Tara Scott introduces something very simple called boxed breathing. When you find yourself in that heightened state and your amygdala hijack is going wild, which really just means you are in fight or flight mode. That can be a great way to really bring your nervous system back to a place of calm.
Hi, folks. Tara Scott here. If you struggle with anxiety like I do, and if you find yourself ping ponging around from meeting to meeting, feeling reactive, feeling stressed out, I want to introduce you to something very simple called boxed breathing. When you find yourself in that heightened state and your amygdala hijack is going wild, which really just means you are in fight or flight mode. There are lots of other modes you can move into, but to keep it simple for today, let's call it fight or flight.
I want you to do this. I want you to breathe in for four, hold for four, breathe out for four, hold for four. Do that for three sessions, three times in a row, and see how that feels. That can be a great way to really bring your nervous system back to a place of calm and allow you to really think clearly.
