Hey Friends! Join me for a quick Monday morning devotional that will get you centered and prepared for the week ahead. With God, all things are possible.
Barbara: I am here to do a devotional. It is taken from my book, always faithful. Has a theme each week, which is really what I would encourage you to meditate on. And then I'll leave you with a question or two just to reflect on.
This week, the theme is be still. Quiet your mind and remove the distractions. Spend a few minutes each day and sit with me in silence. As you make stillness a regular habit, you'll begin to discern the voice of God more clearly.
Okay, we're live. It's been such a long time. It feels like. My name is Barbara, and I'm one of the content creator team members. And I'm happy to be back with you guys. So I am here to do a devotional. It's Monday. I thought, what better day to do something like this than Monday? Start your week off right. It is taken from my book, always faithful. It's a prayer devotional. And. And, you know, no matter what your specific beliefs are, I think we can all agree that we all have a creator, right? So whoever that is for you, that is fine.
I pray to God. I read the Bible, and that is what I base everything in my life on. So I created this devotional. And the way that it's formatted is it has three parts, maybe four. It has a kind of what I imagine God would say about the theme. So each week has a theme. I'm going to just fix this a little bit here. Hello. Hi. Thanks for joining. Has a theme each week, which is really what I would encourage you to meditate on or just remind yourself of throughout the week. The next part is what I imagine God would say to us.
And then after that, it is just my own personal thoughts on the devotional. There's a key scripture, and of course, you can read more about it if it's intriguing to you. And then I'll leave you with a question or two just to kind of reflect on or maybe even journal about if that's something that you feel like you want to do. So this week, the theme is be still. And it's so hard for so many of us, not just physically to be still, but I think mentally, I think we're just so consumed with thoughts every day, all day.
We're just scattered and overwhelmed with things on our mind that are going on in the world and in our own personal life. And so, just a reminder to be still. So I'm going to read what I have here for you. And again, this is the first part is, from what I imagine God is speaking to us, how challenging it is for my children to remain still. You are so busy and preoccupied with all the moving parts of life that you leave little room for me to speak to you and reveal my desires for you so easily. You fall into the trap of worry, stress and overwhelm and miss out on the peace and guidance I yearn to give you.
There is nothing that comes before or after me. I am all you need and I am enough. Slow down and be still. Quiet your mind and remove the distractions. Spend a few minutes each day and sit with me in silence. Listen for my gentle whisper. Even when you seem to hear nothing, I am with you. I eagerly await to fill your spirit with my goodness and cover you in my love. And as you make stillness a regular habit, you'll begin to discern the voice of God more clearly than ever before. It's so true in my life.
Just asking him to speak to you and then sitting there with open ears and an open heart will allow you to hear him much more clearly. And it's not like an audible voice, we all know that. But when a thought pops up or you feel like you just are nudged in a certain way, that's usually the voice of God. And the scripture that I chose to go with. This is from Exodus 1414. It says, the Lord will fight for you. You need only to be still. Because how, when we're so busy, when we're so full of different thoughts and worries and fears and to do's, how can we hear anything right?
So it's a requirement that we pause, we be still. We still ourselves, physically and mentally, to just sit with nothing. And I would even suggest building it into your schedule daily, taking just a few minutes just to sit in silence, close your computer, put away your phone and just be still. And I have a couple of questions that you can use to either just reflect on or maybe journal about just being honest with yourself about your own life at this point. On a scale of one to five, how still are you at this time?
And what are some ideal times throughout your day that you can set aside just a few minutes to spend in silence and just see what comes to you. You'd be surprised if you've done it. You know what I'm talking about. But if you haven't, you will be surprised that you just intentionally cut out just a few minutes silence, doing nothing, having nothing near you, no distractions. I mean, and sometimes it's nothing, but it just feels good. It's like a clearing of your spirit. So be still. Exodus 1414, if you're interested in the scripture that goes with that.
But just remembering to be still, I think alone by itself is so valuable and so important for all of us, no matter what is going on in our lives and what is happening. Thank you, Shannon. I'm glad that you did. I'll be with you on Mondays, the first two Mondays for now until my schedule clears up a little bit. But I'm glad that you do. And I hope that. I'm sorry my phone keeps moving, shaking here. I have a, an unsteady stand. Anyway, I hope that you enjoyed that and that it does something positive for you throughout your week, and I will see you again the next time that I'm with you.
Have a good week. It.
