Happy New You! - Finding The Flow In Your Resolutions

BMBrennen Mathues

When setting a New Years resolution, it is not about saying some words you you wish you could find the motivation to put action into. A resolution should be about empowering your words with realistic actions that are actually possible for you. Sometimes, it’s all about baby steps first…

On here. Happy New year and happy new you. We're going to be going over today a meditation themed on the happy newYou.

  2. 0:34Going into the new year, many people make resolutions to improve themselves

Going into the new year, we typically go into this year with resolutions or an intention to try and better ourselves. Let's visualize what our intention for 2023 actually looks like. Everything is very possible to accomplish, no matter how big that task may be.

On here. Looks like we are live. So how's it going, guys? Happy New year and happy new you. So we're going to be going over today a meditation themed on the happy new you. So essentially going into the new year, we typically go into this year with resolutions or an intention to try and better ourselves. You know, typically it's something to make us feel good about ourselves, to do something that improves our life, whatever that may be. And it's usually something that's not necessarily an easy task, you know.

So going into this new year, I want to kind of bring that resolution into play, bring it up as an intention, visualize it, and really break it down for yourself, because I find that people go into these resolutions and it quickly becomes overwhelming for them. They sit here and ask for it. I can use this analogy almost where it's like, imagine, you know, you're sitting there at a dinner table and you're like, oh, please, universe, can I please have this to better myself? This is all that I want.

And the universe comes in and drops a big old elephant on your plate and says, okay, if you want that, eat up. Eat your elephant. And, you know, I think most people would look at that elephant like, no freaking way. This is impossible. I can't possibly eat that whole elephant. That's just a ridiculous task and leads to an overwhelming sensation. And you can't really, you know, you don't even know where to start, essentially. But when we really break it down and bring ourselves back into the moment and kind of understand the process and the bite sized chunks that go into eating an entire elephant, you know, it really is practical and we don't have to take on the entire task all in one go in order to do this.

So with that, we're going to start a little meditation. Meditation to bring that awareness into our, our field. We're going to go ahead and visualize that for what it is that we want. And no matter how big of a task that may be, let's try and imagine what those small tasks that we need to accomplish, even right now, right today, to actually go ahead and eat your full elephant and accomplish your resolution, whatever that may be. So let's go ahead and start by closing your eyes and finding a comfortable position.

And just start with a couple deep breaths, in and out. And let's visualize what our intention for 2023 actually looks like. Let's just sit there and visualize it while we're breathing. Just breath work and putting this thought in our head, you know, whatever that may look like. It's your elephant. Your elephant that you want to eat this year. By the end of the year, what does it look like? So go ahead and bring that into your field. Maintaining a steady breath. Once we kind of have this intention in place as a whole, as a big picture, let's imagine what, what is it that you would do right after this video if you could start right now?

Imagine the first, the very first thing. Even if you do five minutes on that thing, imagine what it would look like to work on the first five minutes of that task that you need to accomplish. Even if it's just one little baby bite. Imagine what that looks like. You can even place your hands out in front of you. You know, this is kind of like a general sign of acceptance, like you're accepting what's coming to you. So if you're asking for something from the universe, then you should have your hands wide, wide open, like you.

You can accept it because everything is very possible to accomplish, no matter how big that task may be. Hold it, grasp it, make it yours. This is your task. This is your intention. This is your elephant. This is your goal. And nothing is going to stand between you and that goal, no matter how long we just take baby steps now that we have our intention kind of ingrained within us. Go ahead and on the exhale. Let it go. Now let's focus only on our breath with a slight pause at the top and the bottom and recognizing the space in between our breath and our thoughts.

About five breaths here at your own pace, really focusing on the space in between. Okay, let's go ahead and take one big inhale and hold at the top. You can have your back straight upright with your posture and hold at the top of your chest here. Feels quite nice. You'll feel a sensation of heat, even. It's quite cold here and on this lake in Michigan where I'm at. And let's let that out. It's okay to just let it sigh out, all of it. It helps us to stay here, present within the moment when we add inflection to our breaths.

So let's go ahead with another inhale, and we'll have another inflection on our exhale. So inhale deeply and hold at the top. And on this exhale, we're going to let it out. And this is called dragon's breath or, sorry, tiger's breath. And you really let it out. And use, use your face muscles to really stretch it all out so it'll look something like this. You can do a couple of those. Really, it releases all the tension in your face. One last one fully in, and really let it all out. And let's return to a normal breathing pattern, and let's bring back that resolution one more time.

That intention that we set in the first place. Let's look at it one more time and see how it feels now compared to the start of this person. Practice. Does it feel different? Does it feel the same? Anything is okay, but just bring awareness to how it feels. Okay. If you guys want to slowly begin to open your eyes and bring some life into your fingers and your toes. I'm starting to shiver over here in this cold lake. I know it's a really cool background, but I am freezing. So I hope all of you guys have a great new year.

And this is a reminder that just because we have a new year and a new resolution, that it doesn't only have to be one day out of the year year that we create this resolution. With a practice like meditation, we have the opportunity to kind of have a rebirth every single day with that meditation. So if you really get into this practice, you know, you can have a resolution every single day and really be working at putting yourself in the present moment to accomplish the tasks that you need with the most efficiency possible.

Possible. So I hope you guys have a great next year, and I hope you found this meditation beneficial for you, and I look forward to seeing you next week. Okay, bye.
