One of the things that really helps me when I'm experiencing depression is contribution. Contributing in some way giving outwards can reflect back and make us love ourselves a little bit more. I'm going to share a few more tips on my page as we navigate this winter season.

Contribution for depression what does this mean? So as someone who has struggled with depression for almost 15 years, I am very familiar with my symptoms when my depression rolls around. And I'm also very aware, even though I don't always use my skills, of what is helpful when I'm experiencing my depression. So one of the things that really helps me when I'm experiencing depression is contribution. So this can mean a lot of things for me. It could mean writing letters and mailing them to people I love.

It could mean volunteering once a week. It could mean offering genuine smiles, hellos and thank yous to people throughout your day. Contributing in some way giving outwards the love that maybe we're not able to give ourselves or receive oftentimes can reflect back and make us love ourselves a little bit more. So this can be really simple. It can be the kind of kind of thing where we check in on our friends or we go somewhere and when we see someone, we make eye contact and give them a compliment.

It could be something bigger, like making gifts or doing things for other people. In whatever way we can contribute whatever capacity you have for that. Oftentimes by giving or contributing in a positive way and creating a loving and giving energy outwards, we then feel about ourselves that we've done something good, which can increase our confidence or our sense of self love. Or we also are received with gratitude, which can create a sense of mattering or being seen. And that's really helpful oftentimes when we're experiencing depression.

I hope this was helpful. I'm going to share a few more tips on my page as we navigate this winter season, and as I navigate some of my own depression as well. I'll see you next time.
