Jill and Mary own a company called Girls Mentorship. They teach life and personal development skills to teen and tween girls. They want to have a real live chat.
Dan Sullivan is our man. Right now. If he can't do it, nobody can. And a really awesome takeaway for both of us has been in the gap and the gain. What's amazing about Cadre is that we get to connect with one another to inspire, inspire each other to be in action.
Cadre: We had a gap year last year in our personal lives as well as our business. The message today is when you have a bad day, don't quit. Check in with yourself and figure out has this year gone well.
Hey, Cadre. It's not the kitchen table. It is the mobile hq today. Welcome, welcome, welcome. Hi, everyone, in true Jill and Mary hello, in true Jill and Mary fashion, we've got a few minutes to spare for you today because we are on the go, go, go, as are all of you. Right? So some quick, quick knowledge based on some things that we're immersed in right now. So, first and foremost, hello. Welcome, junk food junkie. Hi, junk food junkie. I want to propose a meeting. Junk food junkie, when do we get to meet you?
Because I feel like we're beyond, you know, we're beyond livestream chats. We need to have a real live chat. Chris, what's up? How you doing? How's life? We miss you, too. If you don't know us, we are the dangerous duo that is Jill and Mary. We own a company called Girls Mentorship. We teach life and personal development skills to teen and tween girls. Now, if you are not a teen and tween girl, please do not exit this life livestream. Because, honestly, what we teach girls are life and personal development skills, which we all need.
We just cater them to teenage girls because we were teenage girls, so we speak the language very well. Yes. Hi, Nikki. What's going on? So, today's drop of wisdom is based on what we're kind of learning for ourself right now. Dan Sullivan is our man. Right now. Dan. Dan. He's our man. If he can't do it, nobody can. If you don't know him, he's an incredible author. He has coached several high level entrepreneurs in his time, and he's wrote books like the gap in the gain, who not how ten X is easier than two X.
And right now we're reading bits and pieces of each one of those. And I think a really awesome takeaway for both of us has been in the gap and the gain. And, Jill, what does that mean? So, coming to you from our lived experience, and that's what's amazing about this app, is we are no different than anybody else on the opposite end of the screen. However, I think what's beautiful about Cadre and coming to these live streams and live events and what have you is that we get to connect with one another to inspire, inspire each other to be in action, to create, change, you name it.
So I don't know if any of you have experienced a gap year. We often hear that term, not in college. We often hear that term in college when kids go, maybe they want to go to college, but they want a year off, so they want to go travel. That gap year for us, we haven't personally had a gap year in college, but we had a gap year last year in our personal lives as well as our business. So what did that look like for us? For us, that was pausing our workouts? We were avid CrossFit goers for several, several years.
And, yes, we would move our body, but we just needed a little reprieve. So for us to find grace in this gap year of, like, okay, just movement wasn't feeling right, and business was a little wonky. Like, just really observing that this gap year isn't here to make us wrong or to look at ourselves to say that we're not enough. But those gap years are really crucial in your growth. And what do I mean by this? Maybe for you right now, you're experiencing a gap year, as well. I told Mary last year that I felt like I was a plastic bag floating through the wind.
Like, I just didn't really know what I was doing. And I was kind of like, well, just kind of like, go, you know where the wind takes me. But in that gap year, Mary and I were talking a lot about our personal lives and our business, and we had incredible people, like all of you, supporting us through what was a really kind of hard time for us. We were unclear in the direction of where we wanted to take girls mentorship personally. We were just kind of, like, just a little stagnant. And I'm. I don't know if that is where you're at currently or you can find yourself in this example, but what is beautiful in those gap years, and what we really want to talk about today is the.
The conversation of not quitting on a bad day. So, we all know that maybe one bad day turns into a two bad days or maybe a bad week. You kind of question, like, what am I doing? Like, is this really what is meant for me? Should I be going and, you know, starting up that. That business venture, or should I really take the leap into entrepreneurship from that hobby or whatever that is? Maybe if you are a parent, because we work with a lot of parents, parents are still trying to find their purpose, and you're seeking and seeking and seeking.
So, for us, what our commitment was not only to ourselves, but having someone to do it with you, that accountability piece, and then having other people pour into us to say, hey, right now you don't believe in yourself, but I do. And you can't quit because you're too good. You got a good thing going. Like, keep just waking up every day and putting 1ft in front of the other. So for us, the message today is when you have a bad day, don't quit. Grit, don't quit. And to like, check in with yourself and figure out has this year, it's only, it's only, well, it's the end of February now, but how have you, how have you been?
How have you been, how have you been doing this year? Is, are you, are you going after the goals that you set for yourself? Are you, you know, are you on par with what you said that you wanted this year? And if you're falling more in that gap, how can you use it as a lesson to say, okay, what do I need right now? And most importantly, it's who, because you're procrastinating for a reason. And what I want to challenge the word procrastination is procrastination is actually wisdom. But sometimes we procrastinate because we aren't the person to potentially do the thing.
So who in your circle, who within Cadre, this Cadre sphere that we're building, can you lean on to say, I need support. This is what I need. I just need you to love on me. I need you to tell me I'm good enough. I need some coaching and advice to have you then get you out of the funk to say, you know what? I'm gonna give myself permission. I'm gonna give myself grace. I'm okay right now because I'm playing the long game. It's not a short game. It's the long game. So for all of you joining today, Luke, junk food junkie, Chris and Nikki, thank you.
And for those of you who will be watching this back, we're all gonna go through those seasons. We're all going to go through the valleys to get to the mountaintops. And maybe right now we're on a mountaintop, but it's not an if, it's a win when we go through those gap, those gap, it was a gap year for us. It wasn't just a valley. It was like, oh, my God, are we ever going to get out of this? Yes. Look around you build community. You have Mary and I to come on to these Tuesday talks. We're going to be shifting in the next week or so in March.
We're actually going to go, going to be going live on Tuesday and Thursday at 01:00 so we're going to be communicating all of that to you guys. But know that we're here to champion you all through the lows and the highs. We're walking this journey with you. Junk food junkie. Yes, I have so far. I am two for two in meetings and completing my 30 day each month challenge. Is that okay? Let's go, junk food junkie. I love it, Luke. Love the green. Thanks, Luke. You know, just really trying to channel abundance, right?
Last year I was like, are we ever going to make money? And of course now I'm like, yes, dang straight we are. And it's 1ft in front of the other. It's believing in yourself. It's knowing when I'm having a bad day. Mary can't have a bad day either, because we need each other. So we, we know who to lean on, to get back on track, to get back to your goals and to do really big things. So for those of you tuning in, thank you. Go out and live an incredible day, week, you name it, we will be back same time, not same time, different time, same place next week.
And we're going to be adding an additional day. So Tuesdays and Thursdays, we're doing some really cool things behind the scenes in cadres. So, so much more to come. Your feedback is always welcomed. And with that, y'all go and have an incredible Tuesday. We'll talk to you soon. Bye, everyone.
