Barbara is one of the Cadre coaches and contributors. She chose her topic of word of the day as foundation. Foundations or your core values, things that kind of all had to do along the same line. You have a foundation that you stand on that you live according to.

  2. 4:49We're talking about foundation, in case you missed the beginning

Every choice that you make in life is going to tie back to your core values and your foundations. Even though you may have some values that will never change, you might have others that will change over time. evolving and changing over time is completely normal.

Oh, I think I'm live. Okay, it looks like I'm live, so I'm going to just go ahead and start. Good morning, everybody. Or nobody at all. It's a man party for now until somebody jumps in here and joins me. So I was told I have to give everyone just a few moments to get in because even though we live in an instant world, people need a few minutes. So I'm just going to go ahead and give a few more seconds. And this is my first time in here. This is my first live. So my name is Barbara. I am one of the Cadre coaches and contributors.

I'm super excited to be in here with you and talking to you today. I chose my topic of word of the day or something close like that. And I'm a big person on words. I love words. I write a lot. So I'm always thinking about creative ways to use words in my writing, in my podcast, in my coaching, whatever it is I'm doing, I'm always thinking of a theme or a topic to kind of be set a theme for whatever I'm doing. So. Hello, Katie. Good morning. So exciting to be here. So as I was thinking about coming on the live, I thought, okay, what am I going to talk about?

What's the topic going to be? And usually when I put that out there thing will come to me. And so what came to me for this talk here was the word foundation. And I can't remember where it came from because I consume so much. Podcasts, books, church sermons, you name it. Like I'm always consuming and taking notes and letting things stare in my mind. And so that word came up. But it's kind of like when you get a new car and then suddenly you start to see your car on the roads everywhere. You're like, what the heck?

All of a sudden everybody wants my car. That's what's happened with this word foundation. After I heard it the first time and I've kind of felt drawn to it, I started hearing it everywhere. Foundations or your core values, things that kind of all had to do along the same line. And so what happened was as soon as I got that in my spirit, I went out and I was shopping for a book. I'm an avid reader, so I literally cannot go a single day without reading. I start twitching, got a book, I think it was at a thrift store and it was written by an author who I've heard before and that her, I don't remember the exact title and I don't think I would share it.

Either. That way, I can kind of keep it discreet on who I'm talking about, but it was something having to do with how to live your most glorious life or something like that. And so when I got home, I read the first few pages, and then I just had a curiosity. I thought, let me look this person up, because I've kind of heard some things about her. And by the way, I am a believer. So when I read certain books or spend time learning about certain things, I like to know a little bit more about the source.

That way, I can make sure it's aligned with me. Right. And so I did a little bit of digging, and I quickly realized that this person isn't necessarily coming from the same set of values that I have. So it kind of turned me off. And it's nothing personal. I can listen to anybody who doesn't have the same beliefs or the same thoughts or ideas, and I can learn from every person in the world. That's not the issue. But when I'm taking life advice, and because I take it to heart, whatever, if I'm soaking up information or advice or counsel, I'm gonna.

It's probably gonna settle some. In some way in my spirit. And so I kind of felt out of alignment, so I decided not to continue reading the book. But it just, again, it kind of this topic of foundation and values, your core values, right? Like, what do you stand on? What are you convicted about? And I think the reason that it's so important to be clear on that is because that's what guides you in life. And if you're not sure or you're not clear, then you're going to be all over the place. Right.

And so, again, I thought, okay, well, I know that I stand on the truth as I know it, and that's according to my faith and love. Those are probably two of my biggest core values. I asked my husband what his values were just to kind of play with this topic a little bit, and he said his were God, recovery, and family. So everybody has core values, core beliefs. You have a foundation that you stand on and that you live according to. And so that was the word for today. Hey, guys. Happy to see you in here.

So we're talking about foundation, in case you missed the beginning. And I have my notes because I get super scrambled, super easy, so it's food for thought. What do you. What do you stand on? What are you convicted about? What are you guided by in your life? And, you know, every choice that you make in life is going to tie back or connect to your core values and your foundations. So if anybody in here wants to put in what your foundation or your core values is, I would love to hear. I shared mine truth and love again.

My husband's God recovering family. I asked my son to, but of course, he's like soccer. I'm like, get out of here. Get out of my face. And one more thing about values and your foundation is that as human beings, we're always evolving. So even though you may have some values that will never change, you might have others that will change over time. And that's totally fine. It's part of being human and just growing throughout their life. I know I've had so many changes that happened inside of me where I used to value one thing, and now it's something completely different.

So evolving and changing over time is completely normal. No values. That's okay. So, want to keep this short and sweet? I should be in here regularly with you guys and just giving you a little bit of food for thought on a different topic or theme. And it's fun being in here. So I hope to see you guys back again soon. Take care and have a great day. Bye.
