Hey, everybody, you're in the kitchen with Dan and I'm glad you're here. Whether you are watching this live or you're watching this pre recorded, welcome. Feel free to leave a comment below and say hello or leave any questions or concerns. And I'd love to see your comments. So today it's gonna be short and sweet. Actually, it's gonna be short and savory. Hi, Katie. So there's one thing that I've been doing recently that I think is a really, really great way to, to control your, you know, your health, your, instead of buying store bought dips and snacks, you can make your own at home.
And so often they are so much healthier. So today I'm going to teach you a quick recipe. And this is. Hi, Brian. This is a mix, a dip mix that you can keep in your pantry for up to six months. It's pantry stable for six months. And I'll be sharing some dip recipes as we move along throughout the weeks here. Coming up. Hey, Alec. So the recipe I'm going to show you today is for a bacon dip mix. And again, you can make, make this and keep it in your pantry for six months and always have it on hand.
And we'll talk a little bit after I share the ingredients, which there are only four, which I love. I love the easier throw together recipes for so many reasons. And time is one of them. It takes no time at all to put this together. And you can keep it around for a long time. You can make much more than I'm going to make right now. This is just one, one serving to get you going. And let's see how it goes. So making these dip mixes, these, these little zipper bags are perfect for spice mixes, dip mixes, and that's what I'm going to use today.
But you can use a jar, small jelly jar, whatever you want to use. And again, you can double, triple, quadruple this recipe and make a bunch. Keep it on hand. All right. The first thing, bacon. Right. So bacon bits, if you buy, they're better quality now that you can get. And if you buy the bacon bits, they are shelf stable for a very long time. Six months in this instance. Okay, so we're going to take two tablespoons of the bacon bits. Oh, the smell of these. I love bacon so much. Bacon dip. Who doesn't love bacon?
Now, the really great thing about this, and you can buy bacon dip mixes or dip already prepared, but you don't have any control over the ingredients, of course. And a lot of times there's so many chemicals in mixes that we don't really need four things in this, and it's great. All right, this is a beef bouillon powder. You can use whatever variety you like. We're gonna need one teaspoon of this. So we have two tablespoons of the bacon bits. One teaspoon of your beef bouillon. Gotta get my zipper bag open here.
All right, one teaspoon of beef bouillon. Now, these second two are a little bit smaller in quantities. We have one tablespoon of onion. And this is onion granules, those dried onion. One tablespoon. I almost dumped it in the beef bouillon thing. Make sure it's easy, but you gotta make sure, you know, you're not paying attention to what you're doing. All right. And then one eight of a teaspoon. I did search for this. Look how little. I mean, it's so little. One eight of a teaspoon and a lot of measuring spoon sets.
Don't even have an 8th, so half of a quarter if you need to do that. But one 8th of garlic powder. All right, you ready? You're done. You mix it up. You've got it in the envelope. You've got it in the pantry or in your cabinet. People come over, you come home from work, you're craving a little chips and dip. Bacon dip's your favorite. Boom, you got it right here. You add one cup of sour cream to this. Now, here's the great part. If you don't want the fat in the sour cream, you can do reduced fat sour cream.
You can use greek yogurt. Any lower fat dairy cream, feel free. You can even do vegan. So this is, well, it wouldn't be vegan, actually, with the bacon bits, but you can do plant based, plant based dairy. So anyway, this is just a fantastic shortcut. There are a lot of different variations that I'll share with you as the weeks go by, but this is one of my favorites, so I wanted to start here. So, you guys, I hope you found this useful. I hope this is a way that you can control the calories and the fat content of your dips.
Now you just got to find some good chips. All right, you guys, thanks for tuning in. Don't forget to say hi below. Save this live if you want to see it again.
