Okay, here we are. Beautiful Saturday, Los Angeles, California, wherever anybody else is joining from. And, you know, I thought of like, what did I want to talk about today? And I just, I love the subject of attitude, right? One of the things about attitude. So I'll share a little vignette or story from a guy in our recovery community that I never met. He died before I got here, but he has a reputation. He got Parkinson's and he would just say over and over again, I can have Parkinson's with a good attitude or I can have Parkinson's with a bad attitude.

And that inspired my friend Zach, who just died from glioblastoma, the exact same way, where he was like, oh, yeah, I can go through this with a good attitude or I can go through this with a bad attitude at any moment. And so really life is the exact same way. And what's, you know, there's Charles Swindoll has the quote that is basically like, 90% of life, you know, 10% of life is showing up. 90% of our life is attitude. And it's like our attitude makes such a difference. Do I want to be, I can go through life being a connected and good father or a crappy and moody father or husband or friend?

And I just, I really try to remember that. I'm 54 years old. And as I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday, as he reminded me, I'm on the back nine of my life. I don't know what hole I'm on, but I'm on the back nine. And it's like, okay. That's right. That's right, Davis. It's like, your smiles and your cries and just like what's the quote from Maya Angelou people will not remember what you did or necessarily even what you did for them but how you made them feel and you know and I just I try to keep that in mind I try to make people laugh I think laughter is so important and not taking ourselves too seriously.

And I don't do it perfectly and that's not the point. But the point is that every day I get to choose my attitude. It's one of the very few things that I have complete control over. Things may or may not be going my way or I may not think they're going my way. They're not going the way I want them to. But guess what? I can still have a good attitude. I can still have an attitude that basically says, hey, you know, do I want to bring other people down? Do I want to lift other people up? Do I want to bring myself down?

Because it's like, that's what it comes to. Gratitude is a huge part of it, right? An attitude of gratitude is what we say in the recovery community. An attitude of gratitude. That's everything, right? That's the attitude that I can choose. I can look at what I don't have. I can look at what's going wrong. I can look at how I've failed. I can look at so many things. I can look at what I've done well. I can look at how blessed I am. I can look at all the privilege I have. Sometimes You know, especially in this country, in this society, we find ourselves complaining.

And it's like, our complaints are a gift. You know, saying that I share sometimes is that, you know, some of the things that I complain about today used to be dreams. And that's the truth. I would have given anything to have them. I busted my ass to have them and now I have the audacity sometimes to complain about them. So life is funny, but guess what? I can catch myself at any time. Anytime I can catch myself and I can say, how's my attitude? What am I giving to other people? What am I sharing with other people?

How am I coming across to other people? So this weekend, I invite everybody to just think about your attitude. And here's the thing. There are some really wonderful people who have been so unhappy for so long that their faces tell other people that they're angry. Their faces tell other people that they're unhappy. Their faces tell other people that they're annoyed, anything like that, when the truth is they're not. So what's my point? My point is don't let that keep you from connecting with someone.

Don't let that keep you. Don't let that define an interaction with someone. I found so, so many times how wrong I was about where somebody was at or what they thought about me based upon how I was reading their face and all of that stuff. So I can do Saturday with a good attitude or I can do Saturday with a bad attitude. And I can do the weekend with a good attitude or I can do this weekend with a bad attitude. And any moment, any moment, I can change that. And that is an amazing thing. That is like its own superpower that so many people don't realize they have.

Have a great weekend. Take care.
