Today we're talking about rituals for your morning to anchor your body, your mind, and give you a sense of calm. Take three intentional breaths before you even get out of bed. Let's be gentle on ourselves because it's hard to get it perfect every day.
Does your morning tend to start with chaos and running around and unpredictability, or do you start with a calm, peaceful morning? What usually happens for you? I'm Rebecca. I'm co founder of Marigold. Hi, I'm Roshni Kavate, co founder of Marigold. Marigold is a grief wellness platform rooted in culture, rituals and storytelling. Today we're talking about rituals for your morning to anchor your body, your mind, and give you a sense of calm. I definitely wake up with a really? Yeah, pretty nervous and feeling erratic.
So this is a favorite topic of mine. So, yeah. What do you suggest? How should people approach, you know, their morning? Because there's so much to do. There's so much to do. Yeah. And I want to begin with, you know, let's be honest about it, how. How we really start our day so that we can look at the patterns of what's really happening and kind of add small actions to make changes. And let's be gentle on ourselves because it's hard to get it perfect every day, especially when we're in any type of emotional pattern like grief, anxiety, sadness.
Let's not judge ourselves for not doing everything perfectly. So one thing that I like to do when I'm waking up in the morning to help combat that spiraling from immediately happening is just take three intentional breaths before I even get out of bed. When you're shooting out of bed and just starting to run for, you know, getting ready for work or getting your kids ready for school or all the other things that come up, we easily lose that connection to ourselves and calming the nervous system. That's so wonderful to just, like, connect to your body.
Right. I always have the urge to stay in bed longer. You know, hit the snooze button a couple times. So I love to just stay in bed, but one thing I've been trying is getting, you know, getting up from the bed and making a warm cup of tea, like, right away. I love this ritual. I have my morning Earl Grey because then it makes me feel, you know, it's comforting. There's something really warm and cozy to look forward to. Like, I don't have to get up and, like, you know, go to the gym or shower or look at emails.
It's a moment to connect to myself. So just, like, with the breathing, with the cup of tea, it's a moment to anchor and just sit down, you know, look at the sky, look at the birds, look at the trees. So just starting with a simple moment of calm can be really grounding for your morning. So let us know how would you? Or how do you start your day? What are your morning rituals? Do you have a movement practice? Do you dance? Do you do cold showers? Is there a special breakfast or any activity that really brings you a sense of comfort?
Thanks for listening.
