JC defines the 'thin space' as the in-between moment between what has been and what will be, using Sunday evening as a concrete example of this liminal time and encouraging acceptance of being exactly where you are.
He reminisces about Delilah's radio show capturing soft, emotional moments, connects that energy to Sunday evenings, and shares the names and backstories of his dogs as personal companions.
JC invites viewers to find themselves where they are, wishes them a good night, and playfully suggests tuning in to Delilah if possible.
I got the pause right there on some Milo Green on this Sunday evening. How we doing, Junk Food Junkie? Nice to see you, my friend. 19pm Central Standard Time in Minnesota on Sunday. What time is it where you are? Are you watching on a Sunday night because you had some time, some peace? Are you watching this on Monday because Sunday ran away from you or Tuesday or Thursday? Are you watching in a moment of peace or a moment of craziness? You sitting in your car laying in bed, listening while you're on the treadmill, or walking to your next meeting.
No matter what, no matter where, you are exactly where you are. That's a good thing to know. My name is JC. If we've never shared time and space together before, thank you for the opportunity to spend some time with you right now. Jeff, you want to come up? Want to come say hi? No? Okay. Jefferson, and here's Franklin. They've been, oh, and here comes Willow. They're all here. I've been busy. And they're like, hey, stop being busy. And I'll get to stop being busy in a couple of hours. But for now, I'm taking a moment to be where I am with what I have and honoring Matt.
That's enoughness work. That's thin space work. The thin space is the space between everything that has been and everything that will be. And Sunday evenings is kind of one of those perfect examples of that. Right? The weekend is pretty much over, but Monday hasn't started yet. So we're in this liminal space where we have to say, well, we are exactly where we are because we're not somewhere else. And in that space, I'm glad I'm here. I'm glad you're here. I know the things I know and I care about you.
I used to listen to Delilah. 9, Delilah was a lady who would take phone calls from people who were in kind of this soft, thin space where either they were hurting or celebrating or being really appreciative or having heartbreak or overflowing love, the opposite of heartbreak. And Delilah would listen and then play them beautiful songs. Yeah, I was going to say I'm like, I knew someone else would be like, oh my gosh, I listen to Delilah too. I think Delilah's still out there doing the thing. but radio's kind of shifted, right?
so no, actually, junk food junkie, Jefferson is named after Thomas Jefferson. Franklin is named after Benjamin Franklin. Willow is named after Willow Pill, the winner of season 14 of RuPaul's Drag Race. But Hamilton was our first pup together, me and my husband. But Hamilton passed away a year ago. So got 3 founding fathers and a drag queen. It's kind of me wrapped up in a button in a bow there. But Delilah was so great at capturing that Sunday evening energy where you would go, I have to be where I am because that's always exactly where you're going to find yourself.
That's my invitation for you right now. Find yourself where you are because you're not somewhere else. Y'all, have a good night. Maybe go and try to find Delilah on the radio if you can.
