Hello, everybody, and happy Thursday to you. I am Miss Shannon, and there's something on my shirt. OK, that's pancake mix. Hi, everybody. I hope that Thursday is treating you well. I am in my kitchen. Yes, there are some dishes that have already been done and some dishes that need to be done. And you get to join me in this journey, because it is. Thursday, so we're gonna do our comedy through the chaos edition. If you're wondering who I am, the lady with blue hair, I am a variety of word related things like a comedian, a corporate speaker, a voice actor, an event emcee, and a benefit auctioneer.

And it looks like I have poltergeist in my kitchen. I don't. We'll close that. But I'm also the proud parent of an adorable H&O kiddo who happens to be high supporters on the autism spectrum. And if you wonder what I'm doing, right now I'm looking for my tongs, which are here, because I'm making late lunch in our home. And by special request, that late lunch is pancakes and bacon. Or are pancakes and bacon. However you want to. say that that is as close to grammatically correct as possible. So I always think it's interesting because there are certain foods that not only are flavorful in nature, but are also auditory in nature.

I think that bacon definitely falls into that category of something that is auditory in nature. And it just made me think, you know, today, you know, it's two o'clock central here. It's summer, so my kiddo slept in. So yeah, we're a little differently scheduled today for a variety of reasons. And we are the kind of family that often has brinner, which is breakfast for dinner, because although pancakes and bacon are quite often traditionally a breakfast food, in our house, they are an anytime food.

And that anytime right now is late lunch. I think it's interesting, especially as caregivers, a lot of times we end up comparing ourselves against whatever the norm is, whatever that expectation is of normalcy. And then I think that often once we can break ourselves out of that necessity of being normal, it actually is very freeing. Once I stopped worrying about, oh, am I making this, you know, I can only make pancakes for breakfast and that's when they're due and all these things. And he would ask for them sometimes in the morning, but it was too close to when we had to make it to school.

And so no pancakes then. And so You know, sometimes on the weekends, it's not quite in the timing for all of the other things that we have to do. So that doesn't mean that he never gets pancakes, does it? Just because our mornings don't go the way a traditional morning might be. So no, we do our pancakes when they make sense for us. No, no, no. Which means pancakes for dinner and sometimes lunch. The other thing that I personally like about pancakes-- gosh, darn it. I'm going to say goodbye in a minute.

The other thing that I like about pancakes is that pancakes require or allow for flexibility. I'm trying to knock it off the smoke detector, y'all. So that is done. I'm going to place this aside. No, no, no. The thing that I like about pancakes for him is that they provide a variety of flexibility. Because if you wonder why our pancake batter looks so lumpy, it's one of those foods that I can sneak extra nutrients in. So our pancake batter has a masticated slash mashed up banana. I have to put this on here before.

the smoke detector goes off I can't just let the griddle be griddling without pancake batter on it all right those the first round have begun okay back to you So my particular pancake batter is an opportunity for me to put some nutrients in there for it. So we have one mushed up large banana. It has some protein powder in it. It has some flax seeds in it. It also has a scoop of oatmeal in it and some fiber powder that I get to fit into it. And what I'm trying today, because I thought this would be good, I used a little bit of ginger water in it so ginger water sounds really fancy because I'm bougie adjacent but it's just ginger all chopped up in one of my tea containers and some water because I think it might be good I'm really working on his digestive health so I'm trying to add that in there as well um so yeah maybe it's a little weird that we're doing it at two o'clock in the afternoon but it works for us and there might be some things in your life that work for you, that you're sitting there going, oh, I'm supposed to do it at this time, or people are going to think, or all those things.

I say, bah, to all of those things. What I say is, you know, what works for you and the people that you care for, if they want pancakes at two o'clock in the afternoon and you are in a position to be able to do that and that causes a great deal of joy in your circle, let that happen. And don't worry about the judgment from whoever out there is comparing you to normalcy. Because I will say this, from my experience, normal is quite overrated. So I'm going to continue making these pancakes. I'm going to feed my adorable 18 year old kiddo, and then we will see what other adventures that we have for the rest of the day.

And that's pretty much the plan for this summer is to just kind of see what adventures I can put him in the path of, trying to have some variety of a schedule as much as possible, while also getting all of the work things that I have to get done and doing all of the things that need to be accomplished. So hopefully you are figuring out a way to blend all of those things for yourself while you're still caring for the people that you love and care about. And if you need more assistance, if you need more support to know, hey, You're doing it, and you're probably doing all the things, and you're probably trying to do all the things at once.

We are happy to be part of that resource for you here in the cadresphere. That's why we have a variety of different contributors that come up with a variety of things to share with you throughout the week. m. Central for a different variety of adventures. Look, they bubbled up. I did learn that. Like, don't push on them. You got to let them actually get to the point where they bubble and then you flip them over. The other thing that I've learned about pancakes is that they're better if you let them sit after you flip them and that you don't smush them.

Don't smush them. Just let them griddle. Just do that. I actually learned that from a Sid the Science Kid episode. Because Sid was trying to figure out why his grandmother's pancakes came out really great. But I believe it was his father who made them for him. And they came out, as he called it, chewy rocks. So they broke down the science of pancakes on Sid the Science Kid. So thank you, PBS Kids. And thank all of you. m. Central. For another edition of Comedy Through the Chaos, I might be on the road.

I'm helping a friend in Iowa with a fundraiser. So my goal is to hit the road so that I can get there by early afternoon. So you might get to drive along with me as I head over to Prairie Woods Franciscan Spiritual Center. on Saturday morning. So in the meantime, please be well, please take care of yourself, and please remember that I hope the day treats you well. If it doesn't, shame on it, not shame on you. And I'll see you guys back here on Saturday.
