Chapters

  1. 0:02Opening lyrics

Short poetic lines and lyrics open the piece, establishing a gentle, reflective mood and thematic imagery about time and sorrow. This sets the emotional stage for the speaker's later message.

  2. 0:35Host check-in and context

The host offers encouragement about entering a new week while describing a busy personal schedule and recent family events, grounding the message in real-life context. This section reassures listeners that capability and worth persist even amid life's demands.

  3. 1:26Invitation to be present

The speaker explains the 'thin space' between past and future and invites listeners to focus on the present moment because it's where we can act and maneuver. This guidance aims to calm and empower listeners preparing for the week ahead.

  4. 2:23Closing with music

The piece concludes with the speaker cueing up a song by Joy Olodokan called 'Time is a River,' transitioning from spoken reflection back into music for listeners who want to stay with the mood.

Everyone's door, prepare the table, let tears in wine pour. Sorrow never wins the war, it only reminds you what you're fighting for. Que sera sera, let the water through. If it breaks your heart, you know the love was true. Que sera sera, let the time pass through. It's a good message for a Sunday evening or whatever time it is that you're listening to this cadre today. I hope you're doing swell cadre, but even if you're not, here's your reminder as you get ready for a new week that you are still incredibly capable, still incredibly worthy, and you're probably still going to accomplish some pretty miraculous things.

I'm working on a deck right now for a keynote tomorrow afternoon. I have a five hour rehearsal tomorrow morning and then I start a new show tomorrow night. The production that I'm artistic directing and all of a sudden, earlier today closed a production. Tomorrow night start a new one and then work and then life and then it's my 7th wedding anniversary today. All the things. My mom fell and broke her wrist in her nose this week. Life continues to life. And yet, when we take moments like this, we're reminded of the thin space in between, the space in between everything that was and will be, and how we exist in that moment, the moment that is now.

That's what I invite you to do, to exist in the moment that is now, because it's the only moment you have any power in. And when we can do that, All of a sudden, things are a little bit more maneuverable. We may not see that the moment is going to be maneuverable in a moment, but we look back and we go, wow, we maneuvered the last one. The moment that we are in is the one we can maneuver. That's my invitation for you tonight or tomorrow whenever you're listening to this. Be in the moment you are in and see what happens.

Y'all, I'll turn back on that Joy Olodokan tune. Joy came out with a new album, and this is a song called Time is a River. I'm going to go back a few seconds.
