This week was just wild. Lots of ups and downs emotionally, lots of, like, fears around things that I couldn't control. What I've been really focusing on lately is just focusing on today and right now and the things I can control.

LZ: A girlfriend of mine suggested I join a women's networking group. She said it would benefit my business. LZ: For the first time, I had conviction as to why. He says you cannot run a business from an empty cup. Learn how to protect your energy with what you put out there.

Good morning. I'm gonna give it a minute. I'm in my Taylor era. I've got my extra large coffee. What are you toasting with this morning? Lemon water, t decaf if you're Luke Wendland. I'll give it one more second just to make sure that we are alive and in action on this lovely Friday, December 8, I believe. Okay, I think we're good to go. So this morning, I want to talk to you about. I mean, I always like to tell you kind of anecdotes about what's happening in my life and put them into a making your big dreams scenario and have what I'm going through relate to what you might be experiencing or what you could experience down the road.

And there's nothing better than, like, taking a real life scenario and just sharing it with you guys and having some kind of amazing lesson come out of it. Or maybe it's not amazing for you, but it is for me. And this week was just wild. Lots of ups and downs emotionally, lots of, like, fears around things that I couldn't control. And then a lot of, like, really great things happened as well. Great things in my product business, great things for my styling career. Happy Friday, Cadre team. What's going on?

So there were some great wins this week, and there were some really tough challenges this week. And I'm always aware that things are going to go up and down in ebb and flow. And so what. What I've been really focusing on lately is just focusing on today and right now and the things I can control and not letting myself spiral, because the more you put that energy out there, of course, the more you're going to attract that spiraling happening that's neither here nor there. All I want to say about all I want to talk about today is this girlfriend of mine messaged me this week, and she.

She left me a voice note, and she said, you know, my business is just really down this week. I don't know what's going on, and oftentimes, I'll be the friend that people call when something is going on. And I'm. I have, like, I do that to people, too, right? We all have those people. And she was just telling me, you know, but I just came out of this meeting for this women's group that she's a part in, and she was like, I really think I just feel like a different person when I come out of this meeting.

I've been so stressed about my business. I feel like you would benefit from being a part of this group. And she has asked me to be a part of this group on multiple occasions. In fact, a few people have that are in this group, and I haven't done it before. Number one, because it's a monetary investment that I have just had to weigh the pros and cons. Like, do I want to have that money going out? And number two, it's a time investment, right? So, like, where is my time best served? So every time somebody tells me where they think I should be, I'm evaluating the time and the cost and doing an analysis of where my time is best served.

However, there's always those old people pleasing tendencies, and there's always those, like, need to fit in and be a part of the group that, like, you have to sometimes fight on the left little shoulder of your body. And this week in particular, when she told me that she thought I should be in the room and that it would benefit my business and be really good for rescue kit and like the whole spielberg, for the first time, I had this, like, overwhelming feeling of just conviction as to my why. And people have been asking me to be a part of this for years, and I've been avoiding it and avoiding it, and I was never really clear on why.

And it just came to me yesterday. And when we had our phone call, after she voice noted me, we had a phone call, I was like, you know what? If I go into that room with 200 female entrepreneurs all trying to figure out how to make their big dreams come true, guess what I'm gonna do? I'll give you guys one guess. Guess what I'm gonna do when I go in that room of 200 females that are trying to make their big dreams come true, the networking group that's supposed to help me in my business, guess what I'm gonna do?

Yep, you guessed it. I am going to start doling out advice, booking coffees with people I don't know, sharing my great ideas on how I work my magic and do my business and innovate in my own business. And I'm not going to get one darn thing coming back to me. And this might sound a little jaded. If it does, it's because sometimes I am. It's because sometimes I am constantly doling out for other people and lifting other people, sharing other people's social media stories, sharing their business, being their shoulder to cry on, all of these things.

And I don't know that I get that reciprocated back to me in my business. And when it comes time to buy my product, the people that are closest to me are not always buying my, my big idea and my dream, and they're not the ones that are supporting me on the level that I've shown them support. It's random people on Instagram that are cheering me on that I see the orders come in from. And I realized that if I put myself in that room with all of those people, I'm going to pour into them, and I'm going to be sucked dry, and I am going to be trying to run a business from an empty cup.

And for the first time, I actually realized that, and it just came right to the top of my brain. Sometimes you have to dig for the answer as to why it's a no. And it was so clear yesterday, and I was like, here's why. I don't want to do that right now. At this point in my business, it's almost like doing charity work right now. Like, I can't do it. I don't have the capacity for it because I am the charity case. Okay, listen. I'm always trying to give back. But the point I'm trying to make is, you cannot pour from an empty cup.

And if you are giving to expect to receive, which I'm not at all, you might get disappointed. But also learn how to protect your energy with what you put out there. Learn how to evaluate who may reciprocate in the future. It might not be immediate, but who is a long term investment for you in terms of who you want to put your energy into? Because let me tell you something. It is not a room of 200 people that I don't know, that all follow me on social media that might want to hear how I started my product line, who I use for manufacturing, where I get my clients from, for styling.

While I want to help other people succeed, I am in a season of pouring my energy only into myself and my big dreams because for so long, I operated the other way. I poured myself out to people because that's how I gained acceptance, and I'm not doing that anymore. I don't need acceptance from these people. I don't need it. I don't need validation from them. I know exactly what my business needs to be doing right now. And although I'm not rolling in the millions, I'm listening to my gut and my intuition, which is my strongest tool.

So my message to you today is, how are you protecting your energy? Who are you pouring into that you know, is going to be a long term investment for reciprocation? And what are the things that you need to say no to with strong conviction. And then what are the things you might want to do? You know, a test yes on just to see and dip your toe in the water and see if it's for you. For me? I know for sure that this particular group isn't for me, and it's a wonderful group of people. I believe that wholeheartedly.

But I know that I'm going to get stuck in my old ways if I join this group. So my message to you is to protect yourself, whatever that means for you. Whether it's in a relationship, whether it's in a networking group, whether it's saying no to a business meeting, that you know that the person's only gonna ask for something from you. Maybe it's saying no to a job where you feel like you're just gonna pour in and pour in and pour in and see no reciprocation or results or accolades or pat on the back.

We all do need that. I don't care what anyone says. So really protect yourself. Think about that as you're working toward your big dreams. I love you guys. I hope that this encourages you to stand a little bit taller and ask for what you deserve and just own it. And I hope that this just inspires you. So I'd love to hear from you in the community feed and answer any questions or just start an open conversation. So happy weekend. I can't believe there's only a couple of Fridays left in this year.

I'm gonna make the most of them with you, and we're gonna go out with a bang, and I'm going to plan something really fun for the last Friday session with you guys. So happy weekend and I hope you guys have a great rest of the day. Bye.
