Ideas for simple, nourishing rituals to support your sleep and bring closure to the day.
Having a grounding, calming, consistent nightly routine can not only help us sleep better, but can lower our sense of stress. Anxiety can energize us and help us relax and wake up feeling refreshed. What are you doing before bedtime to create a ritual for yourself?
Hi, Cadre. I'm Rebecca Servos. I'm co founder of Marigold, and hi, my name is Roshni Kavate. I'm the co founder of Marigold. And today we're talking about your nightly rituals and why that's important, how having a grounding, calming, consistent nightly routine can not only help us sleep better, but can lower our sense of stress. Anxiety can energize us and help us relax and wake up feeling refreshed. So, Rebecca, can you tell us about nightly rituals and why they're so important for helping us get to bed feeling, you know, calm and also integrating the day so we can wake up the next day feeling refreshed?
Something that I really like to do to kind of bring some closure to my day is sitting down at a clear space and journaling for a couple minutes. And I'm not trying to write something with any expectation of using it later or its beauty. I'm really kind of trying to process what I've been through that day, especially mentally and emotionally, and kind of get that out on the paper. It helps to do this daily because you're processing and integrating in smaller increments. How about you, Roshani? What are you doing before bedtime to kind of create a ritual for yourself?
So, for me, it's really important because I work from home that, you know, there isn't really a separation from work and life. You know, I'm working, living, and it kind of blends into one. So I like to feel when I'm in the evening hours, that's time, you know, to wind down to get ready for bed and to think about the next day. So I like to change my clothes, wash my face, maybe do a little, you know, simple like oil and massage my face just to feel like I'm getting ready for bed. You know, this is the next chapter of my day, and when I get into bed, I do not want to look at my phone because that means, again, I'm on and I'm taking in the day.
So just trying to, you know, take my phone away, and then I take simple, five deep breaths with my hands on my belly and just feeling my breath. So it's very calming and relaxing to the nervous system. And that really helps me fall asleep. Yeah. These are simple ways that ritual can create a sort of separation between time periods, obligations, and, you know, just our mental space where we're at. So let us know, what are you doing before bedtime? And without judgment, you know, let's take a look at our patterns because we want to move from chaos to calm.
And we're with you, so let us know and see you next time.
