All right, well, two guys walk into a bar, you think the second guy would have ducked? Have a great weekend and everybody stay safe. But get yourself into some good trouble.

All right. Welcome, Cadre. How we doing? Today is Saturday, and it's a beautiful day here in Los Angeles. I hope you're having a beautiful day. No matter what the weather is, I hope you're having a beautiful day. So I've been doing these every Saturday for a while now. Every Saturday is a different one, but today is a special one, a very special one, because I am going to be introducing my partner in crime, my main man, a key voice in men's health for Cadre, Dr. Jordan Smith, everybody. And. Oh, well, look at that, Jordan, great meeting you here.

Hello, Cadre. Hello, Jordan. How are you? Life is good. Life is good. Thanks for the invitation to join you, Dan. Oh, I'm so glad that you can. So now here's the really exciting thing. Not only is Jordan going to be a key voice, a new key voice in Cadre for men's health, but what are we about to do, Jordan, in, like, literally a half an hour, we are jumping into our very first board of directors meeting for the center for Healthy Masculinity, a new NPO based out of CO Culver City. Wow. So what exactly is the center for Healthy Masculinity, Jordan?

Oh, this is interesting. We should both write it down, then come back and come what our answers are. Okay, so I'll put it like this. For me, the center for Healthy Masculinity is a way for us to help ourselves and the world learn more about some of the issues that men face that radiate out into society as problems. It looks at, in particular, the connections between trauma and gender and substance use disorders, things like that. Absolutely. I think that's an excellent description. So the way I would say it a little bit differently, but it's a organization that is focused on bringing attention to the unique needs and issues of men in the areas of men's health, so specifically in the areas of addiction, trauma and mental health.

And we have kind of four core areas that we're focused on. Training, research, policy and advocacy and community outreach, community building. And so we'll be doing things locally and we'll be doing things with partner stakeholders around the country. And contact us and let us know if you have ideas for things that you would love to see a symposium about. You know, think about researchers, community leaders, political leaders, people in sports and the arts and entertainment, religion, spirituality, coming together to talk about these things.

What would you like to hear the center for Healthy Masculinity bring up? Wow, that's a big question. And, you know, as I'm. I'm thinking Kind of as you were, as you were talking, like, what are the core topics? I mean, obviously, like for me it's, it's. How do you. Well, like is it going to be research? Is this going to be advocacy? Is it going to be more philosophical sort of questions? You know, because, you know, we still have a society, society where men acknowledging their pain and their wounds is considered weak and soft and feminine, quote unquote.

And, and that keeps a lot of us in our pain, in our hurt. And so something that kind of addresses that. So around the masculine script and the kind of hyper connection and attachment, self protection, I think. But I think there's also the hopeful aspects of the generational shift in masculine performance and what we can learn about men from that. I think it may be like we've shifted a little too far. I don't know. I'm not exactly sure what that is. And then I just, I think the, I think as you know, I'm very fascinated in long term recovery for men.

And so I would love to see, you know, something that really delves into that. It's one thing to stop using and it's another thing to get some grounding in a recovery, but then it's another thing to become a really, truly emotionally sober human being, which at 31 years of sobriety, I may be like, got a foot in the door to that. So why don't we wrap up with just some thoughts about Cadre and the Key Voices. The Key Voices is something that's going to be rolled out here shortly. It's very exciting.

It's an opportunity for us to really kind of hone, hone in on some specific topics. And we're honored to be asked to lead the Men's Health Key Voices. And so in partnership with Cadre, the Center for Healthy Masculinity. You know, this is going to be an amazing opportunity to really push up against some of the status quo of working with men, of helping men, of thinking about how men are supposed to be worked with and helped and all of those sorts of things. And you're not seeing a lot of it right now with me and Jordan.

But we love to have fun, we love to joke, and God knows this is a deeply serious topic. But if we can't laugh at some point, what is the freaking point? So with that, do you have a good joke? All right, well, two guys walk into a bar, you think the second guy would have ducked? Bye, bye. Have a great weekend and everybody stay safe. But get yourself into some good trouble. Sam sa.
