A strategist plans but a joyful one plans for joy. When did you last feel rested? What are you good at that comes so easy you assume it doesn’t count? Who’s in your corner? Whose rules are you still following? What made you smile today? We’ll tackle these questions with heart and extend an invitation to experiment trying something new and joyful.
The host opens the live session with a midweek boost and asks viewers how their body and spirit are feeling. She emphasizes there are no right or wrong answers to this quick check-in.
She describes returning from an executive women's retreat in northern Minnesota and notes taking time to disconnect and reconnect. Because an exercise resonated with her there, she wants to share it and invite viewers to reflect on it.
The host presents the 'three selves' practice—reflecting on your core self, visible self, and emerging best self—and suggests thanking each and stating what you need from them. She defines the core self as who you are without titles, the visible self as a curated persona, and the best self as an integrated, purpose-driven version.
She shows a photo of herself as a carefree child with missing front teeth and describes that unbothered, joyful feeling as her core self. She explains keeping the image at her desk as a reminder to reconnect with that feeling.
The host asks viewers to consider whether an image of their core self comes to mind or if they're still discovering it, reassuring them that either is okay. She closes by wishing viewers a great week and noting she'll return next Wednesday.
Good afternoon. I'm coming today live for your midweek boost. First, let's do one more check in with how you're feeling today. No right or wrong answer. How's your body feeling? How is your spirit? All your emotions are welcome and all are welcome here. So I shipped it out from this morning because I'm just returning home from an executive women's retreat in northern Minnesota led by the incredible Jamie Tates. I took 2 1/2 days to disconnect from work, family, and friends, and reconnect with myself and other incredible attendees.
And I wanted to share an exercise that we did that really resonated with me. And I would love to just share and invite you this week to reflect on this for yourself. So it's called the three selves. And the work is to reflect on each version of you thanking them for how they protect you and telling them what you need from them going forward. So it kind of allows you to see the tension and the opportunity with more clarity. So the first self is your core self. This is who you are without achievement, titles or expectation.
The part of you that's maybe quiet, wise, unchanging. The second is your visible self. So this is the persona that maybe you've constructed to earn safety, belonging, and success. It's not necessarily fake, but it is curated. And the best self is really the integrated version of you that may be emerging next. It may be purpose driven, it may be grounded, and it may be courageous. So I reflected on this during our free time and I kept coming back to this photo of me. So I'm gonna like put it. So this is me and I must be probably 10 under 10.
I don't know, I should probably know how old I am, but you know, I have the two missing front teeth with the just like characteristic of maybe like your kindergarten or first or second year. in school. And I'm carefree, I'm joyful, unbothered and unchanged by outside voices and forces. And I feel like that this is like my core self. When I think about, you know, me at my core, this feeling of joy and freedom and like carefree spirit is this. And I actually found this photo and I have it in my workspace and at the edge of my desk and I actually have it on here as a reminder of that feeling.
And so my invitation for you for this week is to think about your core self and is there an image that comes to mind for you that comes up? Or are you working to discover what they look like? Maybe it's not really clear. Either is okay. But the invitation is to think about it. Who are you without achievement, titles, or expectations? Who are you without achievement, titles, or expectations? So have a great week and I will see you next Wednesday.
