Luke Cadre: Today I want to talk to you about making our big dreams come true. Have you ever thought about the steps that it takes to get something to come to fruition?
"I'm not going to let anything stop it, me, from putting my big dreams into drive, " she says. She gives three steps to practice putting your big dreams in drive and not reversing. Also encourages people to talk about their dreams out loud.
When you want to pull back on something because it's so big, that's when you should be writing it down. Stay focused on right now and look to the future and see yourself there. You will get there.
A friend of mine just lost her son's godfather to cancer. I feel so strongly about the fact that you need to think really big. Hopefully, you can take something away from this sermon and find courage to pursue your own path.
You're gonna have to wait a minute. Okay? We're gonna have to wait. Good morning, Cadre family. I'm gonna wait and see if anybody pops up on. Give it a minute. I'm still waking up myself because my little guy had me up at three in the morning, so lots of this. Today's livestream is brought to you by Nespresso. Nespresso helping make dreams come true every Friday, live on Cadre. Just kidding. This is not sponsored. Nespresso did not sponsor this live stream, but you're welcome for the commercial.
Hey, Chris. What's up? Thanks for being here again, Chris. I love seeing your name pop up. Makes me happy. I've hopefully got the dogs in a good place where we can have a successful livestream this morning without anything crazy. The chicken, the rubber chicken is up on top of the fridge. We're winning. Okay. Today I want to talk to you. I love Nespresso. Today I want to talk to you, as always, about, you know, the theme of making our big dreams come true. But the kind of the download that I got for this message was not to back up on your big dreams.
Okay? So I want to tell you what that means to me, and hopefully it'll mean something to you and translate into whatever it is that might be holding you back or just kind of plowing through that big dream. And kind of this came from, like, me looking at my whiteboard. What's up, Luke? When I was going over my goals with a friend this week, and, you know, just talking about, what are the big things that I have on my plate? I looked over at my whiteboard, and I was like, these are a little lofty. And I found myself feeling like I kind of wanted to pull back on a couple of them.
Like, ooh, that number feels a little high. Maybe I could come down or that person might be really hard to get to. I don't know. Or I want to start my book, but is there even anything about my life that people want to read about? And I had a conversation with somebody close to me after that call who was like, well, I don't really feel like you've reached your, like, your book potential or, like, what people want to read about. Like, I feel like you need to do really, really well with your company.
And then I found myself sort of, like, wanting to grab my whiteboard eraser and wanting to, like, erase. Okay, good morning. Speak wonder. So I thought about this. Like, it. I'm sure that if I have those thoughts on my big dreams, like, they're my dreams, they're not somebody else's, right? So if I'm having this thought, are you having this thought? Like, have you ever gotten to that place where you're like, my dreams are so lofty. I don't think that that person is me. Like, I am that person or that I'm worthy.
I have a case study for you. This guy right here, this little bottle wrinkle release that we got in the mail yesterday for my company rescue kit. And when you think about what it takes, like, have you ever thought about, like, the beans that make the coffee and the people who serve the coffee, like, the steps that it takes to get that Starbucks in your hand or that Nespresso pod into your Nespresso machine? Have you ever thought about the steps that it takes to get something to come to fruition?
A physical product? I mean, but it can be anything, right? A business, a house that's being built. Somebody has to cut down the lumber from the tree that probably comes from my home state of Maine, get it to a point where it's ready to be into a house, you know, sanding, sawing all the things, get it on the truck, get it to the lumberyard, and then it is all of a sudden what makes your house. And we got these bottles in yesterday, and I was so excited my dad was over. My dad is never at my house, and he asked me to have lunch with him yesterday by himself, which never happened.
So there's a big dream that I completed for 2024. 2024 can be over as far as I'm concerned. I got a loan time with my dad yesterday, and I had such a proud moment when our wrinkle release showed up on the FedEx truck, and my dad was here for the unboxing. It was, like, mind blowing to me. I was, like, skipping the five year old girl who used to get her hair done by her dad for school. And I opened up the box, and my dad was like, wow, that's so cool. I'm really proud of you. It was really, really cool.
And I'm gonna tell this Cadre family here, but I'm not gonna announce this to the public. I was proudly looking at the bottle and staring at all of my glorious hard work, thinking about the fact that we're up against Downey and household goods names and the laundress and people who do this for a living all day, every day, that are, like, owned by companies like Johnson and Johnson. And I looked down at the bottle and only to see a mistake printed on this bottle. And if you only knew how many eyes it had passed through to get it approved.
Like, the bottle had to be manufactured without the label approved by me, the sample, and then the label had to be created, copy written by me, designed by the graphic designer, passed through my eyes, my business partner's eyes, the graphic designer's eyes, the wrinkle release chemist eyes. Like, we had to create the solution with a chemist and buy the bottles separately, get 3000 bottles shipped to me to house because it costs dollar 600 a day to house empty bottles at the chemistry. No thank you, individually.
Had to pull out 250 bottles, ship those to the chemist. They had to then mix the solution and then bottle the solution. And then we had to wait for it to come in after the holidays. Okay? And we've been in business for four years. We just had our four year anniversary. And I think about the steps that it takes to get these things done. Not only that, we had to pay for this process product, only for it to come with one word, tiny, tiny word of a mistake. And I sat there, like, my proud moment in front of my dad and my big dream, like, unfolding in front of the person whose approval I seek the most, feeling so torn up about it.
Like, so torn up. And I didn't visibly show him how torn up I was. But the minute he left, I called my sister and I broke down into tears where I then was, like, sobbing about the fact that, like, I. My heat isn't turning on in my house fast enough. Like, it spiraled really fast. I might have said I wanted to punch somebody in the face. I. You guys, it got dark over one word, and it made me want to, like, take all these bottles and trash them, okay? I was like, I want new bottles. She's like, we can't afford new bottles.
And I was like, I'll pay for it personally myself. I will do whatever it takes. Like, I don't want to sell these bottles. And she was like, who cares about the one word mistake? And I was like, I care. I care deeply about my mistake. But I sat and I thought about it, and after, I sobbed and I was like, I'm not. I'm not gonna backtrack on putting my big dream out there. People make mistakes all the time. Like, I'm going to release these 250 bottles. Am I happy about it? No. What are we going to do with the other, you know, 2005, 750 that we have sitting?
I can't do math. Mathing is really hard before coffee. You know, ultimately, I might end up getting a new bottle, but we're still going to move these 250 that we got filled. But I thought about how easy it would have been for me to backtrack from my big dream at that point and just be like, I hate this company. I hate these products. This makes me so upset. Anyway, we did it. Did it take time? Did it, did it come with a mistake? Should it have been perfect? Yes. It passed through so many eyes. I didn't blame my graphic designer.
I took full responsibility. I'm the one who's psychotic about the spelling and the grammar and the punctuation and all of that. But anyway, all of this to say, I'm not going to let anything stop it, me, from putting my big dreams into drive, okay? Because often we want to put them in reverse. We want to. We want to backpedal. We want to back up on our big dreams because we just feel like, number one, it's too freaking hard, right? It's too hard. I'm making too many mistakes. I'm putting something out there that I'm not proud of.
People are gonna laugh at me. That movie. They're all gonna laugh at you. It's like, you know, have the breakdowns, have the moments, but don't back up. Don't back up. You have to go and drive, okay? You cannot reverse on your big dreams, no matter how lofty they are, no matter how many mistakes you get, no matter how many bottles, say box instead of bottle. Anyway, so I want to give you some actionable steps because I was thinking about it, like, how can you practice putting your big dreams in drive and not reversing and not backtracking and not backpedaling on your big dreams?
So one of the things that I do before the things get bottled and, you know, before the things start to go into action for me, I want to give you three things that I do that I think, help, and make me do it no matter what. Number one, I always brain dump. I always do what's called a brain dump. I do this for everything. I start a Google Doc. I write it down in a notebook. I make note on my phone, I put it into an email. I save it as a draft. I journal it. I mean, these are all things that I do. Not for every single brain dump, but for every, like, every time I think of something, I've got, you know, the idea notebook going.
I've got, like, 8 million receptacles for dumping my idea. And this is a practice where it's like a unicorn dream. Our friend calls it a unicorn dream. It's like, wouldn't it be cool if. And you just dump it. Okay? So get it out on paper. I want it to be the loftiest, biggest thing you've ever thought about. I want it down on paper, and there's a reason for that. I also want you to write it on something that, like, stays in front of you. So I write it on my whiteboard. And like I said at the beginning of this live, I wanted to erase a couple things, but I'm not going to.
I'm not going to. And I'm going to take a picture of it, too. So I always have it. Because the white board does get wiped at some point. I will write it down in a notebook, but I'm going to take a picture. Number two, I want you to say it out loud to your closest family and friends. And I'm not talking about dream crushers, okay? Dream crushers are not allowed to know your biggest dreams, okay? This is your most vulnerable state, your loftiest goals. Don't tell your Debbie downer friend. And don't tell your family member who lives in the middle of nowhere and doesn't get it, who's never journaled in their life and probably watches judge Judy all day long.
No offense to judge Judy watchers, but they're not thinking big. Okay? I don't want you to tell people who are going to shut you down. I want you to tell your closest soulmates, the people who will lift you up and cheer you on. Why do I want you to do this? Because I want you to start speaking it. I don't want you to just write it down. I want you to speak it. Because obviously, we all know at this point in time that the words we say matter. And then we have a little bit of accountability. Sometimes there are things you want to keep close to your chest because you really haven't developed them yet.
But it's okay to dream big with somebody. And I encourage it. I highly encourage it. Have somebody, even if it's one person that you can have these big conversations with, that you can just dream so big that you are on a rocket ship. This will also condition and prepare your mind and your soul and your body for it to happen. It's conditioning. Okay? Also visualize. Okay, this is where the conditioning really comes in. The last thing, number three, is to visualize yourself having already gotten there.
I picture myself at the head of some big boardroom table, making huge decisions about rescue kit. Every single day, I wake up thinking, like, what did boardroom risa decide today? What did she say yes to? What did she greenlight? Who did she hire? What deal did she make? What category did rescue kit go in? Talk about conditioning. If you've already visualized yourself there, visualize the product coming to life. I visualized this product 8 million times in my life. When my sister tried to show me clear bottles or bottles that didn't match the aesthetic in my mind, I was like, no, those are not.
That is not the bottle. That's not. Why not? That's just not the bottle. That's not the bottle I saw. This is the bottle I saw, and it came out perfectly. It's glossy. It's white. It has a black pump. It matches our aesthetic. It's everything that my mind told me that it would be. I already visualized it. When you're doing these things, nothing can get in your way. And when you want to pull back on something because it's so big, that's when you should be writing it down. That's when you should be writing it down, because it's so ginormous and uncomfortable that your future self is like, yeah, that is 100% me.
Don't listen to your past self, because past self has already happened. They already had their chance. Bye, past self. But future self is like, oh, heck, yeah, this could totally be us. The possibilities are endless. Just don't look backwards every time. The backing up on your dreams, the looking back on your past, the backwards stuff is going to drive you into a hole. It's gonna drive you in a ditch off the bridge. You're gonna be stuck in the water. You're gonna be stuck in the mud. It is not where you want to go.
Stay focused on right now and look to the future and see yourself there. Visualize yourself there. You will get there. It might have taken me four years to have up. And as I'm talking, an order just came in for rescue kit. I just manifested that, you guys. It just popped up on my screen. That's what happens. That was cool. I wish you could have seen that little notification come in. Anyway, I'm taking you to church today because I feel so strongly about the fact that you need to think really big, and then you need to put yourself there.
Nobody's gonna do it for you. A friend of mine just lost her son's godfather. He's in his forties, young forties to cancer. And when I think about how short this life is and how much time we don't have, and I think about the idea that somebody in my orbit might not be putting their big dreams into practice because they're scared of failure or don't know where to start? You think I knew where to start? No, I just started. Let me back up on some of these comments. Great sweatshirt. Thanks. Good morning, snuggle puppy.
Can you see? Could you see snuggle puppy? I love it. It's a choice. Thanks for the reminder. That's right. Yes, jopa joy. I love it. And thanks for being here. I don't think I've seen your name on one of my lives before. This is amazing. I love the physical movement of brushing it off. Oh, my gosh. I have that written down. Where did I write this? Ah. Physically brush it off your body, and don't let any outside noise tell you you aren't worthy. I don't know if you can see that on my notepad, but I I had that exact thing written down and just didn't say it.
Sometimes I don't say all my notes. Physically brush it off. Boo. Yeah. Let's go. Yes. Ah. I love it. Pass the collection plate. Oh, my gosh. Speak, wonder. You guys, you're amazing. I love you so much. Literally, I love you so much. I love that we're right on the same page. I just got so excited the other day. I got so excited about something at the Golden Globes. I like spit because I got so excited. Anyway, I hope that, like, this is always therapeutic and cathartic. For me, crying yesterday was also therapeutic.
I hadn't, like, busted out a good cry in a real long time, and I felt, like, such a failure in that moment, and then I got over it. I'm like, I'm not a failure. I have this beautiful product. We could put a sticker over it, but then we could also just put it out there, and then it's a conversation piece and whatever. And if somebody's, like, really nickeling and diming the copy on our bottle, they got too much time on their hands. Just use the product and then tell me what you think. Anyway, I love you guys.
Thank you for coming to my sermon, my Friday sermon. And I just appreciate you so much and seeing some new faces on here that's always, like, so fulfilling. And I hope that, you know, we continue to connect through this beautiful app and this beautiful opportunity to share with you guys my own experiences and get really vulnerable with you about the mistakes that I make. So hopefully, you can take something away from it and find courage to pursue your own path. I love you guys. Happy Friday. Have an amazing, amazing weekend, and I will see you here next Friday.
Same time, same place. Want to say goodbye. No, you don't care. Bye, guys.
