Dan: We hear the word anxiety more and more. Here are ten tips to help reduce stress and anxiety overall. Practice deep breathing, get regular exercise and talk to a therapist. If you've got any strategies that you use to reduce anxiety, leave them in the comments.

Hi, it's Dan, life organization and culinary coach here on Cadre. When we talk about health and wellness, one topic seems to come up more than any other, and that's anxiety. We hear the word anxiety more and more. And whether we experience it in our work life, in our social life, in our home life, or even if it's just anxious thoughts and feelings in our head, we can all take steps to help reduce the severity of anxious thoughts and feelings. Now, so many of these suggestions coming up seem like such a no brainer, like so obvious.

But sometimes when we're in the middle of anxious thoughts and feelings, they're the last things that seem to come to mind. Now, the more we can make these a habit, the more apt we are to implement them in our lives, and the more we can reduce stress and anxiety overall. So here are top ten. Number one, practice deep breathing. Deep breathing can really help calm your mind and reduce physical tension. Number two, practice mindfulness. Mindfulness involves staying in the present moment and accepting your thoughts and feelings just as they are.

This can really help you feel grounded and less overwhelmed. Number three, get regular exercise. Exercise can help reduce anxiety by releasing endorphins, which is our body's own natural feel good chemical. It's free. Number four, eat a healthy diet. Eating a balanced diet with plenty of whole foods reduces inflammation in the body. And did you know that inflammation and anxiety are linked? Number five, get enough sleep. Lack of sleep can really exasperate the symptoms of anxiety. So try to get seven to 8 hours of sleep.

You want to limit caffeine and alcohol. That's number six. Both caffeine and alcohol increased anxiety symptoms, and so it's best to just limit your intake. Number seven, practice relaxation techniques like progressive muscle relaxation and guided imagery and visualization and yoga. They all help to reduce anxiety and promote relaxation. Number eight, talk to a therapist. Working with a therapist can really help identify and address the underlying causes of your anxiety, so you can develop stress coping strategies.

Number nine, connect with others. Social support is so important for mental health, so try to connect with your friends and family and try to do it often, as often as you can. And number ten, try natural remedies. There's remedies like lavender and chamomile and Valerian root and they're all known to reduce anxiety symptoms. But it's always important to talk to your doctor before you try any symptoms supplements. So remember to do that. Those are top ten for you. If you've got any strategies that you use to reduce anxiety, I'd love for you to leave them in the comments.

And as always, check back in with us for more health and wellness right here at Codre.
