Welcome back to wealth wisdom wednesdays todays topic: Learning to Be Present
Alex opens the live, checks the time, and introduces Wealth Wisdom Wednesday with the focus on presence and being in the moment.
He explains how saying yes to too many things made him distracted, especially during time with his wife, leading to rumination and lack of breaks, and describes shifting content creation to weekends as a remedy.
He counsels evaluating what to remove before adding new routines, describing pausing personal training pursuits after learning about his pregnancy to prioritize presence.
He advises lowering volume and pace of tasks, removing items from your plate to reduce emotional flatness, and shares that he already feels gratitude and less strain after making changes.
What's going on Cadre? It's your boy Alex Muir from Mindset. 59pm Pacific. I actually made it on time for this live. I'm stoked. And again, like I said, I'm getting back into the lives, getting back into the Wealth Wisdom Wednesday, Sunday Spark Sessions as much as possible. At the bare minimum, I want to do one live a week. And today's about presence. And it's something that I've been working on for a long time. And I want to tell you to help gain more presence more quickly. And when I say presence, I mean you're not distracted, you're not somewhere else, you're right here in the right now.
And something that I did, I had to do for myself because I just had too much on my plate. I said yes to too many things for too long. And it was starting to seep into my, me and my wife's time together, right? our time together as a couple and I was just distracted, right? Like how we can all get. Too many activities, too much thinking about everything, like life, work. And my mind just kept ruminating on and my subconscious, right? And I never felt like I got a break. So I had to remove my content creation till only on the weekends.
And I'm going to get back to batching all that content like I was doing before for Cadre and for my other social media channels where I would batch 7 or 10 posts and I do that in one to two hours. I have to do it that way only on weekends because it just, I can't be present when I'm still posting every single day and then I'm thinking about what I'm going to post. So that's just one example. So again, sometimes we have to remove certain activities or things from our plate, get them off our plate to be able to be more present.
And as much as we might want to add things to our plate, new routines, new books, new habits, sometimes we have to 1st look at what we need to remove first. So that's step #1. So I did that, removed content creation during the week, and I was training my colleague as well twice per week because I'm pursuing my personal training designation. But after I found out that me and my wife are having a baby, Again, I have to put that on hold on pause right now. So sometimes you have to do that, right? It's not, I'm not going to pursue it.
It's just as of right now, sometimes we do have to hit the pause button to also be more present. So if you feel like you've got too much on your plate, if you feel like you do have to remove some things or you're taking stock in some things that you need to Reduce, remove, alleviate off your plate. Your mind will thank you. The mental load of decision fatigue is real. And if we put too much on ourselves, put too much on our plate, say yes to too many things, we end up feeling flat emotionally and not being able to be present.
So find ways to reduce or remove. Reduce your volume, reduce your speed or your pacing when you're working on projects, business, your job, look at what you can remove or reduce first before what you can add new. So I hope you guys find this helpful. I've literally just started doing this in the last two weeks and I feel immense, immense gratitude and just way less mental strain from just removing just those two things off my plate because it was just becoming unsustainable. And we need, our brains need time for boredom, our brains need time to ruminate on other things besides work projects, personal projects, et cetera, et cetera, especially when your spouse wants your presence, needs your presence.
It's super important to listen to that. So hopefully you guys find this live helpful. This is your Quick tip for Wealth Wisdom Wednesdays from Alex Muir from Mindset, finding ways to become more present, remove or reduce what is on your plate to free up more mental bandwidth for future days and future weeks, months, and years to come.
