  2. 0:41State fair context and history

The speaker explains how state fairs center on food and consumption and shares personal context, including a past binge-eating problem and a recent ruptured appendix that affect how they approach indulgence.

  3. 1:51Physical aftermath explained

They describe feeling inflamed and disappointed after indulging, explain how a big cheat day can lead to greater appetite the next day, and the need to rebalance intake.

  4. 3:19Mental response and self-kindness

The speaker talks about the mental toll of food-related struggles, rationalizes the need for occasional cheat days, and advises viewers to both enjoy treats and avoid harsh self-judgment.

  5. 5:42Adjusting routine and recovery

They note how overindulging forces adjustments to an established health routine and commit to several days of low-inflammatory meals to reduce the bodily inflammation from the fair.

  6. 6:52Labor Day plan and call to action

The speaker describes a balanced, disciplined weekend with some play to set up a successful September, invites viewers to join the effort, and closes with thanks and well wishes.

Happy Friday, cadre. Hope everyone's gearing up for a wonderful holiday weekend. Maybe you're going up to a cabin, maybe you're going out of town, maybe you're just gearing up for school, or maybe you're going to the state fair, which is the main topic of conversation here today. And if you saw my live stream last week, not this recent Wednesday, you'll have a better understanding of kind of what I'm getting into today. Because, if you weren't part of that live stream, I want to, I'll catch you up a little bit.

Going to the state fair is always a special time for me, but it's an interesting time because, you know, the state fair is all about consumption. It's once you go there to consume, right? And you consume people watching, rides, things of that nature, but it is all about the food and beverage there. And as someone who had a binge eating problem during the depressive state of my early 20s, it's like kind of a slippery slope in a sense, because I want to engage in all the things. Then I also have had a ruptured appendix in April, so I had to be more mindful.

So it's this whole new balance of, how do I fit in a cheat day the right way? So I think I did okay at the fair. I probably indulged a little bit more than I anticipated going into it, but that's because I was feeling good at the time. I was listening to my body. there was some times when I was really full, but I would tell myself like, hey, this is a cheat day. I've earned it. I have to enjoy it. I don't want to be hard on myself on those cheat days. So, you know, it's kind of about being kind to yourself.

So here we are. It's Friday. I went on Monday. And I'll say that my spirits are lower than they should be. And that's, the consumption is a factor for that. I feel and I look inflamed in certain areas of my body because I added a bunch of burning coals of inflammatory things into my body that, essentially enraged the fire inside of me. So, that's disappointing. And because you eat at the ferry, typically eat more than you normally do, it might be full the next morning, but then I'm almost looking to eat more than I normally would because of how much I put in the day before.

So then you're just trying to balance back the right consumption to put in your body. And for me, like I said, as someone that had a binge eating problem, food becomes a real mental thing for me. And I like to be operating on all cylinders. And the cheat day confirmed that I would, I like feeling good. It's like how, it's not, I'm rationalizing this in real time here, but you gotta have cheat days. But a state fair cheat day is a little more than the average bear. So for me, I'm just, I have to accept that and know that, hey, it's just one time a year.

It used to be 2 * a year, maybe 3 * a year. And then it would set off this string of unhealthy consumption because the state fair goes right into football season and then there's gatherings and and events related to football where there's more consumption. And for me, with operating the brewery all these years, it goes into the brewery's anniversary. So it's like all these excuses to consume in September. And it's coming off of summertime when usually operating at a better performance level. So then September is harsh and then it goes into October and then you're And then you lose daylight and then it can become this time and energy suck of just trying to get back to that homeostasis.

So I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't negatively affected by the consumption from the state fair. So that's why I'm here telling it to you. So if you are going out to the state fair, remember this conversation here and maybe reign it back a little bit, maybe share a little bit more. But make sure to also not beat yourself up over it. It's okay to indulge, but it needs to be done in a balanced approach. So one thing for me Also, as I have a pretty solid routine, a health and wellness routine, and when I overindulge, I have to adjust that routine to accommodate for the indulgence.

So that's wasted time for work projects or just general personal time. It takes energy away from my mind because I think about the extra work that I have to do to balance that. So it becomes this whole mental thing. So yeah, I'm going to begin a string of a few days of consuming nothing but damp embers, food that are with a low inflammatory response for me. I got to put in the work now to negate the fire inside of me that I lit on the cheat day that was my state fair visit on Monday. So yeah, got a little extra work to do.

I'm going to be embracing Labor Day weekend in its finest sense, where I'm not going to go out. I'm going to have some fun, some play. It's got to have some play involved in your life. But this is going to be more of a disciplined weekend, going to work. I got some fun things in the horizon. And I also have some fun on the horizon. So like some fun work things, but then some fun on the horizon. And life's always about trade-offs, a give and a take. And I need to take advantage of this time right now so that I can allow myself the ability to enjoy the fun that I have in the future and just be more prepared and comfortable for the fun work things that I have.

So that stuff that starts right here, right here, right now. So if there's anybody else out there that's embracing the labor component of Labor Day weekend, you are not alone. We are doing this together and gonna set use this weekend to set September up for success. We're already a few days in, but that doesn't mean that there's you're behind the eight ball when it comes to making like winning September. So let's get out there and win September together and yeah, make it a great weekend. So thanks for listening to me today and we'll chat with you very soon.

Cheers.
