  1. 0:00Of the conversation we had at Cadre is about mental health, mental illness

There's a stigma associated, particularly with people in service, with trauma, with depression. Do you feel like you get enough support in general for that as well? I think it's getting better.

Of the conversation we had at Cadre is about mental wellness, mental health, mental illness, those things. How do we continue to support not only our community members, but our staff? Because that seems like something that would be a very big component of being able to appropriately be law enforcement and work on those things. Do you feel like you get enough support in general for that as well? I think it's getting better. I will tell you that. In my industry, it was not good at all. The number of.

We called it invisible injuries, but the number of people, men and women, that took their own lives, it's not talked about. The other thing is there's a stigma associated, particularly with people in service, with trauma, with depression. Which stigma do you mean? A stigma that it's there or a stigma that you don't talk about and you don't address it? Okay, both. The stigma that you don't talk about. And so I remember there was two incidents that occurred, and one of those involved, we lost an officer, took his own life.

But I remember going before the city council and saying, we have to do something different. We need resources.
