It’s amazing what 10 minutes of breath awareness can do for your overall well being. Let’s take some deep breaths and really fill out your lungs to get the day going!
Well, hopefully we're live. I don't see the notification pop up. So if you are here, pop in with a comment and let me know that I'm live. Meantime, give me one moment, I need to blow my nose.
We're going to focus on increasing the lung capacity here. The last five breaths are going to be about 15 2nd holds on your chest to expand the capacity as much as possible. Over time, you do this over and over again, you're actually going to increase that total lung capacity.
If anybody is there, just go ahead and punch a little anything into the comments. I usually practice on my own anyways. So if anyone's here, let me know. Okay, well, I'm gonna do the practice.
All right, let's go ahead and start with an inhale. Fully in and out. Just find your rhythm. By the time that we come out of it, we should have a kind of different perspective on things. See you next time.
Well, hopefully we're live. I don't see the notification pop up, but it says we're live. So if you are here, pop in with a comment and let me know that I'm live. Meantime, give me one moment, I need to blow my nose. Okay. And that's better. All right, how's everyone going? Hopefully we are online. I didn't see the notification, but if you are here, go ahead and pop in with a comment for me just to let me know I am live, so I'm not doing this for no reason. All right, well, we're going to just give it a shot anyways.
So we're going to be focusing on increasing the lung capacity here. So we're going to be doing, you know, our regular breath exercises from the stomach, chest to the head. Those regular breaths, fully in, fully out. And what's different about this is on our final breath, after about ten reps of breathing, on the 10th one, we'll do five extra breaths. So 15 total breaths and the last five are going to be, you know, about 15 2nd holds on your chest to expand the capacity as much as possible. So I'll go ahead and breathe in and let you see one of those breath exercises.
So when we breathe in and hold to expand the chest, just inhale little sips but not letting air back out. And we can hold and feel our chest actually expand just a little bit more. So it's like almost going to the maximum level that you think. And really just packing in that last little bit of air so we can really expand the lungs just a little bit further than you think they're even possible. So we're actually getting some extra expansion out of this type of exercise. So over time, you do this over and over and over again, you're actually going to increase that total lung capacity.
So you're actually going to be able to breathe in slightly more than you did previously. Just like yoga, how you can stretch further after you practice enough. Same thing with your lungs. If you breathe enough and deep enough, then you're actually going to expand and stretch out your lungs, which is quite cool. So with that, let's go ahead and start with one of our exercises. I still don't even know if I'm live. I don't know if this is working, if anybody is there, just go ahead and punch a little anything into the comments.
That would be great because otherwise I feel very on my own here. But that's all right. You know, I usually practice on my own anyways. So if anyone's here, let me know. Okay, well, I'm gonna do the practice anyways. All right, let's go ahead and start with an inhale. And exhale. Fully in and out. Just find your rhythm. Alright, we're in about ten there. And so for our 11th one, we're gonna breathe in. Hold and sip. Hold at the top. You can squeeze just a touch and then let out. And hold. And in.
Sips at the top. Hold, squeeze, release. Hold. Inhale to the top. Sips and squeeze. Release. All the way out. And hold. Inhale. Sips at the top and squeeze. And release. And hold. Inhale, sips at the top and release. Okay, final one. Inhale. Sits at the top. Squeeze and exhale. Let's come back to a normal breathing rhythm. You can close your eyes if you like and just notice how you feel from the beginning of that exercise to right now. So that's kind of the point of these exercises, is the way we go in, how we are feeling.
And by the time that we come out of it, we should have a kind of different perspective on things. Typically a better one. Sometimes maybe not so much, but that's okay. It's just important to bring awareness to the sensations that arise during any one practice. So with that, you're welcome to continue your breaths. I'm going to continue my practice here and I hope you have a wonderful day. See you next time.
