Nick The Poet explores the vast world of creativity and how it can help your career!
Nick the poet: I hope your Monday is off to a great start. Let's do five jumping jacks and five push ups. Hopefully you could get a little bit of a walk exercise in today.
This week, I'm practicing being a bit more calm, cool and collected. Let go of your perfectionism and become one with the ways of the universe. Here's a little poem I wrote that might influence you this week.
Hey, folks, how you doing? My name is Nick the poet. Thank you so much for hopping on my live stream today. I hope your Monday is off to a great start. I hope you've heard some of the other awesome Cadre live streams today. Like I said, my name is Nick the poet. Thank you for taking this walk with me today. And I'm also going to throw out this if you want to do a little fitness challenge. I find that when I kind of, you know, if I start walking or start working out, I oftentimes end up doing more.
And, you know, this time of day, you know, could be a little. So just going to encourage you, if you want to join me, let's do five jumping jacks and five push ups. Okay. 12345 jumping jacks and five foot jumps. Three, four, five. I'm sure my form is not the greatest, but you get the idea. Hopefully you could get a little bit of a walk exercise in today. Thank you so much for joining. Alex. We just did five jumping jacks push ups. I know you can do many more than that. So just want to share with you today a little bit about my work week last week.
So I spent a lot of emotional energy on work tasks and communications, and by the end of the week, it really wore me down. I was getting excited and hyped up, and that's really good, but I probably would have been more efficient if I would have just relaxed a bit and taken some of that emotional energy and intensity out of the work to. So this week, I'm practicing being a bit more calm, cool and collected. I don't know if that's coming across on this live stream or not, but I've been practicing at work today, and I feel like I've been pretty efficient, you know, in getting things done, and it's kind of increased my creativity a little bit.
So just wanted to share that with you. Maybe that might benefit you. Another thing that might benefit you is there's this stoic philosopher named, I believe it's Epictetus, and he has this talk about doing the opposite. So whatever you're doing or think about doing, do the opposite thing. So maybe it's like, if you're thinking about getting stressed about this work task, do the opposite and just don't worry about it. Just take it easy. You know, if you're thinking about going left, go right. You know, if you eat with your right hand, try eating with your left hand.
Anything to kind of shake up our status quo a little bit and train our brain. And they really find that our brain and even our personalities can change to varying degrees. So maybe this week, just try mixing it up a little bit and doing the opposite thing. Another thing that you can do, and I really love this expression, is let go of your perfectionism and become one with the ways of the universe. And if the ways of the universe talk doesn't really resonate with you, just try to let go of that perfectionism.
And the perfectionism shows up, I think, in different ways for all of us. So maybe just ask yourself, how is perfectionism showing up in my life? And how could I let some of that go? And then also, I love this affirmation. I can't give credit to who wrote this affirmation because I can't remember. But when I remember it, it's really helpful. It's, I am constant creation of who I am. I am constant creation of who I am. So what I am thinking, saying and doing at this moment is creating my current reality.
It's, it's completing, it's, uh, it's influencing and impacting my future reality, and it may even impact my past reality in some ways. Now, that might be up for debate, but I think it's possible, uh, to do that as well. We can change our past, right? We can change our future and we can definitely change our present. Um, so, you know, maybe a new way, uh, to do things may emerge with some of these thoughts. Just keep practicing. And here's a little poem I wrote that might influence you this week.
It says, feel the joy within. Let it bubble to the surface and say, hello, hello, joy. Let it flow into your day and add rhythm to your life. Quit battling the stripe for a moment and just breathe and smile. All is well. Very tough today. Very tough to do, you know, when you're having a difficult day. But even on those difficult days, just take that moment to relax, you know, smile, breathe. It can help us get rowing in the right direction. So I also saw this quote from Tom Evans, who's a great meditation teacher.
And he says, if you look down, it switches the internal dialogue on in the head. And if you look slightly up, it switches it off. And so I believe he's literally saying, like, if you look down and this happens to me, I look down, I start pacing around, I go internal. But if I look up slightly, it takes me out of that, switches off that part of the brain, turns on the creative flow state a little bit. So these are some thoughts with you today. Definitely a little bit random, a lot of them, but I hope they form some kind of synthesis.
For you. You're able to take these into the next week. So I'm wishing you a lot of peace, a lot of positivity, and a lot of prosperity while remembering that we have a lot of work to do, but we can do it together. I'll see you next time.
