Kimberly: Do not confuse success with the rewards of success. Success is never that achievement that we ultimately attain. It really is showing up and doing what you're supposed to do in that day that is truly success.
Good morning, Cadre. I'm a minute late. I'm sorry. I was running my test to make sure that the connection was good, and it seems like it's all good, so let's jump in. All right. I'm excited because right after this, I get to go see my daughter and spend the day with her in LA, which is about an hour, hour and a half, and hopefully there's no traffic. So that's what I'm up to. All right, I want to share my thought for today, which is, do not confuse success with the rewards of success. And what does that mean?
That means that we have this idea of success and there is an endless list, so I'm just going to throw out a few. Success, to me, normally would mean that I have done well for myself in life, maybe with my career or. Or a healthy, strong marriage or raising good kids. Good kids. Kids can go so many directions, but there are all these ways that we envision what success is and what I want to share with you today. And it's a very straightforward, simple concept, but it's this. That although those things are signs of success, they're just that.
Those are the signs, the rewards of success. Right. I logged onto Facebook today, and one of the first posts that I saw was from a friend who was celebrating her daughter's presidential recognition at the university she attends, which is such an exciting thing as a parent, to know that your kid achieved this, right? But it went perfect with today's topic because I asked myself, is this the reward of success or is this the success? And the answer is that she had to put in a lot of time and hard work and dedication every day leading up to that achievement and that reward and that sign of success.
Right? So success is never that achievement that we ultimately attain. Success comes in every single day. It really is showing up and doing what you're supposed to do in that day that is truly success. And a lot of us confuse that, and it could be dangerous, because when we lose sight of that, we can give up on our visions, we can give up on our dreams, we can lose hope. We can be very discouraged if we only hang on to the idea that that big thing at the end is success. It is not. It is investing yourself in so many different ways at work, just serving somebody well, doing your job well, loving your children, teaching them the best that you can, working on relationships by just being a kind, thoughtful, considerate person.
I have right now. I've mentioned this before. I have some big goals for my business, and although I haven't achieved those goals yet. Every single day, I do a little bit to ultimately see those. So you keep showing up, you keep doing what you're supposed to do in that time, and you will see the fruit of your labor. And so just remember, true success lies in every single day that you're getting up and showing up in the world. However that is, wherever that is and whatever that looks like for you, do not think that it only comes when you see that big end reward.
And that's the thought of the day. My eyes are so bad, but. Hey. Oh, it's Kim. Hey, Kim. So happy you're here. All right, I'm gonna leave you guys with that. I hope it helps somebody. It helped me. It gave me a little shift in perspective to remind me that I'm showing up today. I'm doing the best that I can. I'm working toward that big reward. Right. But I'm successful right here, right now, and so are you. Alright, you guys enjoy your day, enjoy the rest of the week, and I will see you again next week.
Hey, Janet's here too. All right. And Carrie, too. Bye, guys.
