  1. 0:01Mary and Jill talk about overcoming fear in their new YouTube videos

Mary and Jill own a company called Girls Mentorship. They teach life and personal development skills to teen and tween girls. What they're learning over these videos is embracing fear. Quitting is optional. Stand up after you've fallen down for the 800th time to succeed.

You know, we were just sitting here enjoying some lemonade on this hot summer day, talking about fear, and we wanted to involve you in this conversation. Now, if you don't know me, my name is Mary. This is my best friend and business partner, Jill, and we own a company called Girls Mentorship, where we teach life and personal development skills to teen and tween girls. But one thing we know is that fear. Legs, everybody. So we wanted to loop you into this conversation with us because that's literally what we've been talking about over the last week, the two of us.

This conversation right now. How do we get out of our own way? How do we get out of our way? And what does that actually mean when we're dancing with fear? And realistically, how easy is it for you to point your finger at external circumstances, whether that be something or someone? When something doesn't go our way, how easy is it for us to tuck our tail and be like, well, this just didn't go my way, so I didn't do it right. You make excuses for yourself, you blame other things, and you try to loop other people into the conversation so they are on your side.

You're like, oh, yeah, right, exactly. I wouldn't have done that either. Right. You get validation from people when realistically, you're the one to blame. And I don't want to sound harsh in saying that. However, if it's dropping the victim mentality and taking personal responsibility for where we are in our life in order to overcome the fear that's plaguing you to be the victor. So that's. I mean, we have been. We've been dancing with this as well because we want to be further, faster. How many of you also want to be there?

And it's like, hang on. What we also overlook is how far we've come. So we need to remember that we are on the right track, but we're in our own way because we want to be in the future when we're actually missing the necessary steps in who we're becoming in the present and the present. What Jill just said, you have to acknowledge that you're doing good work. You have to be able to acknowledge in yourself that you're doing good work. And regardless of what's coming your way, what your mind is fabricating for you to stop, because realistically, we have to remember that our mind wants to be comfortable.

Our brain has not evolved much from being a caveman, so it likes to stay in that little box of comfort, to not get eaten by a saber toothed. Tiger or a woolly mammoth. So it is going to tell you that what you're doing is not necessary and that you should stop doing it. But what you have to remind yourself is that you are doing good work and that you can't come down from doing that good work. Because guess what? Failure is inevitable. It's going to happen. And we just need to embrace that. That's what we're learning over these videos is embracing fear.

Quitting is optional. So what that means is that you're going to stumble, you're going to fall probably flat on your face, maybe more than you would like to. But you get to get up and you get to try again. You get to put 1ft in front of the other after you fall down. But staying down is a choice. It's optional. It means that you decided to quit on yourself. And what these videos hopefully will give you the courage to do is stand up after you've fallen down for the 800th time to succeed on the 800th and first time.

Cause you got this. I mean, truly, we have fallen time and time and time again. And we're here to encourage you to keep going, to get out of your own way. So we want to hear what that thing is, what is plaguing you? What is the failure that's keeping you from moving forward? And how can we help support you in knocking that giant down and helping you believe in yourself to do the same? You guys got this. So enjoy practicing these skills. Get out of your own way and we will see you on the next video.
