  1. 0:02Miss Shannon is talking to us from her studio in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Miss Shannon is a comedian, corporate speaker, voice actor, event, embassy, and benefit auctioneer. She is also the mother of an adorable 16-year-old boy who also happens to be high supports on the autism spectrum. She will be talking to you today on caregiver day in the Cadre app.

  2. 3:05Warner: We all have our to do list. And if you wonder what that is,

We all have our to do lists, but what I'm also a big fan of is that I didn't list. I started this in 2019 right after I had my lovely anxiety attack as a caregiver. The way I I use my ididit list is to work on my sleep hygiene.

  3. 7:17Paul Warner suggests making a to do list of all the things you did today

Today I got to call Centerpoint energy and talk about a final bill for the rental property that I own. Instead of doing that all the time, I write down the things that are important that I know. If you put those down, then you can really see how full your time probably is.

  4. 10:34Making decisions from a position of abundance is very important

Yes, making decisions from a position of abundance is very important. It's a mental shift for a lot of us. I encourage you to give yourself credit for all the things that you do. If you ever need somebody to help you rally, drop a note in the chat.

Oh, goodness. Every time we do one of these, I go, I should have put on more makeup for the fine folks at Cadre. And then I decided that if I put on more makeup for the fine folks at Cadre, that means I have to take a lot of time taking off more makeup after I talk to the fine folks at Cadre. So I think this is enough makeup for today. Hello, everyone. We will wait to see if you can join us today in the live stream. If you're watching me in the replay, I hope that the universe is being kind to you in whatever situations that you're going through right now.

If you wonder, my name is Miss Shannon, and I am a comedian, corporate speaker, voice actor, event, embassy, and benefit auctioneer here in the Twin Cities. Hello. Joe pop joy. Oh, I love that screen name. Hello. Thanks for joining us. I was just giving everybody a little introduction to the chaos that is Miss Shannon. Hello. Additional Shannon Shannon with an o. Congratulations on some things that you've been working on over in your existence. Additional Shannon, I am going to be talking today, of course, on caregiver day here in the Cadre app, as you know, if you follow me, along with all of the things I laundry listed off that you would find on my LinkedIn profile or in the incredibly robust bio that I wrote for myself on my website, I am also the mother of an adorable 16 year old boy who I call Cyclone Kid, who also happens to be high supports on the autism spectrum.

Hello, speak wonder from Erie. Paul, that's Erie. I would love to know speak wonder if I should add that onto the agenda. And if I was going to visit Erie, how soon should I go? Is it a seasonal thing, like I need to come in the spring? Do I need to wait until fall? What is going on in Erie? If I was going to come visit? I am talking to you from my studio here. Oh, thank you. Radiant is a good word. We should all use that more often. I'm coming to you from my studio here in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and you can't see all of the things I have up on the walls.

Let me have to show you all that stuff. But this is about to be on the wall. This is a lovely sign that I got for my birthday. It says, well behaved women don't make history. You might be familiar with that phrase, and that was given to you. Given to me for my birthday from my best friend in the whole wide world and another comedian and soon to be content creator here in the Padre app, Tiffany Norton, who will be talking to you on Sunday nights. I believe so. Tiffany is a wonderful human and gave me that.

And I have a wonderful place of honor here at my studio planned for that. And I am going to try and find time to do that in the midst of all of the work that I have to do and parenting my child. Which brings me to the topic of things that I have on my I didn't list. And if you wonder what that is, I'm sure that we all have our to do list. That is something that has probably gone back ages, back to cavemen, I'm sure. Cavemen, they figured out how to make the wheels and then they got out their chisel and they scratched a to do list on the wall that said, figure out what I'm going to do with this wheel next.

That was probably what they did. They said wheel. Yeah, checked that off. Now what are we going to do with this amazing invention that we just created for our society? So we have our to do list and then we probably also have. Thank you. Speak wonder. I'm going to come. Summer is Erie's finest moment. Okay, good to know. That means I have time to check out Erie this summer and see what's going on. I do think it's interesting that when we have our to do list, and I am a fan of to do lists, and the reason why I like to do that is if you are like me and you function in the land of type a, high functioning anxiety, to do lists are very important to me because it's a way for me to get all of that, that out of my brain and onto something else so that I'm allowed to focus.

Because otherwise, I'm so worried about what the next thing is. And I'm so worried that I'm going to forget what the next thing is. That sometimes it's very difficult to get into flow and actually get something accomplished in an efficient manner. So I'm a big fan of to do list, but what I've also decided to be a big fan of is that I didn't list. And the way I I use my ididit list is I was really working on my sleep hygiene. And I started this in 2019 right after I had my lovely anxiety attack as a caregiver because I had not been doing enough self care.

And I said, the first thing I'm gonna do is get better at sleeping. Because if you try and live in that land like I was, it is a badge of honor that you don't sleep. Right? That's sometimes what we do. It's just a badge of honor. And instead I had to reframe that and go, you know what it is? It's also slowly murdering yourself. So I like that. Speak, Warner. She said, when I complete my to do, I say ta da. I love that. I might borrow that. Thank you very much. I will credit you, though. Speak, warden.

I'll say my friend suggested this. And so hopefully what I'm about to provide to you as your I didn't list is something that you can go, oh, okay, here. That taking that to do this to the next stop, next step. So for me, when I was trying to wind down at the end of the evening, and when you get to those, hopefully finally a quiet moment after whoever it is that you're caring for. And we know that we can't always affect when they wind down. So for us, sometimes that's when I all of a sudden wind back up and I'm trying to get all this stuff done that I didn't get done when I was caregiving.

So instead, what I had to start doing is going, you know, this is how long I'm going to work on things after I'm done caregiving. And I give myself license to occasionally break those habits. But I really had to start going, well, what am I going to do with my to do list? And I was very good at adding things to it and then getting salty at myself for not getting everything on this incredibly robust to do list done. And what it really took for me to free myself from that sense of disappointment in not getting everything done was to go well.

If you didn't do it, there probably was a reason. Right? And so it just made me really think about the additional things that we do throughout the day we don't give ourselves credit for and the additional things that we do throughout the day that take up time. And so it's completely reasonable that you didn't get everything done on that to do list, because the to do list includes all of the things that you get to not only hope for, but plan for, but your I did it list includes all of the things that popped up that you still took care of like a champion.

Today I got to call Centerpoint energy and talk about a final bill for the rental property that I own that my sister moved into. 05. I am so disappointed in the fact that it took me so long to do this. 05. 05. And then once I finally got to a human being, then they told me, oh, you know what, Miss Paul? Actually, we owe you money. You've already paid that. So at least I do feel like I got paid my hourly rate because I overpaid them, probably because I was moving so fast earlier that I paid them twice and didn't even notice it.

So you know what I'm going to do tonight at the end of the evening? What I do is part of my mindfulness practice as I'm trying to wind down is I sat there and I used to go, okay, do a mind dump. And I do my to do list for the rest of the day, for the next day. Instead of doing that all the time, I write down the things that are important that I know. I wake up at 04:00 in the morning when I actually should be going back to sleep and go, hey, remember, you have to do x those things I write down. But then what I also do is I sit there and I go through and I have a list of the additional things that I did today and I put those on the list and then I mark them off because that's part of the reason that you didn't get to those as speak Warner said Tadas.

So this is, I think, a good way to do a hybrid of what speak wonder suggested and what I'm saying with your I did it list when you put those down, do what speak wonder, does those count too? So maybe there are some things on your to do list that have to roll to the next day. But when you put down that and care of that final bill today with Centerpoint. Tada. And I cleaned the cat box today and that wasn't on my to do list. Ta da. Oh wait. I had to take two extra rounds and make extra round for the person I'm caring for because they wanted a second breakfast or a third dinner.

Tada. So if you put those down, then you can really see how full your time probably is. And it wasn't from a sense of lack that you of didn't get everything done, it was from a sense of abundance of all the things you actually did accomplish, all of the things that you put down there that you go. I wouldn't have given myself credit for the fact I did the dishes today. You know what I did? I actually cleaned my clothes today, or as I was starting the conversation, I took the time at the end of the evening to wash my face appropriately so that all of the makeup isn't going to end up all over my pillows.

All of that needs to go on your idea. And you know what also counts? Checking in today with us here in Cadre. You know what? You did it. There are lots of things you could be doing with your time, and maybe you're multitasking as you're checking in with us. Maybe this is your chance to actually breathe. Maybe this is your chance to sit there and go, I'm not the only one that is going all of this stuff. Yes, making decisions from a position of abundance is very important. Speak London. And it's a mental shift for a lot of us.

It may not have been something that was supermodel for us when we were younger. It may have been. If you make these decisions from a position of abundance, maybe you feel like you're being a narcissist. Maybe you feel like something negative is going to happen. And that's one of the things I'm going to cover next week, is being able to appreciate the good spaces that we have. Maybe you know when you're having that moment when you want to champion being able to make a decision from a position of abundance versus a position of lack, you go, oh, well, maybe I don't deserve it.

Maybe I don't come across as humble enough. All these things that minimize you, when really what you're doing is you're doing something that's really hard, not only taking care of yourself, but being a quality caregiver for the people that you are. Whether it's somebody younger than you, older than you, a sibling, a loved one, regardless of what you're doing, there's a lot of work on top of everything else that you're doing. And it's a lot of work for somebody whose job may not be refilling that bucket.

So I encourage you to give yourself credit for all the things that you do. Sometimes you're the only one that's going to pop your own collar and dust off your own shoulders, and that's okay to do that. You deserve it. And so we will continue together to make decisions from positions of abundance. If you ever need somebody to help you rally, drop a note in the chat. We have. Lots of people here are willing to sit there and continue to champion the things that you were doing and to say, I see you and I hear you and I say this from a position of I'm in that same boat.

There's certain people that I have to call sometimes and go, hey, can you help talking through this? Because today was a difficult day. So put it on your ta da. I'm gonna start kind of put it on your ta da list, like speak wonder said, I'm gonna see you next Thursday. You should pop around here in the Cadre app. There's lots of content. And there are so many people here that I have been just so fortunate to have them join my circle and for me to be able to join their circle since joining this family.

So find us wherever is convenient for you. If you have any overlapping, we'll say overlapping modalities. Kiri is a great place for you as we continue to be a good space as you are going through your mental wellness, mental illness, mental health challenges and triumphs. So we are here for you and we appreciate that you are here for us. So have a great weekend. If you are watching me in the replay over the weekend, I hope that it is treating you well and I will see you next Thursday.
