This week has been full of mental health talks. This content will be available for you in the Cadre app. Choose one affirmation that speaks to you. Every day is a chance to choose something that fills you.
Dr. Jessica Green: I have been definitely blessed this week. This week has been full of mental health talks. It has allowed me to continue to pour into others.
Today on Me, we talk about the acronym of the word bless. It highlights that personal growth, but also acknowledging our sense of self. This content will be available for you in the Cadre app.
When we think about blessing, I want you to breathe intentionally. You know, when life feels loud, the first thing we want to do is to get quiet. But it's important that we do not getquiet. When we release, we're releasing a little bit more and being able to push.
We cannot be everything to everybody. But there's one person that we need to make sure we show up for, and it's definitely us. Choose one affirmation that speaks to you. Engage with purpose. Every day is a chance to choose something that fills you.
Hello, Cadre world. It is Dr. Jessica Green, and today we are going to talk about the different ways we are blessed. So I'm going to tell you what, I have been definitely blessed this week, and as I talk about this, we're going to wait for some others to chime in, but I have definitely been blessed because this week has been full of Good morning, Mel. Mental health talks. Whether I'm having it with students that are in a high school setting or if I'm talking to a football team about mental health, about peak performance and the importance of routine, not catastrophizing plays, but focusing on what's happening now to the point of this weekend where I have the hey, good morning, Alayna.
The opportunity to speak to single women. So this week has definitely been a full week of engagements, but I love it because it brings on that excitement of mental health, the excitement of breaking that stigma, that shame and that bias. Good morning, Michelle. That comes with it. So this week has been exhausting. This week has been full. It's been enriched. But it has allowed me to continue to pour into others, you know, as we pour into ourselves, you know, to today. So today, before we get started, I want to ask you, on a scale from 1 to 10, how has our week been going this far?
So I know today is Wednesday, so we're in the middle of the week. You know, again, as I always mentioned, it gives us time to figure out, okay, this is how I'm feeling in this moment, but what can I do in order to continue to have a great week? Because we can't change the past, right? The past is the past and there is nothing we can change about it, but we can change what we do moving forward. So today as we talk about personal growth, I want to talk about the acronym of the word bless. And when, you know, I talked about how this week has been busy.
There's been so much going on, but it also reminds me of the sense of gratitude, you know, the sense of being thankful for the things that I do have as opposed to things that I do not have. It highlights that personal growth, but then also acknowledging our sense of self when we talk about the acronym of bless and what it stands for. So if you have something to write with, go ahead and grab that pen, that paper, that pencil. And like I always say, if you, if you are in your vehicle, this content will be available for you in the Cadre app.
So you can either search the word personal growth or you can search my name and follow me. If you're not following Me already on Cadre. And you will find this recorded content so you can listen to it at your convenience. So when we think about blessing. So with the bee, I want you to breathe intentionally. You know, when life feels loud, the first thing we want to do is we want to get quiet. Good morning, Brianna. But it's important that we do not get quiet. You know, when we get quiet, sometimes we may tend to isolate ourselves.
You know, there may be an opportunity to go somewhere with family and friends, and we're just like, no, I don't want to do it. Because we feel as if the world is getting the best of us. So I want you to breathe intentionally. And when I say that, I want you to take a deep breath in. I want you to hold it, and I want you to exhale it. But there's a routine for that, too. So I call it the square, or some people call it box. So what you do just as a box, you know, you'll breathe in for hold for exhale four, and then hold four.
Yeah, my box looked a little sideways there, a little bit. But what you're going to do is you're going to breathe in four. Breathe in four, hold four, exhale four, and then breathe in four. Now, there's another method you can use, and I call it 446. Because I'm in Horry county, and sometimes those cell phones start with 446, so it's easier for me to remember. So we'll breathe in four, we'll hold four, but then we'll release six. So when we release, we're releasing a little bit more and being able to push, you know, that anxiety, that anger, that frustration, making sure we're pushing, pushing it out.
Now when we talk about, l let go of what you cannot control. And I'm going to say that again. Let's let go of those things that you cannot control. Because we cannot be everything to everybody. We cannot be responsible for everybody. But there's one person that we need to make sure we show up for, and it's definitely us. Again, we talked about, we can't change situations. You know, sometimes we outgrow people, places and things, and us realizing that it's okay, but us acknowledging and having the wisdom to know the only person that we can change is us.
So I want you to think about and write down what are some of the things that are stressing you out right now? And I want you to circle what's there for you to carry, but then let the rest go. So in that moment, we're circling those things that we can control and the things that we cannot control, we're going to manage our reaction to them so they do not get the best of us. So when we talk about E, I agree with you, Michelle. We got to let it go. Like Elsa and Anna says, let it go unfrozen for E.
Engage with purpose. And when I say engage with purpose, I also want us to think about engaging with intent. So every day is a chance to choose something that fills you and something that fills your cup. Purpose doesn't have to be loud. It's the small things like helping someone, showing up and fully being present. So we're in that moment. We're in that moment and not thinking about that to do list that we have where we need to get through the rest of the day. So what I want you to think about is start every day with this one simple question.
What's one thing I can do today that aligns with who I want to be? That one thing that I can do today that aligns with who I want to be? So as we think about that, I want you to think about what are some of those things that you value. It could be family, it could be friends, it could be spiritual, but doing something that day that aligns with the person that you are in the person that you want to be. So when we think about s, speak kindly to yourself. And I love that one, because a lot of times we're able to give others advice of what they need to do.
But in that moment, we think it's like, man, the advice I'm giving you is the same advice I need to give to myself. So we have to make sure that we speak kind to ourselves. Because sometimes that inner voice or that outer voice can definitely be loud, right? But when we talk to ourselves and tell ourselves, hey, this is something I would tell someone else in this situation, we have to make sure that we're kind to ourselves. And what we're telling ourselves would be instead of, I'm not enough, is that I'm learning, and I have come a long way.
And remembering in life. Speaking kind to ourselves is not a sprint. It's definitely a marathon. So when we talk about speaking kind to yourself, something that I want you to think about, so this is going to be your takeaway, is to choose one affirmation that speaks to you. I want you to repeat it during the day. If you're in the office, have a sticky note. Have it on your bathroom mirror, but somewhere that you see it every day. Because when we tend to see stuff every day, we start believing it and it sticks here.
So I want you to think about one affirmation that speaks to you that you can put on the bathroom mirror, you can put in your bedroom, put on the refrigerator, put it in your car in a sticky note, or even in your office. Because as I said, as.
