As we go into this holiday weekend, just know that I'm thinking about you. It's building your own traditions. Feeling gratitude that you wake up alive. Merry everything. And I can't wait to see you guys on Friday next week before the new year.

First of all, if you're used to me going live on Fridays, I'm so sorry. I had a little dog emergency with my oldest pup and still trying to get to the bottom of it, but I had to rush him to the vet. So I'm so sorry to bail on you guys yesterday. Thanks for tuning in today. And if you're not catching me live, thanks for. For replaying the recording.

Means a lot to me. And of course, we all have a crazy busy day. But no matter what, I wanted to make sure I got this session in with you guys. Whether it's the busiest week of the year or whether it's just another Friday, I wanted to make sure that I got this session in. So today I want to talk to you about something that feels, like, so cool and exciting to me and that's trying something new at any stage. And I'm gonna pose a question to you, and I'm gonna ask you to sort of evaluate what something is for you and what that means.

And then just kind of tell you a little story about the why behind this. And I hope it inspires you, as always, like, I hope everything inspires you. Good morning. Good morning, Luke. So I hope this inspires you. So I'm going to ask you a question. What is your Christmas song? And no, that's not. Hey, Alec. That's not in the literal sense of what is your Christmas song? So let me give you backstory. And always, everything pertains to making your big dreams come true. So this year, I decided at the end of this year, just now, in the last month, I really.

I've really always loved to sing. And it's one of my favorite activities. I have a rose gold karaoke microphone that I take out all the time. Some people like to work out. I like to sing with my karaoke mic. Okay, it's my workout for the day, but it's my de stressor. And it's like something that I go and grab when I'm feeling like nothing is coming together or I just need to take a second and take a pause. Or if I really need to process something, I'll just put on a YouTube background vocals and I will just sing my brains out like a crazy person.

I'm sorry for my neighbors and the people who walk by that can definitely hear inside my house, and I'm sure they've heard the national anthem a hundred times. From my bathtub. Okay, so I'm not ashamed about that, you guys. And this year, I decided to act on it. So I called a friend of mine who's a guitarist and a singer. I actually ended up jumping up on the mic with him at a party he was playing, and at the end of it, he was like, um, we need to sing together more. That was amazing. Do you ever want to, like, do a gig with me?

And, like, we kind of joked about it, but, I mean, when he said that, I was like, yes, 100% right now. And so I followed up with him, and I've always wanted to do a Christmas song cover, and just randomly, for no reason, called him up and was like, hey, I'm serious. Do you want to actually record something? And we did it. We got together, we practiced one time, and then we went into the recording studio and sang together and recorded it. And let me tell you what happened when I did this. Number one, I openly shared it on my social media, which is scary.

It can be mortifying. It can be scary. It can be embarrassing. But you guys all know now, at this point, I don't get embarrassed. And you're really, like, you're opening yourself up to people not liking it, to scrutiny, to just all the things that kind of rush through your head when you're putting something out there that maybe isn't perfect because I'm not a professional singer. But what happened when I shared it was like, luckily, I have a very awesome community, and for those people that don't like it, I don't really care.

What happened was people started saying to me, like, I didn't know you had this side to you. I didn't know you love to sing. Like, I love to sing, too. And it opened up the door for conversation, and it gave people permission, and it encouraged people to try something new. So what I did was show people that, first of all, it's never too late. I'm 42. It doesn't matter. I thought I wanted to be a professional singer at one point in my career. That's not the path that I took. But I don't have to give up a big dream that I had just because it's not going to be my career.

Okay, so tell that to yourself right now. I don't have to give up any of my big dreams, no matter what. They don't need to be of a certain scale in order for them to feel important to me. Me. And number two, I overcame something, and I. And I got back into something that I've been wanting to do for a really long time. So I think anytime you can practice overcoming, no matter what that means, it's going to get you one step closer to whatever the biggest dream is that you're working on. Because if you can chip away at the small fears for the small things, even though they might not feel super small to you, but for the things that are sort of on the sidelines that are not your main course, but your appetizers along the way, if you can chip away at those and show yourself that you can get through those and overcome those, chances are that when you start to work on that big dream or the big thing that it is that you're trying to overcome or get through or achieve is going to feel like a walk in the park.

Because all of these other things on the sidelines just served you right up. And I just think that's such a great practice to keep in mind. Like, it's never. It's never too late to sort of follow that passion. And it doesn't have to be, like, the end all for you, right? And the other thing is that I introduced something for fun back into my life. So singing is just joyful for me. It's just fun. Fun. And I know I'm not winning a Grammy. Okay, you guys, although if Broadway calls, I'm available. I said that in my reel.

But, you guys, introducing something for fun brings out the little kid in you. Like, I sang so much as a small child, and it brought me right back into, like, being in theater, being on the stage, singing the national anthem in college, and just, like, getting me excited again about something. And I think if you don't have that in your life, the thing that you're chipping away at that feels really, really, really hard can start to overcome your body and your mind and your soul. So I think it's so important to introduce something for fun that still feels like an activity or a hobby and brings out joy, but, like, also might be something that you maybe wanna master or that you wanna bring back into your life.

So why I'm asking you what your Christmas song is is because I wanna know, what is that thing? What is that thing that you want to do? This was my Christmas song we sang. Baby, it's cold outside. It's a Christmas cover. And the analogy that I want to use here is like, find your Christmas song, find your Christmas cover, find your partner in crime if you need one or have one, or whatever it is, somebody that needs to be your accountability partner. In this case, it was my friend Mike, figure out what it is that is going to bring the joy back in and that is going to be the small thing that helps you chip away at the big thing.

And that's going to be that thing that just excites you and energizes you so you can stay alive when you chase all of the big dreams that you have ahead of you. So, hi, Marissa. Say hi to Dempsey. So anyway, I hope this inspires you guys because this, this was one of video the coolest things that I've done. And we talked about doing like a six song ep for Christmas covers next year. And I think we're actually gonna, like, put some energy into it. So who knows? Like, I might put a cover album out next year.

And he's like, yeah, we'll throw it up on Spotify and see what happens. And it might be so terrible, but it doesn't even matter because it's like writing a book or learning a new skill or, like, learning how to play the piano or whatever it is that's on your bucket list. Like, this is a passion of mine and why should I have to give that up while I go and attack other passions of mine? In fact, I think all it can do is strengthen the big thing that I have ahead of me, which is rescue kit and my styling career and these big end goals that I have for myself.

But if I can prove to myself that I can chip away at the small things, anything is possible. So, you guys, as we go into this holiday weekend, I know it's hard for some people. Sometimes it's hard for me. I wake up alone on Christmas morning and thank goodness I have two dogs that bring me so much joy. And I definitely, 100%, 1000% actually, like, wrapped some gifts for myself this year that are not even, like, new. Doesn't matter. And I have some things under my tree, but, like, that's not always the point.

Like, mentally and emotionally, like, you wish people were here, you wish more people would maybe invite you to do things or like, whatever it. Whatever it means, right? So it's not always uplifting, but on the other side, you know, it's. It's what you make of it. It's building your own traditions. It's, you know, feeling gratitude that you wake up alive. Really, truly. Like, that's how I feel every single day. Like, I try not to think about the things that I don't have, but I think about, like, how lucky I am for the things that I do.

So as we go into this holiday weekend, just know that I'm thinking about you. I appreciate you. I love you. I'm so glad that you're here on this platform, this beautiful platform that was created by beautiful people just trying to do right and do good in the world. And it makes me so happy to be a small part of just this, this huge wheel and merry Christmas or whatever it is that you celebrate. Merry everything. Happy holidays. And I can't wait to see you guys on Friday next week before the new year.

Like, I feel like I have one of the best, like, time slots on the live stream schedule because I get to talk to you guys about big dreams at, like, such huge, momentous, like, important times of the year. So anyway, I love you. Merry everything, and thank you for tuning in.
