three things that you want to celebrate, three things that brought you joy, three things you are grateful for, three wins that you have. So I use all of those different types of phrases because all of us are motivated very differently.
And so finding the right phrase to write that down is important. So three things to write down from last week, things that you you thought were successes, three things that you are grateful for, three things that brought you joy, three things that made you feel like you won any of that. And then my invitation to you is to type one of them in the chat. Just type one so I'll verbally share with you. Since I'm the live person. So three things that I'm celebrating from last week, I'm gonna actually cheat and do one from today.
But three things from last week that I'm celebrating. One, I reunited with a girlfriend that I hadn't seen in a long time, and we are starting to put together an event that we're gonna do together. So that is like a double win. I almost feel like that's a two win because one, I'm re energizing an old friendship that we just kind of floated away, nothing bad happened. But two, we're bringing our strengths together to co lead a retreat and we've evolved so much in the last few years, so it's really great to see that.
The second thing that I'm celebrating is we have a new instructor on our team that we've been training and they are really finally starting to step into their own. And riders in our community are seeing them stepping into their own because there's always like this period of time where someone's new and it takes a little bit of time to really come into your own. So I'm seeing them come into their own after a lot of hard work and training. So that is something I'm celebrating with the team now. Something I just want to celebrate for me is that I took a week off from running and I actually took three or four classes off from teaching.
Now, that might not sound like something to celebrate, but it is for me. I'm not an I don't over workout or over train for me, but I train a lot and it's because it helps me process, it helps me think, it helps me to release emotion. But I was starting to feel an injury and instead of pushing through it, I subbed out my classes and I. I took a time out and my leg feels great, my foot feels great. I went for a short jog on Saturday and it didn't hurt and it felt good. So I'm really proud of myself for taking that time off.
Rose writes in here that you're healing from a back injury. Oh, those are hard. I'm so sorry. Catching up on your laundry, starting another side hustle that you've been stalling. Meal prepping. I love this. Can I hire you? Are you in Minneapolis? Because I'm horrible at meal prepping. Now, here's what I love about this. Two things. One, Rose, you did a great job. You wrote things about you, which is awesome. So often when I ask this question, people will deflect to the team, their family, their community, where they felt the strengths or achievements were theirs or ours collectively.
Because sometimes we have a really hard time finding, focusing on celebrating us. But here's what you did. You celebrated you, and I think that's fantastic because we don't celebrate ourselves enough. Right? So when we think about celebrating the strengths of our team, celebrating the strengths of ourselves, these are really important milestones and I say this, if you manage a group of people or you are part of a team, we're really, really great at seeing where we have gaps. We're really great at seeing where there's Mrs.
And I don't know about you, but when someone comes to you with a problem, you all of a sudden offer like 16 different types of advice to them on how to solve the problem without even knowing if they want your help. So we're great at that. But the opportunity that we have, the ongoing opportunity that we have is to celebrate what our strengths are, but also celebrate the strengths of the people around us. So when we start there. So with my girlfriend, that is going to help me do this, co facilitate this retreat with me.
Words are hard today. What's beautiful about this is that her and I think somewhat alike, but we approach things so completely differently. Now. What I love about that is that when I think about hosting a retreat for people, not everybody that comes to the retreat is going to experience life through my lens or have the same strengths that I do or the same passions that I do. But if I have someone else with me whose strengths I can celebrate, whose strengths can complement mine, now, all of the people that come get the best of both, and they're going to resonate with me sometimes, and they're going to resonate with her sometimes, but collectively, they'll resonate with more than what they would if it was just me.
Now, I like to think that I can be the everything to everyone. Don't we like to think that? But the reality is that we're not, and that's okay. So when we start to celebrate the strengths of the people around us, we discover that we have more people that we can collaborate with. And the journey doesn't always have to be a journey of one. Right? So, Rose, I'm going to use you as an example here. You're starting a new side hustle around meal prepping. I'm going to offer up that you probably love meal prepping.
Maybe you do it for yourself. Maybe you love to cook, maybe you love to teach other people about cooking. But as you start side hustles, you'll quickly start to find things that you don't love. Maybe you don't love taking videos and posting them on social media. Maybe you don't love newsletters, maybe you don't love invoicing people. So here's what I've discovered. Being an entrepreneur for a long time and always coming up with new ideas, I know that I get to be my best self when I can find someone who has strengths that I don't have, but comes from the same values or maybe the same working norms that I do.
Maybe they also one of their values is making a positive change in the world. So we have that in common. But I can sit in a space of taking all my ideas and turning them into something, but then I get stuck because I don't always like to do some of the other things that are required. I'm not great at making lists. I'm also not always great at following a plan. But if I work with someone who is really great at managing a plan, then I'm a better person, I'm a better entrepreneur. I am able to better serve my clients because I found that partner.
So celebrating the strengths of the people around us also are very sneaky because they help us see when we're starting something new where we can lean on someone who is excited about doing something that maybe I don't love to do. So when I start to recognize that in other people, I start to celebrate that. Then I also find that they can start to see my strengths in a new way as well. And we can celebrate that together. So whether you're a party of one looking to open up the doors to a new opportunity, or you're a part of a team, a big team, a small team, any team, part of a family, a group, a friend group, the more often we can spend time investing in celebrating those strengths, the more time we can spend co creating cool things together, be more successful together.
So if you have anybody that you'd like to celebrate, feel free to post them in the chat. If you're listening to this on replay, type in the chat something that you're celebrating. And we can take those celebrations today on this Monday and we can look ahead into our week. Do we have more opportunities to do the things that we loved last week? Are there things that we're dreading this week that maybe we can change our perspective on or find somebody to partner with us on so that they become less draining.
So sometimes we need to look forward so that we can spring ahead. So thanks for taking that little check in with me today. I look forward always to talking to you. I'm here regularly on Sundays for me time. I am here on Mondays for professional development and I'll be adding in my September topics the end of this week so you can look forward to something more and we can collaborate together. I hope you have the best day. Celebrate that you're here. Celebrate you took a 10 month for you and we'll see you all soon.
And don't forget, be a good person.
