Hi, I'm life coach and organizer Dan Cunningham. Are you getting enough rest and relaxation? Take a look at your bedroom. Is it a place where you want to go to rejuvenate or a place where you just dump things and close the door? Here are five things that you can do to make your bedroom more restful, more relaxing and more rejuvenating than ever. Grab a laundry basket or a box and roam the room and gather anything that does not belong in your bedroom and put it in the box or basket. Then head through the house and relocate everything where it belongs.
Don't do anything else until you empty the basket. Keep the floor as clear as possible. Get papers and books and anything else on the floor up where it belongs, on a shelf, on the dresser, in a drawer. Strip your bed and launder your sheets. Make your bed every day when you get up. It's going to encourage you to keep the space more relaxing and put together. Aromatherapy misters are great for rest and relaxation. Lavender, rose, geranium, jasmine. There's so many relaxing fragrances. Pick a few that you agree with and use them.
They work. This last one you may think is kind of funny, but get yourself a little plant and put it near your nightstand. Make sure it gets enough light, but take care of it. When you take care of something else, it helps you take care of yourself. It really does. All right, so you've done it all right. The floor is clear and the sheets are washed. The bed's made. The plant's doing great. There's lavender in the air. All your clothes are put away. Look around. Doesn't it feel good? I mean, isn't it a great space where you want to just lay and you want to retreat, you want to refuel?
Give yourself the gift of a space where you can do that, and then you'll have energy to go conquer the world, right.
