Hello, it’s Josie, health coach and yoga teacher! Listen to an inspiring poem before drifting to sleep. 🤍
Josie greets viewers, shares her background, and explains she will read a poem from Don’t Wait to Light the Candles as a soothing bedtime piece.
Josie reads Ali Michelle’s poem describing wildflowers regrowing after fire, meditations on destruction and beauty, and a tender vignette about a caterpillar named Percy symbolizing messy transformation and hope.
Josie offers a brief thank-you, wishes the audience a restful evening and a great week ahead, and signs off.
Hello cadre, it's Josie here. I'm a holistic health coach, yoga teacher, and co-founder of a beverage company called Charm Social Tonic. And I just wanted to hop on here before going and getting some nice rest and read one of the poems from this book. This book is called Don't Wait to Light the Candles by Ali Michelle. And I figured it'd be a nice little thing to fall asleep to. All right, let's begin. Wildflowers are blooming on the ridge. That might not sound extraordinary to you, but I can still see the scorch marks where fire tried to swallow this canyon hole.
And now, wildflowers. Maybe it's nature's way of saying there is no rhyme or reason for devastation. But destruction is the fertile soil where greater beauty takes root. Tears of joy carved down my cheeks like twin canyons of salt. They call this place a town for hippies, which is another way of saying those of us who are weird enough to try on our own skin. I watch the wind snake through the field, coiling around the brightest petals. A caterpillar inches up my hand. The spotted, furry creature survived too.
All of us strange, awkward beings forget to glorify the chrysalis as much as the butterfly. I name him Percy and wish him luck because I know how violent and messy transformation can be. I build Percy a home out of leaves and flowers for him to safely cocoon unbothered and shed without a care in the world for what his wings will look like. All right. Thank you, Cadre. I hope you have a lovely rest of your evening and a fantastic week ahead.
