Cadre Life, Organization and Culinary Coach Dan Cunningham shares kitchen tips and tricks, recipes and strategies for less stress and anxiety throughout the coming week, both in and out of the kitchen.
Dan Rather starts seven minutes late today. For those of you who are standing by, it's a little unusual for me, but not in the kitchen. You are not in a kitchen with Dan today.
LZ: I have struggled with food and my relationship with food for a really long time. I'm pre diabetic. I am 260 pounds. What I really need to focus on is my body and my physical health. LZ is leaning on his Cadre family for support around this.
Hey, everybody. My apologies for my tardiness today, starting seven minutes late. I'm sorry. For those of you who are standing by, it's a little unusual for me, but not in the kitchen. You are not in the kitchen with Dan today. I want to talk to you about something that is food related for sure, but it is very personal, so I don't know where to start. Let's talk about food. So I have struggled with food and my relationship with food for a really long time. For a very long time. I did well because I was extremely active and I carried my weight well.
I was solid, and I felt good about my body for the most part. And, you know, as life progressed, I focused so much on organization and kitchen organization and food prep and my work. I quit smoking. It's been almost 15 years ago, I think, and I had a couple surgeries, and then we had an epidemic. And so, anyway, although I have been so focused on health and wellness in regards to our surroundings and my surroundings, what I haven't spent time on is my physical health. And that's where it gets personal.
I feel like I'm at a point in my life where if I don't change my relationship with food now, that it might be too late for me. And I don't want that to happen. I have so much to live for. And I'm pre diabetic. I am obese. I am 260 pounds, and I will organize the s*** out of your, excuse me, out of your kitchen or your closets or even your life. But what I really need to focus on is my body and my physical health. So what I'm asking for today is for your help. I don't think anybody's commented, but if you are watching this pre recorded, please leave a comment.
I'm going to be leaning on my Cadre family for support around this. I'm working with Luke Cadre, founder, and he is my accountability coach. And he and I talk every Tuesday and check in and discuss what we've accomplished or not accomplished in the last week. So what I'm doing right now is I was so scared to do this, which is part of the reason why I was a little late today. But I. I was. I'm just petrified of this. I've done this so many times. Started over and started over, started over. But one thing I remember when I quit smoking, I didn't quit right away.
I tried to quiet. I tried to quit, I don't know, tons of times, 10, 11, 15, maybe, and failed. But I worked with a smoking cessation coach, and I learned to just never give up, just jump right back on. And while I was working with her, I failed or, you know, didn't accomplish. My goal actually wasn't a failure. It was just another step toward what I really wanted to accomplish. So. So it is an emotional thing for me. It is a scary thing for me. It's something that I know I can't do myself, which makes it sometimes uncomfortable when you have to lean on other people.
So I'm gonna, you know, shift that mindset. I want to lean on other people. I really do. As I am so grateful to have such a supportive, uplifting group of people who are all focused on our health and wellness overall. And while I'll still be great in the kitchen, we're offering techniques on how we can stay more organized in our day to day tasks or in different areas around the house. But what I'm going to be struggling with, it's my accountability and staying on track with moving in the right direction to address my physical health, my physical wellness.
So that's it for today. A little different for today, but I'm. I'm committing to this right here, live on Cadre. And I can't wait to see the comments and share my progress with you every week. So make it a great week. If I can support you in any way, please let me know. Because it's together, you know, that we prosper. It's together that we really grow. I need you guys. If you need me, reach out. Have a great week ahead. Thank you. Bye.
